Game. On. 2017. The official matchday program of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Capital Football Season 2017
Welcome back to Round 13 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Capital Football and Round 15 of the PlayStation 4 National Premier League Women’s Capital Football. After the weekend off following Kanga Cup, Premier League action is back in action as we hit the final stretch of the season. With the FFA Centre of Ecellence v Tigers already decided in a rescheduled fixture, only four mens matches remain. Three of those kick off on Saturday, including a blockbuster clash between Belconnen United & Canberra Olympic. That match will be streamed live on BarTV Sports if you can’t make it to the ground, and is a pivotal match in the title race. In the PS4 NPL Women’s, Belconnen United v Gungahlin United stands out as a pivotal clash, while the matchup between Canberra United Academy and Woden-Weston could shape as an important one for the latters top four hopes. Stay tuned to our social media channels for all your NPL news, including live-streaming on Saturday Night!
Oloriegbe fires Tuggies to upset win Tuggeranong United 3 (Andrew Slavich 35’, Alex Oloriegbe 41’, Riley Angelosante 89’) def. Gungahlin United 1 (Misko Naumoski 26’) By Matt Nicoletti New signing Alex Oloriegbe helped Tuggeranong United to a 3-1 win over Gungahlin at Kambah in Round 12 of the PS4 NPL. The game took time to get going with the visitors initially controlling the possession and the tempo of the game, while Tuggies concentrated on keeping it tight at the back and counter attacking when the opportunity arose. Gungahlin’s first true opportunity of the game came in the 8th minute when Jason O’Dwyer collected the ball in the box and instantly forced Tuggies keeper Tom Barton into an early save. The home side began to slowly settle in the game, and a Daniel Roberts free kick in the 19th minute took a wicked deflection and went narrowly wide of the goal. In the 21st minute Misko Naumoski was in the right place at the right time and was able to tap home the opener for Gungahlin to put them in the lead. It looked like Gungahlin were set to score another as they looked in control, however the pace of Tuggeranong’s new recruit Oloriegbe shone through as he broke away to assist Andrew Slavich’s strike across the keeper in the 35th minute. Six minutes later Oloriegbe added to the highlights in his debut with a goal, finding space at the left post and tucking away a low cross into the bottom corner to give his side the lead ahead of the break. If anyone just watched the second half and did not know the score, they would think that Tuggies were the team chasing the game as they continued at a frenetic pace. Gungahlin had their chances, however they just seemed one step behind their opponents in the second half. The home side did not take their foot off the pedal as they continued to search for opportunities to extend their lead. The determination paid off on the cusp of fulltime as Oloriegbe once again broke away from his markers, knicked the ball off to Riley Angelosante to beat his onrushing defender, and Angelosante made no mistake with a tidy finish to seal the match.

Brilliant Belconnen blow away Academy Belconnen United 7 (Nicole Jalocha 5’, Jessie Williams 17’, 30’, 58’, 85’, Chloe Callaghan 59’, 86’) def. Canberra United Academy 0 By Mitchell Keenan Belconnen United 7 (Nicole Jalocha 5’, Jessie Williams 17’, 30’, 58’, 85’, Chloe Callaghan 59’, 86’)def. Canberra United Academy 0 Belconnen United cemented their spot at the top of the PS4 NPLW with a runaway win against the Canberra United Academy at McKellar Park on Saturday night. The Blue Devils earned another clean sheet in as many wins, with a rampant seven goal display against a skilful Academy side, with both sides creating opportunities but the visitors unable to trouble their robust opponents. The match was a fast-paced affair from the get go, with both sides looking to work the ball and create space in their opponents half, but it was Belconnen who struck early through a close range finish from Cara Cutaia after just six minutes. The CUA put the pressure back on to the home side, and Jasmine Genovesi took charge of an early free kick but the striker spurned the opportunity, firing high and wide of Jessica Giovinazzo’s goal. The chances continued for the Academy, with Sarah Morgan and Gemma Murphy both presented good chances in front of goal but failing to capitalise as Belconnen started to look dangerous on the counter attack. The Blue Devils’ front three began to trouble the CUA backline, and the home side doubled their lead on 17 minutes when Maddy Whittall found Jessie Williams with a well-timed through ball and the striker slotted home with ease. Belconnen started to open up the game, comfortably playing off an early lead and after a number of efforts calling Sabrina Sanchez into action, the CUA goalkeeper couldn’t keep Williams from claiming an early brace, sending in a pin-point effort from out wide after 30 minutes. After a number of good chances to either side, Belconnen struck again with two goals in two minutes, with Williams completing her hat-trick in the 59th, and Chloe Callaghan breaking away to catch the CUA out on 6the hour mark. The Academy kept their heads high and continued to take the game to Belconnen, with striker Genovesi drawing a good save out of Giovinazzo in the 76th minute, but the Blue Devils would see out the game with another quick-fire double from Williams and Callaghan in the 85th and 86th minute.
