When Mia, who has served on the Foundation Board since 2021, learned about the $2 to $1 matching opportunity for unrestricted gifts, it sparked a desire to make a permanent mark on the community with a named unrestricted fund at The Community Foundation. The Wayne and Mia Johnson Fund was started at the end of 2023 and will grow with pledged monthly gifts from the Johnsons through 2026. Each gift will be matched $2 to $1. Once complete, grants will be awarded annually from the fund through the Community Grants Program. Right now, you can start an endowed named unrestricted fund with as little as $5,000. Your gift will be matched $2 to $1. The gift can be split over 30 months – $500 to start and then around $150 per month. To learn more, contact
