I greet you with a joy that the world can’t give and the world can’t take away! As I reflect on the past year, my heart is filled with much gratitude to God for sparing my life. This year’s banquet has an even greater level of appreciation for the privilege of leading this board. On May 16th of this year, I had a 5-hour brain surgery and here I am, fully recovered. To God be the Glory for the things He has done! I owe our president and this convention a great deal of gratitude for your fervent prayers during this season. Again, I say thank you and God bless you. The state of Oklahoma has left me speechless by their unselfish support of this board and banquet in particular. Thanks go to president David Cavitt and the General Baptist Convention of Oklahoma, along with Pastors Daryl King and Derrick Scobey for your untiring efforts to make this event a success. Thanks to President Tolbert for trusting me with this great work. Special thanks go to Pastors Ticey Brown and Scottie Thigpen for such loyal support of all of the efforts of the Foreign Mission Board. Much love to my son Darius for relieving me of the stress that comes from the administrative arm of this work and he does it with love and joy. In spite of the resignation of some key people, my church staff has stepped up in a major way. Everything has been handled by them with a Spirit of Excellence. Allow me to extend special thanks to Geraldine Isaac, the liaison, Judy K. Williams, ticket sales and graphic designer Cedric Stover for making this another great banquet. I am honored to have other members who came just to give their support to their pastor and volunteered to help in the process. As we gather to feast and fellowship, please remember the purpose of this banquet is to hopefully arouse your compassion for our work. In the midst of our friendly competition, I take pride in maintaining the position of leading giver. I realize all I do is because of the greatest church on this side of heaven called the Gethsemane Baptist Church. I solicit your continued prayers and financial support to assure we continue to answer the Macedonia cry. Until He Comes, I Remain, Pastor Dennis C. Jones
