The Renault Duster owners point that its only qualities are height, trunk, driver’s sit height, comfort and visibility. The car yet has good internal space. However, its exterior design, according to the 100% Motor’s team test pilot José Carlos Finardi, is outdated. This vehicle needs to be repaginated. “The engine is weak and lacks torque. Yet, Dust is presented by Renault as robust, but it is nothing like that. Consumption doesn’t please as well. The registered average during the test was even smaller than Inmetro’s data, the Brazilian institute of metrology, quality and technology”, commented Finardi. Nevertheless, its finishing, which is quite simple inside, gives the car a certain style. Even so, the multimedia’s screen position disturbs conduction and owners also complain about the excessive usage of bad quality plastic. The fragility of the component is evident when someone closes the door. The Duster know has a CVT gear, which might solve some of its issues. But, the price is really high for what this vehicle is able to deliver.

The Renault Duster Oroch is a simple car. Since finishing to mechanics. But, all those issues complicate its usage for working

The new Honda City arrived with a new design and unprecedented equipment. Still, all old model’s qualities were maintained, such as internal space, sophistication and comfort. The 2018 line has five versions. All equipped with the 1.5 i-VTEC FlexOne engine, which reaches 116 HP with ethanol and 115 HP with gasoline. This machine yet has electronic variable synchronization control, which variates valve opening depth and time. Thus, such technology obtains maximum efficiency in different rotation regimes according to Honda. Besides, all models can be equipped with the CVT automatic transmission. However, if the driver prefers, he can choose a manual gear with five speeds. The 100% Motor Team tested the EX version with CVT. And, according to the test pilot, José Carlos Finardi, Honda developed a great car. He explained: “The steering wheel has a progressive driving, when speed increases it gets firmer and when speed decreases it gets softer. Suspension worked very well and showed good harmony between springs and shock absorbers. The only issue was the airconditioning; rear passengers weren’t proper refrigerated. Yet, the 15,5 kgfm of torque with ethanol and 15,2 kgfm with gasoline seemed weak for the vehicle, as Finardi pointed. Thus, it harmed the relation between weight and power. Moreover, consumption could be better.
Even so, City’s conduction is pleasant. Passengers, wherever they are sited, feel comfortable and also the trunk has a good space. In other words, this car is almost perfect for travelling. Its only issue is fuel consumption. But, it is important to say that this factor is close to the average, the vehicle even drinks a few milliliters less by kilometers than its competition. Jeep released this year five new Compass versions. The 100% Motor team tested the Flex in the eight edition of this magazine. However, now is Limited Diesel’s turn. According to José Carlos Finardi, 100% Motor team’s test pilot, this model is not out there for playtime. Its engine is the 2.0 Multijet Turbo Diesel, which delivers enough power to make Limited Diesel an off-road jewelry. In numbers it would be 170 HP and 35.7 kgfm of torque. Nevertheless, this machine isn’t the only responsible for this car high performance in
irregular tracks. The 4x4 traction with terrain selection and the automatic transmission with nine velocities also do its part. Yet, comfort wasn’t left behind at all. The leather coated sits, the internal space and the multimedia system give this vehicle a certain charm. Besides, there are many optional functions that improve even more its conduction. Cruising and parking control are two of this options. The first allows a semi-autonomous driving. This system stops the car when another is right in front of it and helps the driver keeping it on track. Still, who buys the Limited Diesel can enjoy systems such as: Hill Assist, reverse camera, parking sensor, voice command and Premium beats sound system. Beyond that, there are more technological systems like the Power Lift Gate, which opens the trunk without a key and the Start Stop, that improves fuel economy by 5%. José Carlos Finardi explained Limited Diesel’s few negative points: “This vehicle made 8.5 km/l during the test week in urban track with low traffic. Such average is lower than Inmetro’s one, the Brazilian national institute of metrology, quality and technology. I also missed an independent GPS, the car only mirrors it from smartphones. But, it has a compass, which might be a full-plate for off-road enthusiasts”.

When the direct injection accumulates residue, the vehicle starts presenting malfunctioning. “For many unaware drivers it might seem like an ignition fail. But, what really happens is a dripping in the injector nozzles because the seal was compromised”, commented the auto mechanic, José Carlos Finardi.
DIRCT INJECTION SYSTEMCLEANNING PROCESS
Nevertheless, according to Finardi, there isn’t yet in Brazil an equipment able to simulate the direct injection nozzle functionality to perform the cleaning, mechanics still have to remove them. Besides, this injection system has a high compression rate, that means procedure’s pressure needs to be bigger. However, a simple solution that uses Autoplast’s products can be applied. “We adapted the disposal that simulates fuel injection before the high fuel pump”, said Arnaldo Hashimoto, Autoplast’s representative. This cleaning was performed in a VW Up that was in Auto Style workshop in São Bernardo do Campo. For that, Arnaldo used a product called Heavy Duty, which dissolves gums and varnishes when add to fuel. So, he applied the solution thought the device that simulates fuel injection and passes before the high fuel pump. Thus, the compression was compasated. “After that, all you got to do is start the engine and let it complete the cycle”, affirmed Arnaldo. To finish the cleaning, what was left of the Heavy Duty was added to the fuel tank and another Autoplast’s product was used, the Auto Cleaning Spray. It was applied straight in to the turbo, the idea was cleaning pallets and reaching admission valves to settle them. After the procedure, engine pieces were reassembled and the car went for a test drive. Arnaldo and Finardi concluded that vehicle’s flaws were indeed solved and its acceleration answers were faster.
