Get stuck into a great book!
WORKING FROM HOME Many of us now find ourselves working from home for the foreseeable future, but this can be a strange new experience for some. • It’s important to get into a routine. Write down your to-do list and goals for the day to help you stay focussed. • As tempting as it is, try not to work from your bed! • Set up a comfortable ‘office’ space where you can get work done. • Get up and get dressed instead of working in your pyjamas - this will help you feel more like ‘normal’. • Take regular breaks to keep your brain focused! Try the Pomodoro technique. This is where you focus intensely on a task for 25 minutes, and then take a 5 minute break. Repeat this four times and then take a longer break for about 20-30 minutes. • Set-up a motivating playlist to help you through the day!
Put on your favourite music while working
GET ACTIVE It’s very important to stay active to help clear your mind and keep your body healthy and happy. • Now is a great time to take up yoga, pilates, or running. • Make sure that you go for your daily walk to stretch your legs and get some fresh air. • Why not try some home workouts by following a video on Youtube? You can get the whole family involved! • Put on some motivating music and push yourself to complete a new workout. • It may seem difficult at the time, but you will always feel better afterwards! • Ensure you are eating well and not binge-eating. Comfort food tends to make you feel more sluggish and unmotivated.
If the weather is nice, try exercising outdoors!
KEEP IN TOUCH It’s important to stay connected with your friends and family during this time. Remember we are all in this together and you are not alone! • Try a video call with your loved ones. There are many options out there including WhatsApp video call, Facebook messenger, Zoom meetings, Ringcentral, Skype, and more. • Get in touch with people you haven’t spoken to in a while. • Write a letter to someone - it will give them something more personal and exciting to read. • Send someone a special care package full of their favourite things. • Keep a video diary to send to your friends. CEDIA staff are available if you would just like to chat! You can contact us on our normal office number: +44 (0)1480 213744 or 800.669.5329.
Reconnect with an old friend
HELP THE COMMUNITY By volunteering your time or donating to a cause, you can feel content knowing you have helped brighten someone’s day during these difficult times. • If you have an interesting topic you want to share with the CEDIA community, contact CEDIA to see if there’s a way you can help other members learn more! • Contribute to an upcoming CEDIA webinar, white paper or podcast. • Check on your neighbours, especially the elderly, and make sure they have everything they need. • Donate to a local health organization/hospital to help thank staff for all their hard work. • Remember to check in with your friends and colleagues to see how they are coping.
