After twenty-five years of experience as a consultant of the main Brazil’s car TV shows and magazines. José Carlos Finardi decided to create he’s own TV show about the subject. The show 100% Motor now completes five years and in order celebrate it the JC Finardi produções presents the 100% Motor Magazine. This magazine’s goal is bringing to its readers everything about the automobile world. From releases and noveltys to classics and revisions. The 100% motor’s test team is composed by test pilots, time keepers, competition engine preparers, old vehicle’s experts and mechanics. The lab is also compacted for technical analyses of many sorts. Everything is set to bring to the readers an workshop experience and secure their car’s investments. . More aggressive. More stylish. That’s the Ford KA’s bet to continue as one of the best selling cars of the category. In 1997 the Ford Ka was released in Brazil. As time passed, the sub compact car received a few aesthetic modifications and the introduction of 1.3 and 1.6 MPI engines. However, only in 2008 ford that into then kept updates focused on the powertrain assembly attempted to the market’s new tendencies. The automaker brought up a new Ka’s version. It had more modern and robust lines and overgrown the old “ladybug” looks. Besides this new second generation bodywork, Ka also got a new engine. The Rocam Flex and Ford got back to the public’s taste. Although in the third generation the 8 www.100PORCENTOMOTOR.COM.BR
design modification was so aggressive that it even chocked the audience. It became a car fueled with personality, an awesome front with a hive sort of shape. The front lights would give a sense of power and suggested a better driving performance. The 100% magazine’s team tested this new three-cylinder Ford Ka Hatch 1.0 TiVCT. They’ve noticed good stability, good performance of the shock absorbers assembly and springs. Moreover, inside the vehicle it was noiseless. It had a progressive drive, behaved well in speed variations as well in sharp curves. The steering gear ratio was calibrated
and answered neither faster nor slower than it should. Or else, the car could lose control or have its dirigibility harmed. At the same time, the test team noticed small issues in the injection system. They happened during acceleration resumptions. It could just be an irregularity the tested car though. It steals a lot of driver’s space and the passenger gets kind of emaciated, what might disturb in long journeys. The trunk is well finished, but has limited space. The panel is practical and has a nice look. The fuel consumption is the expected from a 1.0 car. It did 9.6 Km/l in the best laps on the road. Ford KA Hatch has a modern design, good dirigibility and is very comfortable. It remains a good option of purchase.

Hot Rods are personalized vehicles. The owner has an idea and takes it to a specialized workshop. The term originated for the 1930’s probably in south California. There people raced modified cars. Its popularity increased after the second world war due to the return of soldiers pumped up by the front’s adrenaline. They didn’t had much money, so they bought abandoned cars and worked on it considering only its performance. At no moment they would stop to think about the fuel consumption or comfort.

Its power increase had no criteria and engines with inefficient lubricating systems would easily break. The first hot rods were usually old Fords with its peaces taken in order to reduce weight. Even hoods, bumpers and back sits where removed. The cars were sometimes called Speedsters. Wheels and tires also favored better traction and handling. In 1950’s hot rod became a depreciative term for cars that did not fitted in the original standard. However, In the 60’s they had a
comeback. The paintings got a new style with flames and also chrome apparatus, like wheels were add. Today, it still exists all over the world. In Sergio Pires workshop, Sergio Performance, a Ford 32 is being modified. It received a Ranger’s Ford 4.0 V6 engine with two propellers and a programmable injection. Initially this car was there to recalibrate the injection system. Iven though it was made in a factory it presented issues at the engine regulation when
the propellers were activated. Sergio managed to calibrate it but a few months later it has problems again. The pressure of the increased power was too much and broke the engine. When this car was created. A Ford Ranger Pick was almost entirely used. They took of the bodywork, but the chassis, transmission, gear were kept. Now the engine is fixed and it has 300 horses of power and it can get 60 more when the nitro is activated. Moreover, it can be very fun to drive.

Many people thing this is just a workshop’s excuse to raise the cost of the customer that wants a better performance for his car. However, Sergio Pires and José Carlos Finardi from the 100% Motor team made some tests that showed results. Old engines have the best presentation. They were smaller and in case more power was demanded the factory’s or workshops would just make it bigger. Efficiency wasn’t a concern neither the environment. A well know great performer is the Volkswagen AP engine. Without the preparation some features of the engine might not act well. For example, turbo motors need more power, especially in the take offs. So, if the process isn’t done properly or not at all, it will have issues. Some get 25% power and torque increase with the original components. Some tests from the team indicated that even with this boost the fuel consumption diminished. Now back to the turbo. The main goal here is power enlargement. Although the aspired phase, which is the one before the turbines start, gets much better as well. In new engines efficiency is a rule. UPDATES AND CHANGES OF THE NEW TOYOTA PRIUS 2017. In 2012 Toyota brought to Brazil the hybrid car’s model to be implanted in a Taxi fleet. Now this new generation of Prius promises to be more efficient. The 100% team took it on a test and that’s exactly what it proved to be. URBAN TEST During an urban course the Prius electric engine presented easy displacement in low speed. Also, when the air-conditioning was turned on the combustion motor became more active. It increases a little the fuel consumption, but the comfort compensates it. ROAD TEST On the road it showed good torque, fast acceleration answer and great power. The thermostatic valve’s carcass deformation is a common case in all vehicles with plastic ones. This happens because whenever there’s some defect it shuts down and locks up, what doesn’t allow water circulation through the engine bloc. This cooling liquid was developed to assist in the engine refrigeration, corrosion of the system and to protect the bloc as well and the head. Many vehicle owners don’t know this liquid has an expiration date. It should be evaluated with proper gear annually and replaced if necessary. The substitution process was executed before this machine by draining the radiator’s water directly in the sole. Then it was reassembled and a new non mineral and additive full water was added. Such practice was inefficient, the draining wasn’t complete and contaminated water would remain inside the assembly. of water was wasted in exchange for a noncompetent washing. Due to an ecologic conscience awakening and improvement necessity new cooling gears were created. The 100% team tested the HILL’s equipment, “Machine Treatment Hill” that promises a fast, ecologic and systematically cleaning. It was an easy handling machine, only with two commands the whole procedure was done. Three samples of the cooling liquid were taken during the test. The first one, before starting the wash. The second one after the filtering. The third one after applying the additive liquid. The result was very satisfactory and way more cleaner.
