INSIDE ROCHESTER
Mayor Warren Recognizes Heroism of City Woman who Rescued Neighbor in a Fire
M
ayor Lovely A. Warren has recognized Elene Peavy, a city resident who rescued her neighbor from a burning apartment in January, with a Mayoral Proclamation. "Elene Peavy is an unsung hero, at age 68 she is a person who quietly lives her life, but steps up to help others whenever she sees a need— even when stepping up may mean putting herself at risk,” Mayor Warren’s Proclamation states. “The City of Rochester is proud of Elene Peavy for her selfless acts of courage.” In the early morning hours of Jan. 30 Ms. Peavy heard a tapping sound from her neighbor’s apartment on the seventh floor of her building on Franklin Street. Using a walker because of a recent knee replacement, Ms. (L) Elene Peavy (R) Fire Chief Felipe Hernandez Peavy moved quickly to her neighbor’s door, where she could hear him plead for someone to open it. Ms. Peavy was also recovering from shoulder surgery and did not have the strength to force the door open, but she remained in place and continued to encourage and reassure her neighbor that he could open the door from the inside. Once the door opened, black smoke poured into the hallway and the neighbor was covered in soot. She moved him to safety until the Rochester Fire Department arrived to extinguish the fire. The RFD credited Ms. Peavy’s actions for possibly saving the life of her neighbor. The January rescue was just the latest act of heroism by Ms. Peavy. She once rescued children from a burning home, and has also transported shooting victims to an area hospital in her vehicle. Interim Fire Chief Felipe Hernandez presented Ms. Peavy with the Mayoral Proclamation earlier today. She told him: “When people are in need, help, don’t run away. Rochester needs more care in it, everyone should help each other.”

Coalition For Open Government Calls Upon Brown to Debate His Opponents Election debates are an important part of our democratic process. Voters are provided very few opportunities where they can see and evaluate candidate responses to questions. Refusing to debate at all or participating in just one debate is a disservice to the public. The League of Women Voters of Buffalo Niagara has, scheduled a candidates forum for June 10 via Zoom . Reservations are required and can be made via email to lwvbn@ lwvbn.org. Mayoral candidates Le’Candice Durham and India Walton have agreed to participate in the candidate forum. Mayor Byron Brown has thus far not agreed to participate. The New York Coalition For Open Government calls upon Mayor Byron Brown to participate in the June 10 event as well as others, event as well as others, as an important public service, so that voters can make an informed decision when casting their ballot. "Knowing when to stop you can avoid any danger." -The tao Te ching
n the heels of Mayor Byron Brown’s most recent failure to address the root causes of gun violence with effective solutions, Buffalo Mayoral candidate India Walton joined fellow community leader and former Buffalo Police Officer Cariol Horne on Tuesday to offer an alternative vision. Walton and Horne spoke from the corner of Walden Avenue and Harmonia Street, an area of the city that has been plagued by violence and blight as a direct result of Cariol Horne (left) and India Walton. Street Legacy disinvestment from the neighborhood un- Photo by Darvin Adams der the current administration. They were joined by members of the community who have been impacted by concentrated poverty, lack of opportunity and gun violence. “The Mayor has recently said that they want to step up law enforcement in communities like this one that we’re standing in as a way to curb gun violence, and we are here to assert that more police is not the solution to the problem of community violence. The solution to that problem is more resources,” said Walton. “It’s been fifteen years. This didn’t happen overnight, this is generations of poverty, disadvantage, and being ignored and our people are saying enough. We are standing up, we are fighting back, and we are saying no more. We’re going to the polls and we’re going to make our voices heard through our vote.” “I think [the violence is] directly related to how this community looks. There’s no opportunities for our kids, we need more opportunities, and we need funding. Not for more police officers but for our children,” said Horne. As Buffalo has experienced a surge in gun violence, these crimes largely continue to remain unsolved under Byron Brown’s administration. WGRZ reported that in 2020, out of 303 shootings only 8.2% were solved and out of 55 homicides, only 23.6% were solved. Walton supports discontinuing the Buffalo Police Department’s role in mental health crisis response and traffic enforcement in order to focus their attention on actually protecting our communities and solving these violent crimes. Walton also supports fully funding and expanding proven public safety programs like Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) and violence interruption programs like Advance Peace. She believes it's time to renew our investment in proven crime prevention strategies like youth employment programs and crime prevention through environmental design. Combined, these programs promote college and career readiness, promote personal management skills, and improve family, health, and community safety by effectively curbing gun violence and the conditions that cause it. When Horne was asked by a reporter why she's supporting Walton’s campaign against the four-term incumbent Brown, she responded, “Because she’s a mom, and she cares about our community like I do.” The likely decisive Democratic Mayoral Primary takes place on June 22nd, with early voting beginning on June 12th.

