Legislation: EU/EEA Nationals EU/EEA nationals have the same entitlement to take up employment/internships as that of an Irish person. Non-EEA nationals who are UCD home students If the Internship is directly related to the college course work and is crucial to the non-EEA national completing their degree, then a work permit is not be required. Immigration rules regarding internships which form an integral part of a degree course are set out in the document ‘New Immigration Regime for Full Time Non-EEA Students’ which is available on the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) website here.
