March is Social Work Month, and We’re Grateful! Social Workers provide a vital service, supporting, advising and advocating for those in need—especially the most vulnerable. Whatever the challenge—faced by children, the elderly, substance abusers, the mentally ill, and more—Social Workers as a matter of course and character rise to the occasion. Unfortunately, they do not always receive the recognition they deserve. It can be a thankless job. Certainly, social work is no day at the spa, which is why we are thanking them…with a day at the spa. We’ve invited our Social Worker partners to indulge in a luxurious treatment—massage or facial—at our beautiful new Wellness Center at Beth Abraham Center. Soon the Spa will be available to our residents—another major innovation from Centers Health Care!

News from the Centers
From the heart
Topeka Center had a fun filled day celebrating Valentine’s Day. Everyone enjoyed a party with live music by Paul Root. The Center crowned a Valentine’s King and Queen and ended the evening with a special candlelight dinner for all of its couples.
Hear them roar!
It’s the Year of the Tiger, and the folks at Warren Center enjoyed a luncheon in the big cat’s honor. The residents made colorful tiger masks and watched the Shanghai Yu Garden Light Walk Tour. Happy Chinese New Year!
Foot-stompin’ fun!
The Bluebillies brought their unique sound to Slate Valley Center. What a show it was! They don’t just sing country songs; they embody them, performing their unique blend of country, bluegrass and folk music with traditional style, sound and spirit. Encore!
A slice of heaven!
February 9th was National Pizza Day, and at Glens Falls Center that’s a cause for celebration. The residents really cooked, making, baking and eating—you guessed it— pizza! Yum! One question: Do they deliver?
A super party!
A Super Bowl Sunday party, that is, at Triboro Center. Residents enjoyed all the action as the Los Angeles Rams outplayed the Cincinnati Bengals to take the big trophy. With the delicious dinner that was served, everybody at the Center was a winner!
Team spirit!
The Activities Department at Richmond Center celebrated National Activity Professionals Week with a delicious lunch, relaxing, re-energizing, enjoying music and simply conversing. Thank you, for your boundless energy and the many wonderful things you offer to make residents’ days happier and brighter!
The People at the Centers
Nancy Pagan Patient at Martine Center I have chronic kidney disease, I’m legally blind, and when I took a bad fall, I was afraid I would never be able to take care of myself again. It’s terrible to be ruled by fear like that— fear of walking, fear of falling, fear of life. Going to Martine Center for my rehab was a turning point. They immediately allayed my fears, leading me from despair to hope. The therapists worked wonders, helped me to improve my balance and increase my strength. Thanks to the Martine Center team, I learned to propel my wheelchair on my own. I can even walk on my own with the help of a walker. After six weeks, I’m back home again, with help from home health services. Most important, my fear is gone!
Spring has sprung. It’s time to find out why they call it the GREAT outdoors.