The Dogon People of Mali and their Advanced Knowledge of Astronomy and Math The Dogon Tribe of Mali, West Africa has an incredibly advanced and accurate knowledge of astronomy and mathematics. Their traditions and folk ceremonies are aligned with the movements of an invisible and yet unknown star, Sirius B, which they knew traveled around Sirius every 50 years in an elliptical manner, something which was completely unknown to Western astronomers at that time. Sirius A is a bright star which can be seen in the western sky through the naked eye, but not Sirius B, its invisible companion. The Dogon people knew that Sirius B was very small but very dense or heavy. Yet its existence was proven only in 1970 when it was photographed for the first time by Western astronomers. The Dogon tribe knew about the existence of this invisible star for thousands of years. They also knew that Saturn has four moons, and has rings or halos around it, although these cannot be seen without powerful telescopes. Alien Encounters Where did the Dogon people get their knowledge of the Sirius Star system? According to tribe elders, as related to the French visitors in 1939, their knowledge of the sky was given to them by creatures who descended on Earth thousands of years ago from Sirius B. They call these creatures Nommos, who were amphibious, meaning, they Continued Page18

Are You an Emotional Eater? “We have no reason to overeat when our mind is settled and at peace” Doreen Virtue
F
ood is necessary, but not as important as we have made it. We have made food such an indispensable part of our lives, that the thought of going without food is something we never consider. Food has one purpose and one purpose only; to provide the energy the body needs to maintain the body functions necessary to sustain life and to perform some aspects of physical activity. Anytime that we eat, and it is not to fuel our body’s energetic needs, we are likely eating to fuel our body’s emotional needs. Do you eat when you feel bored, stressed, angry or sad? Do you eat when you are not really hungry, but simply out of habit? Do you struggle to release weight? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then it is likely you are an emotional eater. At the core of emotional eating and overeating is a dissatisfaction with life and with ourselves. When we engage in emotional eating and overeating it is not the food we crave or want, but the feeling or emotion that we need. Whether we want to admit it or not, it is the truth. We eat to feel joy, peace, comfort, relaxed, or calm. Emotional eating is more readily triggered by negative emotions such as anger, fear, tension, and shame. To understand emotional and overeating is to understand that the root cause is emotional hunger, not physical hunger. Emotional eating and overeating are tied directly to a desire to experience a particular emotion, and this is accomplished by eating foods which give us the desired feeling. You desire certain foods because they elicit certain emotions, and we will eat until the desired emotion is felt. Emotional eating can be conquered, and weight can be released. Remember, we don’t want to lose weight. When we lose something, we want to find it and retrieve it. We do not want to lose weight because we don’t want to find it again. Instead, we aim to release weight. Release has an energy of lovingly and gently letting go of something that no longer serves us. We can learn to navigate our emotions to avoid emotional and overeating. I have found 7 strategies to overcome my battle with emotional eating. Yes, I am an emotional eater. In my FREE E-book, Confessions of an Emotional Eater:7 Ways to Gain Freedom Over Your Fork, I describe what emotional eating is, provide a quiz to determine what kind of emotional eater you are, and list my 7 tried and true strategies to overcome emotional eating. JUNETEENTH
"A DAY OF HEALING AND RESTORATION"
Juneteenth: A Day of Healing and Restoration, hosted by National Action Network (NAN) and Attorney Rashied H. McDuffie, Esq. in partnership with WUFO, WBLK, and their incredible partners, will host a day of service to educate those who have been formerly incarcerated on how to seal misdemeanors, and in some cases felony convictions or to expunge a marijuana conviction. These leaders will then generously file the application to have those convictions sealed or expunged for those who meet the program requirements at no cost to the applicant. This one of a kind day of service is the brain-child of NAN and Rashied H. McDuffie, who tirelessly and selflessly give of their time and legal talents to those in need. Their partnership welcomes the opportunity to work collaboratively with city and community partners and so many others and have pledged to work diligently to service as many applicants as possible will take place at The Delavan Grider Center, 877 East Delavan Avenue June 17 from 6pm8pm. To Register or for questions call Rashied (716) 390-9592 or NAN at (716) 245-5273 or email at bflonan@gmail.com -The Juneteenth ConnectionJuneteeth is a nationally recognized and state recognized holiday celebrated on the 19th of June to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. The holiday was first celebrated in Texas, where on that date in 1865, in the aftermath of the Civil War, slaves were declared free under the terms of the 1862 Emancipation Proclamation. The tragic killing of George Floyd by a former Minneapolis Police Officer right before our very eyes, while other uniformed officers of the Minneapolis Police Force stood by and did nothing, has prompted leaders in law and the community to demand reforms and changes to their local police departments and the way we treat those accused of committing crimes. The upcoming Juneteeth: Day of Healing and Restoration" is one such initiative. In addition to the National Action Network (NAN) and Attorney McDuffie and partners WUFO, WBLK, and the Delavan Grider Center, other community partners include the County of Erie, State of New York, Buffalo Branch of the N.A.A.C.P, Office of Court Administration, Erie County Bar Association, Minority Bar Association, Women’s Bar Association,Sole Heirs, Back to Basics, the Buffalo Employment and Training Center (BETC), Y.A.L.E. Buffalo-bred Drummer David Jonathan Releases Second Single “White Privilege” from His Upcoming Project 400
