Game. On. 2017. The official matchday program of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Capital Football Season 2017
Welcome back to Round 10 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Capital Football and Round 11 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League Women’s Capital Football. Teams come into these matches off the back of an exciting week of FFA Cup action, which will come to a head next weekend on the 17th June. Please note that there is no scheduled PS4 NPL Men’s action for that weekend, however catchup matches may be played. PS4 NPL Women’s will continue as normal on the 18th June however. We have now reached the halfway point of the Men’s season, with this week presenting us with the second installment of the Round 1 matchups. The Women’s draw is also around the half way mark too, with teams part way through their second cycle of matches. With lots happening this weekend, be sure to follow along on our social media, with live updates on Twitter as all the goals go in.
Centre of Excellence leave it late to down Belconnen Belconnen United 0 def. by FFA Centre of Excellence 1 (Louis D’Arrigo 94’)
A winner in the dying minutes from Louis D’Arrigo condemned Belconnen United to a second consecutive defeat and restored the FFA Centre of Excellence’s spot in the Top Four. The game began at a fast pace and the visiting youngsters looked to set the tone with the majority of possession at McKellar Park. They had the first real chance of the game after 19 minutes as D’Arrigo struck a curling free-kick against Finn Jurak’s crossbar, denying them a spectacular opening goal. With neither side able to break the game open, the contest petered out towards the half but Mirza Muratovic had a go at breaking the deadlock five minutes from the interval. The forward fired low at the bottom corner from outside the box, but Jurak was on hand to make a great save low to his side to maintain parity as the teams headed into halftime. The second half began similarly to the first, as the COE looked to pin their opponents back and move the ball around quickly. However, the home side were set up to hit them on the break, and created a number of chances as they careered forward out of their own half. United began to control the ball and play the match at their pace, forcing the Centre of Excellence to sit deeper and defend, but as the half wore down the game opened up for both teams. Deep in stoppage time it appeared the match was headed to be the first goalless draw of the season, but drama at a corner gave the visitors a chance. The ball bounced around the box after the drop, and after Jurak saved one effort and the ball was half-cleared, D’Arrigo calmly stepped up and swept the ball home before wheeling off to celebrate in the corner. United somehow almost equalised as they poured forward with the next kick, but an air-swing with the goal begging cost them dearly as the final whistle went.

Wanderers get back to winning ways Tuggeranong United 1 (McLaughlin 68’) def. by Woden-Weston FC 3 (Bernett 8’, Raap 21’, L. Vandenbroucke 67’)
A smart and disciplined performance from Woden-Weston saw them claim a 3-1 win on the road against Tuggeranong United on Sunday. Woden-Weston put Tuggeranong on the back foot early, pushing high up the field but leaving space to attack for Tuggeranong’s pacey forwards.
The early pressure was to pay off, with the visitors handed a penalty after eight minutes as Lotta Raap was taken down in the box, and Jade Bernet stepped forward to bury the ball into the back of the net. Tuggeranong began to find space in behind the Woden-Weston backline, and Meg McLaughlin was inches away from putting her side ahead with a good chance before the striker was called offside. Woden- Weston would punish the home side just moments later, when Sarah Crittenden beat her opponent down the line and cut the ball back to Raap, who bundled her effort over Georgina Worth and in after 23 minutes. The home side’s best chance came after 32 minutes, with Isobel D’Amico’s challenge on Jamie Berkeley inside the box handing Tuggeranong a penalty, but McLaughlin could only put the resulting spot kick inches wide. Tuggeranong took to the field for the second half with a high intensity and were unlucky not to get a goal back after a volley from Sandra Hill sailed just over Nat Lacey’s goal. Woden-Weston refused to sit back on a two goal lead though, and the visitors added another after 67 minutes. A strong run and shot by Vanessa Ryan was tipped onto the far post by Worth, only for Laura Vandenbroucke to put the rebound into an empty net. Tuggeranong would find a consolation goal just one minute later though, with the home side catching Woden Weston out with a quick attack that was finished off by Meg McLaughlin. Tuggies continued to push Woden-Weston, with McLaughlin denied on several occasions by a solid showing from Lacey in the visitor’s goal, but Michael Aldred’s side were left ruing missed opportunities as the visitors saw out the game to take the three points. ICYMI | Rogic stunner wi From goal.com | 28th May, 2017
Celtic sealed the domestic treble in thrilling fashion as Tomas Rogic’s stunning late goal saw off Aberdeen 2-1 in the Scottish Cup final. Tomas Rogic’s outstanding stoppage-time goal secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Aberdeen in a thrilling Scottish Cup final to cap Brendan Rodgers’ first season at Celtic with a remarkable unbeaten domestic treble. Having already wrapped up the Scottish Premiership and League Cup - with Aberdeen runners-up in both competitions - Rodgers’ undefeated side needed no inspiration heading into the final game of what has been a brilliant maiden campaign for the former Liverpool boss. But, following a week of celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of their famous European Cup triumph in Lisbon, Celtic more than met their match in the form of Derek McInnes’ Aberdeen at Hampden Park. In a frantic start, Jonny Hayes wasted little time in putting Aberdeen - chasing their first Scottish Cup triumph in 27 years - ahead as he thumped home Niall McGinn’s corner after nine minutes. Stuart Armstrong made sure Aberdeen’s lead was short-lived, though, restoring parity inside two minutes with a superb finish, before a stray elbow from Jayden Stockley forced Kieran Tierney off injured. Although Kenny McLean squandered a brilliant opportunity for
ins Scottish Cup Final Aberdeen, Celtic dominated proceedings after the interval - Joe Lewis in inspired form to deny both Patrick Roberts and Leigh Griffiths as Rodgers’ side failed to make the most of some gilt-edged chances. Lewis’ efforts ultimately proved fruitless, though as, in the 92nd minute, Rogic - at the end of a superb run - produced a fine finish to send the Hoops’ faithful into raptures and deliver Celtic’s first domestic treble since 2001.
