Message from the Vice President Dear Exchange Participant, Congratulations for taking initiative to contribute your individual effort to change the world! Each and every living thing on earth are composed of small molecules that work together to achieve miracles. Same with our small efforts, as they are combined, we, then can change the world. I would like to thank you for choosing the Philippines and De La Salle University Local Committee as your avenue to achieve impact to the society. We will do our best to handle your exchange experience and to make each of your efforts part of the bigger picture. Experience shapes who we are. Every thing that happens in our life happens for a reason, and we may decide to either complain about how harsh life is, or to take it as a lesson and ask ourselves, “What will I do about it?�. Why participate in our projects? WHAT IS AIESEC? Our Clarity of Why
Our vision for our Incoming Global Community Development (iGCDP) - Projects department in AIESEC DLSU is to deliver impact to all stakeholders which includes the Exchange Participants, NGO partners, and communities. We envision a world where people are stepping up to solve a social issue in their area, this way, our dream of a better place would become a reality. The Philippines is not only the place in the world that faces social issues such as poverty, natural disasters etc. We want to show our fellow Filipinos that we are not alone in facing these crises despite adversity. We want to show them that they are not alone in this, and that the world is there for them. Those people are you. Where we share different solutions in our respective countries and bring this experience back to our home, sharing to our people about our experience and our learnings.
! I designed our projects in AIESEC DLSU to be very unique. I carefully handpicked each social issue and advocacy based on the impact and relevance of it in my country. Common Facts about the Philippines •
The Philippines ranks 12th among the most populous countries in the world, the population of this country is about 90 million people.

The Philippines has more than 200 volcanoes, although only some of them are active.
•
The flag of the Philippines – the only flag in the world, where colors can be reversed: in wartime, the upper band is red, the bottom – of the blue, and in times of peace – on the contrary.

About 80% of the total population are Catholics.
•
Filipinos have a different ethnic background, such as Malay, Chinese, Spanish, American, etc.
•
There are only two seasons – a warm wet season and cool dry season in the Philippines. The dry season lasts from October to June, and wet – for the remainder of the year.

This statement is a very powerful tourism catch line known all over the world. This is the tag line used by the Philippines Department of Tourism. Being a Filipino, I could say that this is very true that applies to ALL Filipinos all over the world. We, Filipinos, are naturally happy despite all the crisis and disasters that we face. We are always positive. A culture shock you may experience is how friendly Filipinos are to everyone, especially foreigners! Our previous exchange participants told us how this tagline affected their entire stay during their internship, they believe in the truth of this statement. Some say that the statement is to the extreme, on which they would share their stories back to their home town.

Tip: Buying a stored value card worth Php 100 can be useful instead of lining up every time.
Taxi Cabs Taxi Cabs rate starts from Php 40 until a certain cost depending on the distance. Tip: ALWAYS use the taxi meter. If the driver asks for a fixed amount, tell them you use the taxi meter. If not, then find another cab, unless you’re willing to pay that fixed amount.

About our VISION Projects
Innovate Be in the Pink is a youth-
led campaign that aims to promote awareness about breast cancer and to involve the youth the breast cancer victims - as well as the lives of the participants in this project in battling this universal issue. The project is a platform for training vo l u n t e e rs t o p rov i d e a n opportunity for early detection, breast cancer management, mind-set change and creating an impact in the lives of.
iInnovate
aims to educate poor Filipino communities about social entrepreneurship and help them in establishing their own businesses within their area rather than sitting at home or begging for food and spare change in the streets, thereby reducing poverty rate and unemployment in the Philippines. The project is a foundation for Filipinos to maximize their potentials, to utilize their ideas and to create impact in Filipino society.
Philippines is a country which is very much prone to various disaster and yet the country doesn’t invest in disaster preparedness program. Not many people are educated on what they should do when disaster arises. AIESEC De La Salle University imposes much hope that youth representatives will become more involved in this universal issue that shall hopefully resolve such and promote unity amidst diversity.
Kapatiran
is an initiative to educate the people of the Philippines on disaster preparedness as well as to create a campaign to make this issue more visible to people.

Philippines as a third world country The Philippines is part of the ASEAN third world countries. Wherever you may come from, whether you came from Europe or America, the environment will be very different from where you live. I would like to take this opportunity to drop all your high standards and expectations of the Philippines. Like I mention during my message, every moment you will encounter or witness during the internship is part of your experience. Every experience and story differ from each other. The Philippines is a tropical country and is also very humid. The traffic and use of public transportation may be very hectic and worse during rush hours. You will also witness a lot of marginalized people around the country and places where it would smell really bad. Please don’t judge our mother country, rather be the better person of helping out the society to make it a better place than complain.

FAQs VISION Accommodation
The accommodation we will be providing will not be like a five star hotel or any hotel. It is an apartment with bunk beds, where you will be living with at most 6 Exchange Participants. It’s a place with common necessities, such as a bed, a bathroom, an AC and a kitchen. The accommodation will also be about 5 minutes walk away from De La Salle University, unless called upon the change of accommodation due to the project. The accommodation cost will range from Php 6000 - Php 8000 depending on the availability of the accommodation. AIESEC De La Salle University will only provide accommodation for the exchange participant strictly only during the project internship with an allowance of 2 days before and after the project date. Kindly notify us if you will be arriving early or extending later than expected.

FAQs VISION Cost for Accommodation
The accommodation cost will range from Php 6000 - Php 8000 depending on the availability of the accommodation.
Cost for Food Like mentioned in the interview and the Exchange Participant Partnership Agreement contract, the food cost will also depend on your food diet and choice of food. Our estimate is Php 600 or $15 dollars a day, on the assumption of 4 decent meals (Php 150 per meal). Although there are also decent meals that cost as low as Php 50 or $1 per meal, again, depending on your diet. We will be guiding you throughout the Philippines on food recommendations and choices.

Receiving of payments
For certain projects, our NGO partner required the Exchange Participants to pay earlier for the food and accommodation to be provided by the NGO. The budget will stay within the cost stated in the EPPA. We will be releasing the cost during Incoming Preparation Seminar. 
 The payment shall be given ONLY to either the Vice President of Projects(Jericho Concepcion aka CEP) , or the Organizing Committee President of your respective project, or the Vice President of Finance and Legal Affairs (Arriane Franciso).