Buffalo-bred Drummer David Jonathan Releases Second Single “White Privilege” from His upcoming project 400. The single which touches on racism and Jonathan’s experiences with police brutality in Buffalo is shaking up the local music community. The song, which is a result of the musician’s push to create original revolution songs, is a step to fight discrimination and to spread knowledge about the Black experience when performing in local venues. “I’ve been through a lot of racial profiling and racial discrimination, especially over the last 5 years...working with other artists, I started seeing things that were very disturbing. Some of those instances of my travel with previous bands I was pulled over...5 particular cases the police pulled me out of the car, and 3 of those instances I was on the ground,” Jonathan explained. David Jonathan The talented musician who has toured across the world and worked with popular artists like the Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown and Kendrick Lamar, just to name a few, has been working on 400 since 2015, but it’s just now coming to fruition. Since moving back to Buffalo a few years ago, Jonathan has put his effort into using his talent in music for social activism. “We’re in a world that, you can turn around and George Floyd can die and they cannot convict Breonna Taylor’s killers and continue to keep killing us,” Schondra Jonathan mentioned about his urgency for creating “White Privilege.” Aytch Also releasing a music video for the song soon, David Jonathan hopes to bring more conversations about racism to the forefront. David Jonathan will be performing some of his original music at Pausa Art House on July 16th at 7pm. Tickets available at https://embed.showclix.com/event/david-jonathan-the-inner-citybedlam He will also be performing at Asbury Hall on July 24th at 9pm. "NOW YOU SEE ME"
African American Cultural Center to present Unique Juneteenth Performance June 19th, 1865, widely recognized as Juneteenth, commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Now You See Me opens June 19th, 2021, and runs through June 25th presented by the African American Cultural Center’s Paul Robeson Theatre. However Now You See Me is not a play. It is a visual display of almost-abstract art, performance, and an immersive experience participants may choose to engage. Following the immersive experience, participants will be loosely-guided through an exhibit, perhaps making discoveries, perhaps just getting dirty, literally. Now You See Me explores life lessons, generational values, and the transition one makes to becoming an ancestor. This Installation is composed by Artist Yao Kahlil Newkirk, who serves as Artistic Director of the Paul Robeson Theatre. Participants will have 45 minutes to explore the installation. Performers will interact with audience members, giving them tasks, which they may or may not choose to perform. Each response determines how the performer will further engage. Daytime and evening performances will feature characters known as "The Fam, Everybody's Momma, and Pops” (Sandra Clay, Chalma Warmley, Linda Barr, Yao Kahlil Newkirk, Tequoyah Newkirk & The Newkirk Dynasty). While we work to accommodate all walks of life, some elements of this installation may not be easily accessible by wheelchair. For special services please call the Paul Robeson Theatre prior to purchasing tickets. Bill Restores NY Voting Rights For People On Parole Tiffany Cusaac-Smith ALBANY - Last month Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation giving people convicted of a felony the right to vote once they’ve been released from incarceration, building on a 2018 executive order restoring the right for many people on parole. Cuomo's signing of the legislation this week was hailed by criminal justice advocates and legislators who said that barring people from the process harkened back to segregation and continued to disenfranchise people of color. “With today's expansion of voting rights, we realize a principle that our segregation-era laws have sought to deny: every citizen has equal worth and deserves the right to vote,” said Assemblyman Danny O'Donnell, D-Manhattan. The law comes after Cuomo signed a 2018 executive order that allowed for the consideration for restoration of voting rights for people who were on parole supervision and for those being released from incarceration onto parole supervision. Under that order, Cuomo granted 67,000 conditional gubernatorial pardons that restored the voting rights for those on parole, according to the governor's office. At the time Cuomo signed the order, about 70% of those who were unable to vote while on parole were people of color. New law expands 2018 order The law builds on that order, removing the need for the pardon. It also sets a series of new measures: Before a court in New York can accept a guilty plea, the law would require the courts to tell the defendant that their conviction while serving a sentence will result in the loss of the right to vote while that person is in custody. A person released on parole will also be notified that his or her voting rights will be restored once they are released, according to the law.

