Being a parent is rewarding, but it can also be challenging. We want to help you give your child every opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed. If you’re expecting a baby or already have a newborn at home, NOW is the right time to sign up. Healthy Families Delaware is a program of Children & Families First and Delaware Thrives, an initiative of Delaware Health and Social Services.

What is the Healthy Families Delaware Program? Healthy Families Delaware is a FREE PROGRAM that helps new parents get their children off to a healthy start. A Nurse or Family Support Worker makes regular visits to your home or alternate location of your choice, to help ensure your baby is healthy and that you have the best information about early child development. Bilingual/ Spanish services are also available.

• Set and meet individual goals, as well as, help set goals for your family and plan for your future.
Families, who feel like this program is a good fit for their family can refer themselves. Health care providers, schools, and social service agencies can also refer you to the program. A Family Support Worker will determine final eligibility.

∞ Find activities and resources for babies and families in your community. • Prepare your child for a school setting.
The home visiting program can be a multi-year commitment during which a Nurse or Family Support Worker will be dedicated to your family throughout your participation in the program. Families are enrolled prenatally or within three months of birth. Once enrolled, you will connect with your Nurse or Family Support Worker and continue to meet with them until the baby’s third birthday. Home visits include education and support on pregnancy, health, parenting, and child development.
