The Elections are Over:

Now What? Volume 1

Issue 20

In the Name Of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful

The Elections are over: Now What? You registered to vote. You followed the campaign. You went to the polls and cast your ballot. Politicians were elected. Now what? Now is the time for real work. Now is the time to focus on local politics, local community issues, local families, and local sustainability. It is time to take the energy that was used to follow the national campaign and focus it on solving local problems. Where do we begin locally? That is a common question and the most common problem. When the whole political process is diluted down to just voting it is a serious problem. The first step in the political process is to organize with local families in order to solve problems that affect local families. Begin with the pillars of community: families, food, housing, transportation, and energy. There is no superhero coming to save us. We must do for ourselves ‌or not. We must work with local families (begin with those you know) in order to accomplish sustainable, tangible results. Now is the time to act ‌or not.

The Greatest Miracle of the Greatest Miracle for all Times. { There is no compulsion in religion.} Every Prophet and Messenger that was sent by the Lord God Almighty was given miracles to confirm his Prophethood. These miracles were such that when the people witnessed them they knew that this is a Prophet of God. This is whether they chose to follow him or not. The Prophet Muhammad was sent as the final prophet and messenger. He was sent with a miracle that will confirm and explain all miracles, for all time. He said that he hoped that his followers will be larger in number than all previous prophets because he was given the greatest miracle: The Qur’an. {O mankind, there has come to you instruction from your Lord and healing for what is in the hearts and guidance and mercy for the believers. } (10: 57) Each verse of the Qur’an is a miracle. There are verses of belief: things you should believe in …or not. There are commanding verses: actions you must perform …or not. There are verses of prohibition: things you can not do and you must abide by …or not. { There is no compulsion in religion.} However, all scholars are in agreement on the greatest verse. That means that it is the greatest miracle. { Allah, there is none worthy or worship except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His throne extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. } (Qur’an 2:255) There are no commandments, no prohibitions, nothing saying that you must believe in this. It just is. So, follow His commands which He has revealed …or not. Abstain from what He has made prohibited …or not. Believe in Him and His book …or not. He is Allah, and there is none worthy of worship except Him. This verse is followed by another verse. { There is no compulsion in religion. Truth stands out clear from Error. Whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold that never breaks. And Allah is Hearer and Knower of all things. } (2:256)