Minority Bar Rates 2021 Judicial Candidates
Did you know because many states barred Black people from using public parks, to celebrate Juneteenth they had to pool their funds to have access to land to get together.
The Minority Bar Association of Western New York (MBAWNY) has completed its judicial ratings for the 2021 candidates for Buffalo City Court, Niagara Falls City Court, Erie County Family Court, and New York State Supreme Court. The Judicial Ratings Committee will reconvene at the end of August to rate additional judicial candidates who seek to receive a rating for the General Election and who were not already rated by the Committee this year.
The BEOC encourages you to celebrate Juneteenth by visiting our website (buffalo. edu/eoc) and learn how to get your high school e quivalency diploma or enter a field in allied health or security.
The MBAWNY utilizes a four-level rating system of Superior, Well Qualified, Qualified, and Cannot Recommend. The first step in the judicial ratings process requires the candidates to request and complete a written questionnaire where they are rated on several criteria: experience, mental fitness, educations, ethics, and involvement with the MBAWNY and minority community. The candidates were then personally interviewed by legal professionals who have interacted with the candidates. Below please find the ratings that have been given to each of the candidates who requested a review. The ratings have been certified by the MBAWNY executive board. Justice Delayed and Denied Because Justice Lied!
Derrick Carr, Adrian Javon, Malik Rainey and Brandon Watson.
Buffalo Artists/Entrepreneurs Featured in Time Magazine
F
our talented young men from Buffalo, all in their 20’s, were featured nationally in the May 24/31 edition of Time Magazine. In a featured section titled “The Equity Agenda,” five community pods around the country followed what editors called a “legacy of care” which spotlighted strength in community during the past year of the pandemic. Serving as a vital support system to its members, these spaces provided much needed respite and solidarity. Derrick Carr, Adrian Javon, Malik Rainey and Brandon Watson, whose specialties range from advertising to photo journalism, formed a studio pod to support one another. Time writes: “We were all we had,” says Rainey, 21. They strive to elevate Black talent and other talent of color in their work, and regularly share opportunities whenever one hears of something that might be a fit for the other. “In our group what we believe is uplifting each other,” Rainey says. In what he describes as a “very whitewashed profession,” they are eager to show it’s possible to be a successful Black photographer. And their relationships extend beyond photography: “At the end of the day,” Rainey says, “we’re human beings first we’re artists second.” The photography, which appeared in Time Magazine above, was done by Malik Rainey for Time.

A news reporter from a local TV station covered the Buffalo 5 trial last Thursday and he stated that retired State Supreme Court Judge and assistant DA, at the time of the murders in 1977, said that he did not believe the guys were innocent and that their protestations of innocence were an 'urban myth' and also that they were simply going to trial to get a lawsuit going. How insulting can he be to say that when these men who have been fighting for over 20 years to clear their names of a murder they did not commit. To suggest they were just doing it to sue the City or the Buffalo Police Department or the Erie County District Attorney's office is ofensive and absurd! The simple truth is, evidence that could have exonerated the Buffalo 5 was either lost or destroyed on purpose. Pictures of footprints that showed that the real killer of Mr. William Crawford was a 200 pound person who wore a size 12 shoe size, mysteriously disappeared from the police evidence room sometime between the first two and last two trials. All of the accused teenagers weighed less than 150 lbs and none had a foot size larger than a size 10 shoe. Also, pictures that showed the only footprints leading up his driveway were those of the victim's and not the five young, 16 years old boys who were tried and convicted of being the killers. What is not an urban myth, Judge Drury, is that you, as the Assistant DA prosecutor, took the false testimony of a scared and police-bullied youth and used it to convict three innocent boys while you and your office gave complete immunity to their friend who lied about their involvement in the crime. Whether the men from the Buffalo 5 have a case for a lawsuit is not relevant or important right now. What is important and needs to be addressed now, is the motion to overturn Indictment 41-413. Those are the numbers that identify the living hell these men have lived under since that day, so many years ago, when the city of Buffalo and the county's DA office targeted, arrested, tried and convicted three of the 5 young men, stole over 20 years of their young lives and made them pay for a crime they did not commit.

