Kenny’s Corner

The people of Centers Health Care never cease to amaze me

Christmas Day in Buffalo this past month was one for the record books. Several feet of snow, accompanied by howling winds, buried the region in snowdrifts. The city came to a virtual standstill. Buffalo Center and Ellicott Center, however, continued to function without a glitch. Take the story of David Wettenstein, Administrator at Ellicott Center. His commute from his Rochester home is normally a two-hour drive. On this day, it took six. But he would not be deterred or detoured. Not only did he make the drive, he also stopped along the way to pick up two other staffers as well as food for all of the residents and staff.

It’s just one more example of how Centers teams pull together to work wonders—even in the face of blizzard conditions.

Santa on the sax

There are all sorts of ways to celebrate Christmas. At Washington Center the festivities began on December 14, with a visit from Saxoclaus. Question: Was it a solo jazz act or did Dasher, Dancer, Prancer and the gang back him up?

Ugly is beautiful

Another way to celebrate the season is to bring out the ugly sweaters—and that’s just what they did at Bushwick Center. The colors were garish, the designs were eye-popping, and the day was a blast!

True spirit of the holidays

Deptford Center sends best wishes and grateful thanks to Angels Community Outreach and Sonshine & Smiles, which both touched the hearts of its residents with beautiful holiday donations.

Step up to the bar!

New Paltz Center brought out the holiday treats—with a hot cocoa and donut bar for staff and residents. A perfectly scrumptious way to spread the holiday cheer.

Time to party!

The staff holiday party at Richmond Center was filled with smiles, dancing, fun, great music, and raffles. The team rung in the New Year in style. The energy and joy was a delight to behold.

A sure bet

Fun was in the cards at Beth Abraham Center on New Year’s Eve. Roulette, black jack, poker and slot machines were all in play as the residents and staff turned the place into a casino. Everyone was a winner!
