ue Fixtures Announced “Developing this draw has been a challenging process to accommodate the preferences of the clubs, venue availability and also the AFC Champions League 2018.
“We have added a new feature to this season’s draw with all clubs playing each other twice between rounds 1 to 18. The remaining nine rounds will see each club play each other once in the lead-up to the Hyundai A-League 2018 Finals Series. This stretch of nine Rounds will be known as “The Chase” with 27 points on offer in the run home to Round 27. “This will be the first season of the Hyundai A-League under our new broadcast agreement with Fox Sports who have been a broadcast partner of the competition since 2005 and we are once again look forward to partnering with them. “We are also very excited about working with our new Free-to-Air partner, Network Ten, who will be broadcasting the Harvey Norman Saturday night match and the Hyundai A-League 2018 Finals Series live. “All in all, we believe that this draw will set the scene for another thrilling season of the Hyundai A-League,” concluded O’Rourke.
2017/18 Hyundai A-LeaguRivals can’t be separated in crunch clash at Deakin
From a-league.com.au The Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season will kick off with a trio of blockbusting rounds featuring a Big Blue (Sydney FC v Melbourne Victory) Grand Final rematch in Round 1, a Melbourne Derby in Round 2 followed by a Sydney Derby in Round 3.
Canberra FC 0 drew. Canberra Olympic 0 Canberra FC and Canberra Olympic played out the first goalless draw of the season on Sunday in a stalemate at Deakin. The hosts were looking to rebound after a draw against the Rhinos two weeks prior, while Olympic came in off the back of their Federation Cup final win last weekend.
Melbourne City FC will host Brisbane Roar FC at AAMI Park in the opening match of the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season.
The visitors started strongly, as Stephen Domenici forced Sam Brown into a good save early on in the piece.
The following day will see an F3 Derby in the early game at Central Coast Stadium followed by the Big Blue at Etihad Stadium.
However, Canberra FC fought back and began to assert themselves, and looked dangerous particularly through Kofi Danning down the right. Danning’s whipped cross found Domenic Giampaolo in the box however he was denied by Angelo Konstantinou in the Olympic goal as the hosts pressed for an opener.
Sunday’s matches start with Wellington Phoenix and Adelaide United meeting at Westpac Stadium and the first round will be completed when Perth Glory take on Western Sydney Wanderers FC at Spotless Stadium. The Hyundai A-League 2018 Finals Series will begin on the weekend of 20-22 April with the Hyundai A-League 2018 Grand Final scheduled for the weekend of 5-6 May 2018. Speaking today, FFA Head of Hyundai A-League & Westfield W-League, Greg O’Rourke, was excited about releasing the 13th edition of the competition draw. “It gives me great pleasure to release the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 Season Draw under a new logo and brand identity,” said O’Rourke.
Domenici had another chance shortly after as he robbed Michael Mensah of the ball at the back, but the striker mishit his shot and Brown was able to gather comfortably in the home net. With the sides locked together at the half, it was all to play for in the second stanza, and Canberra FC came out strongly, as Niko Kresic forced a good save from Konstantinou early on in the half. Both sides traded possession early in the half as neither was really able to settle, aside from an patch of play where Olympic continually threatened but were unable to break through a defence led brilliantly by Michael Mensah. Play was stopped later on in the half as Kye Edwards collided heavily with his opposite number, and appeared to be badly hurt as he lay prone on the pitch.. Edwards was stretchered off the field after team doctor’s attended to him on the field, and the hosts were forced to play with 10 men having used all their substitutes. But they still pushed for a result and came close with moments remaining, as a strike from out wide was only parried into space by Konstantinou, however no one was on hand for the home side to push in the rebound. The result leaves Olympic even on points in first with the FFA Centre of Excellence, while Canberra FC occupy third spot just four points behind.

Both sides came into round 13 of the PS4 NPLW off the back of close encounters, with Monaro narrowly losing out to the Canberra United Academy, and Gungahlin downing Tuggeranong last weekend, but Diego Iglesias’ side proved too strong for the hosts piling on the pressure as the goals followed. The visitors looked the sharper side from the get-go, pressing high up the pitch and catching Monaro out with an early effort from Ilahna Aitchison beating Grace Lockard but only finding the post. Grace Field looked dangerous and found space in the box just minutes later, but struck the side netting with an effort from the left. Gungahlin took the lead in the 8th minute, as May Bailey found Erika Pennyfield down the line and the midfielders looping effort dipped over Lockard’s head and in. Just two minutes later they struck again, with a smartly positioned Alex Martens slotting home from close range. After thirteen minutes, Bailey took matters into her own hands, sparking an elegant move through the middle of the pitch and slotting home a perfect finish into the top right corner. Monaro struggled to respond to a quick start from Gungahlin, who continued to pile on the pressure with an all-out press and Pennyfield used her pace to beat Lockard to a through ball and put her side up by four within the first 20 minutes. As the sides entered the second half, Monaro looked to explore the space in behind their high-pressing opponents but struggled once again against a compact Gungahlin. The home side’s best chance came after 55 minutes, when Alicia Meuronen went through on goal but was denied by the post. Panthers goalkeeper Lockard looked determined to keep the score down, pulling off a number of excellent saves early in the second half, but there was no stopping Field from scoring her first for the afternoon, volleying home off a corner inside the box in the 60th minute. Gungahlin’s dominance continued, when substitute Sophie Bui was brought down in the box and De Marco stepped up to slot home the penalty. Bui continued to prove herself, finding some space up front and sweetly chipping Lockard from the right hand side of the box. Late goals from Field and Ruby Gambale put the icing on the cake for Gungahlin, putting the side into second on the table as we pass the half-way mark for the season
