Seeing Stars

The stars are coming out at Northern Metropolitan. The facility has received five-star ratings from CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) for both Overall Quality and Health Inspection.

A Perfect Zero

New York State’s rigorous inspection has found zero deficiencies in care, service and the environment at Steuben Center.

Kenny’s Corner

To your health! May is Global Employee Health and Fitness Month. At Centers Health Care, our priority is the well-being of our patients and residents. But this is a good time to remember and underline that the health and fitness of every one of our employees is just as important. Caring for our residents and caring for ourselves go side by side. I urge each and every one of our great Centers team to eat healthy, keep active, and get plenty of rest. Small changes can make a big difference. Have an apple instead of a candy bar. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Enjoy a brisk fifteen minute walk each day. Make good health a habit and you will have a lower stress level, better overall health, and improved confidence. It’s simple: Let’s get moving!

News from the Centers

Happy hippie!

Bannister Center residents reveled in the joyful noise of Kalifornia Karl. With his bright bell-bottom pants, rose-colored glasses, and shoulder-length hair, Karl took the Center back to the swinging sixties. Way to go dude!

Lots of dough!

March 14 was pi day, and what better way to celebrate than to make a personal pizza pi. Just ask the residents of Hammonton Center, who did just that. Any way you slice it, they’ve stolen a pizz-a our heart.

What is…fun!?

Slate Valley Center kicked off Easter week with an Easter-themed game of Jeopardy. Great idea! Putting our answer in the form of a question, what better way to exercise the mind as well as the body?

Dig it!

Triboro Center celebrated Earth Day by planting seeds of hope in their outdoor spaces. The residents and staff are part of the movement to grow trees and grow awareness of environmental issues. We thank you…and so does the earth!

Tat’s special!

Butterflies. Stars. Hearts. Kisses. Dream catchers. They were all in evidence at Suffolk Center, where the staff and residents marked April Fools Day with temporary tattoos. We’re not kidding!

Top o’ the morning!

The leprechauns came out at Carthage Center on St. Patrick’s Day, as did the musician Rob. He sang Irish tunes and put some big smiles on the residents’ faces. It was a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

The People at the Centers

Meet Sonia Danielbras Director of Social Services Bannister Center

I am originally from upstate New York and have lived in Rhode Island for the past 15 years. I came to Rhode Island to attend Rhode Island College in Providence, graduating in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. My passions include my work, my family, my dogs, music, dance, baking, cooking and traveling. I entered the social work field because I felt an undeniable pull towards working with people of all backgrounds who are struggling to improve their lives during difficult times. I hope my support and my assistance will help them achieve their goals and live happier, healthier lives. I became a medical social worker, having seen first-hand the positive difference a helpful, knowledgeable, caring social worker can make in someone’s recovery from illness and injury. I want to assist folks and their loved ones on a journey towards wellness as they navigate complicated healthcare systems, secure needed supports, and achieve well-being. I’m lucky to be working at Bannister Center because of the amazing, dedicated, and compassionate staff working alongside me, the hard working and motivated residents who reside there, and the caring families who support them. I believe by working together towards a shared goal we can all live healthy, happy, more fulfilling lives. I consider it a blessing to be a social worker and to be a part of my residents’ lives.
