Cultural building Beijing, China
Major Project 2018.07 - Supervised by Peter Brew
Cultural Imagery; Vernacular; Healthcare Complex; Experimental Forms; Hybird Typology This proposal began with the slum in which around 200 cancer patients stay in order to get treatment from the nearby prestigious Beijing Cancer Hospital. Despite the geographical isolation from the urban context, they have to tolerate a horrible living condition. In comparision, the traditional chinese village, which is abundant in colors, materials, decorations and architectural forms, is well known for the strong emotional and social connections between neighbour. Additionally, a mixture of multiple buildings with different function is common in the configuration so that residents are forced to communicate with other in daily life. Thus, in order to create a sense of belong in the community and a more adorable place for cancer patients to live, a hybird typology consisting market, housing and temple, which indeed recalls the traditional vernacular that ever exist but already disappeared in modern Chinese context, becomes a potential solution. And the richness imageries extracted from traditional Chinese culture becomes the source for the colors, materials and forms.

Pulp; Metaphor Forms;Public Buildings; Chaotic and Balance
Collective memories about city are composited by the buildings and other elements like landscape and monument, which brings an expectation for people when they experience a public building. Those expectation and memorial symbolic items become the sources for the forms of components in this design. We use the word ‘pulp’ to describe the matter with soft moist shapeless mass. It encourages the chaos instead of order; it encourages conflict instead of harmony; it encourages heterogeneity instead of homogeneity; it encourages that every part in the building should be identified and individualized. Thus, in order to manage such a chaotic situation, pulping becomes the primary technique to stimulate compromising and negotitating between various components.
components are defined by the functions, or in an other word, the role they act comparing to a building in a city. A giant roof which is a metaphor for urban landscape, emphasizes the in-between space and provide a 'cushion' for conflict, with its soft shape of the giant roof reflecting the dialogues between each components.
The essential forms and spatial language for various

DYNAMI X HOUSE
Conceptual Modular System for Volume Housing Housing Melbourne
Individual, Group work 2017 .07 - Supervised by Ian Nazareth in collaboration with Porter Davis Houses
Customisation Process; Economy Design; Adjustable System; Plugins System
Dynamixhouse is an innovative modular system for volume housing. It adds flexibility and adaptability to the future houses by changing the personal space into replaceable dynamic parts. A typical DynamixHouse is divided into two part. Despite the fix space serving for sharing activities like dinning, kitchen and living, private spaces are designed into plugins. Users are allowed for adding or reposition of the plugins. Based on the taxonomy research about the room size and circulation of Porter Davis houses, the configuration of the plugin base will be designed according to the following rules: Smaller-size plugins for the temporary activities will be placed beside the circulation space and larger-sized ones will be on the inner side. The plugin base is designed according to the potential professions of the users so it is prepared with pre-positioned connections. So, the plugins, with two to three different sizes, will be installed in the corresponding positions. Additionally, this project will also contribute to a brand-new relationship between architects and clients by providing a more concise and adjustable customisation process.

WHY CHOOSE THIS SCALE? Investigation of Plugins' Size By comparing the different sizes of plugins, I found that with the size of the plugin becoming smaller, the operability for the users will decline but the flexibility for the house will increase. For example, a plugin with the dimension of 100 times 100 mm is difficult to be handled by the users without professional assistance but is of most flexibility to the house. Considering the minimum space for a certain activity, the dimension of the plugins in the dynamic house is designed to be around 1 times 3 metres.

Responsive Structure based on Hololens
XS
Installation Melbourne Group work 2017.03 - Supervised by Gwyllim Jahn
Parametric Design; AR(Hololens); Grasshopper/Programming; Behaviour-based Design; Interactive Space
This project is a responsive structure based on AR techniques giving people instant feedback according to their movement and behaviours. In this system, people’s unconscious behaviour can also be captured for the prediction of the needs. Multiple prototypes have been developed, with their virtual structure in Hololens transforming when people accelerate or slow down, hang around or rest. These prototypes provide a potential solution for future spatial design. What if a space will respond and adjust its own form instantly base on your behaviour?

This proposal, the cocoon, is actually a group of installations inserted into the existing buildings. Based on the site research on Degraves st, installations are designed to attach in the south part of the street. Comparing to the north, the south of the street is not so attractive as many restaurants are squeezed on the south, and they fail to offer an attractive atmosphere especially at night. The tactic is using interventional installations and coloured artificial light to attract various groups of people in different time. When the restaurant open in daytime, the opposite semi-sphere cocoon, which is insert into the existing stores, can offer a stage for the buskers, which will attract people to the restaurants. At evenning, the cocoon, illuminated by the tube will offer an intimate space for lovers. The cocoon can adjust based on the time with its rotatable semi-transparent acrylic shade. For example, at night, the downy light and shadow will provide a more private and intimate space. 38

Cultural building Zhejiang, China Group work, Competition 2013,Summer - Supervised by Jing Zhen
Historical museum; underwater historic relics; sequential spaces and events
The whole project started with a sad story caused by the development during 1990s to 2000s in south China. It was about a typical ancient town which was buried by the artificial lake for the hydrolic power plant. The underwater historical relics now became a collective regrets and there is a urge now people want to exhibition the them in order to memorise the pain during development. Thus, this project is a concept design about how to completely present the underwater scenario with adorable spatial design and without any physical interventions on the relics. A sequential space is introduced, together with mirror and virtual reality techniques, to tell a complete a story about the lost ancient town.

Montage; Flim Production; Sequential events and scenes Inspired the techniques used in film production, this project emphasizes metaphors of symbolic forms. Routes and conjunctions are designed based on the film plots, and cinematography(montage) are used to connect all the events and scenes. Montage technique in the famous movie - in the heat of the Sun provide a source for the method used to illustrate the ideas and understanding about collective childhood and hometown memories. The director, Wen Jiang, used a fragments of different scenes and items to metaphor the memories.

This project involved planning schemes and concept design of the individual educational building of the new campus of Izmir University of Technology in Turkey. My responsibilities during this project ranged from digital modelling to parametric analysis, mainly focused on the insulation and other energy-saving performance, to the detailed ones like the envelope and the form design. In order to achieve the modelling the sophisticated form, tools involving Rhino, Grasshopper and Processing had been used. So to exhibit a complete form that fully convey the idea became the major difficulties during the project. Apart from modelling, I also participated in the concept design and elaboration, documentation and presentation preparing.

DESIGN MASS BUILDINGS_
