“AY”

Anthony Wayne Young was born to James and Ruthie Young on January 19, 1966 in Houston, Texas. He attended E.L. Furr High School, where he was a standout athlete. He was recruited by numerous universities and ultimately chose to attend the University of Houston where he played both football and baseball. Anthony was drafted by the New York Mets in 1987, making his Major League debut in 1991. He went on to play for the Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros and the Cleveland Indians, retiring from MLB in 1998. He married his soulmate Mia Kerl on March 13, 1999. After retirement, Anthony continued with his passion and love for baseball as a mentor, coach and pitching instructor. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at an early age and was a devoted member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church until the Lord called him home. On June 27, 2017, Anthony answered a call to be with his Lord and Savior and claimed his space in his mansion. Preceding him in death are his father, James Young; his father-in-law, William Kerl and one daughter, Breanna Paige Young. A

Tribute to

My Love

The love we shared cannot be explained. You were the ying to my yang, my knight in shining amour, my best friend, my confidant, my everything. You showed our family an unconditional, unwavering love like I have never known and for that, I am eternally grateful. Life as I know it will never be the same. My heart is broken and aches to know that you are no longer physically here with me, but I find comfort knowing that you are with our Father in Heaven. You are my forever love, the one who completes me. Until we meet again,

Mia

A Tribute to Daddy,

Daddy

Although this situation seems surreal, Pain in our hearts is all we feel. You loved us dearly and never judged our flaws, But you didn’t hesitate when it was time to lay down the law. You either used your big hands to give us a thump on our heads, Or you used your deep intimidating voice instead. Now we can no longer hear your voice out loud, But we hope through our accomplishments we made you proud. You were that handsome, cool, laid back Father, And when we wanted to spend quality time it wasn’t a bother. Each one of us had our own special bond with you, We hope you know that your job is not through.. We still need your comfort and to feel your connection, It all happened so fast; it’s rather perplexing. We’re going to miss everything about you Daddy, Your strong genes show in us all: Jamie, Nikki and Addy. We promise to hold each other up and love harder, From the son you never had and your two daughters.

With all of our love,

Jamie, Nikki & Addison

A Tribute to

Paw Paw

We were so lucky to have you as a grandfather. You were the sweetest man that we’ve ever met and we are going to miss you. We will always love you Paw Paw.

Love Always,

Adrian, Jayla & D3

A Tribute to My son

It always put a smile on your face when I greeted you as James Young’s baby and I know you are definitely smiling now to see his face. You made your Dad and I so proud and although he never saw your throw a MLB pitch, he had unwavering faith that one day you would. Destiny fulfilled, rest in peace baby.

Love,

Momma

A Tribute To Our

Baby Brother

The moment you came into our lives, we knew you were special. You stole the hearts of everyone that had the pleasure of meeting you and had a way of making everyone feel special. Although you were the baby of the family, you did not hesitate to issue out orders, never doubting we would do exactly as you asked. You made us so proud to call you our brother. We miss you dearly but take comfort in knowing that you can now look after our Daddy. We love you and look forward to seeing you again.

Lee, Helen, Pat & Thomas

A Tribute To Our

Uncle

To our beloved uncle Anthony, You were our hero, the family’s holiday chef, and that uncle we all knew we could depend on. There was always a smile on your face and you greeted us with open arms. You are the reason we were all considered the “cool kids” the moment any of us walked through the doors of Furr High School. Your outgoing spirit and friendly personality made us forget you were the superstar athlete and legend. You were just our awesome uncle.

We love you, fly high!

A Tribute to Our Brother, Our Friend

We have no regrets. Nothing could tear us apart, not even life itself. Just a temporary void until we meet again. But, I’m glad we had the chance to call you our friend. We miss you. Love you my brother.