O
INDIA WALTON FOR MAYOR
n March 4 we ran a front page story asking the question, “Who is India Walton and Why is She Running for Mayor?” Her response was that she decided to enter the race against Mayor Brown, a 15-year entrenched incumbent, because she was tired of seeing her community in the condition that it was in. She pointed to the fact that Buffalo was one of the nation’s poorest cities; that nearly half our children (Black) live in poverty; and the cranes in the sky were building all around the “hole in the donut” (the inner city) for Canal Side, the medical corridor or South Buffalo renaissance . Her attitude was simply - if no one else would challenge the status quo - I will. Since that time she has made it very clear, that she is running to break down barriers. And she’s attracted sizable support from people who are equally tired of a decade and a half of stagnation and politricks. We endorse India Walton in her noble quest, based on the strength that she dared to step to the plate to give voters a choice. Not to mention that at 38 years young - she is qualified, experienced, intelligent, organized, and as her campaign slogan touts: Real. Resilient. Ready! She takes pride in declaring that she is not a career politician. •She is a Registered Nurse who’s saved lives, a single mother of four and community leader . •She has received some solid endorsements - most recently from the Buffalo Teachers Federation and earlier by the Working Families Party and at least two national political organizations - and has raised a sizable amount of money for her campaign. •She is a non-profit leader who’s built affordable housing and successfully fought gentrification •She served as a Union Rep •She’s been a leader in the fight to reform our criminal justice system •She is a founding Executive Director of the Fruit Belt Community Land Trust •Her platform includes fighting to bring down our rents and making it easier for working class to buy a home •She served as a community organizer for Open Buffalo •She was a voice in the local Black Lives Matter Moment India is sensitive and knowledgeable about issues that impact the lives of everyday people. Her presence in this race is a breath of fresh air. We are impressed with her tenacity, her intelligence, her fearless determination and her ability to effectively speak truth to power and bring pertinent issues to the forefront. She and other promising young progressives like her, are the future! Join us in supporting and voting India Walton for Mayor on Primary Election Day, June 22!* *(Don’t forget you can vote early between June 12. - June 20. See Page 7)

KIMBERLY BEATY FOR SHERIFF
K
imberly L. Beaty is without question the most qualified and experienced candidate in the race for Sheriff of Erie County. Her over three decades of policing and professional experience is coupled with a genuine desire to change the department’s culture of death and mistrust left in the wake of the departing Sheriff Timothy Howard. Over 30 people have died from abuse, neglect or mistreatment as well as suicide in Howard’s Holding Center since he took office in 2005. The highest ranked officer in the race, Kimberly’s expertise in deputy training, especially relating to inmate care, mental health and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will be a great asset. Behind that pleasant smile is a steely resolve and commitment to “do the right thing” as it relates to the communities she and her men and women are sworn to serve. In her own words, she is running for Sheriff “to restore trust between law enforcement and the communities they are sworn to protect …” It is encouraging to know that she is in agreement with many of the recommendations from the Police Reform Task force for the Sheriff’s Department as well as recommendations made by community organizations. She has vowed not to “look the other way” when abuse, neglect and unprofessional behavior occurs. The challenges she faces are daunting. For example, as of January 2018, Erie County taxpayers spent nearly $2.5 million settling lawsuits that arose from deaths, injuries, and illnesses at its jails. A February 2018 report by the Commission of Correction found Erie County jails to be among the “most problematic local correctional facilities in the state.” But Kim Beaty is up to the task. Her platform includes: •Working hard to restore trust and demand professionalism •Making the sheriff’s office more diverse and transparent •Seeking innovative, creative solutions to medical issues facing jail inmates •Ending solitary confinement •Treating families and visitors with respect and dignity •Keeping families together Last but not least, Kim is a “community daughter” - born and raised in Buffalo. We know her from her many years of community involvement. She is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. She is a wife and mother and is currently Director of Public Safety at Canisius College, her alma mater. A Vote For Kim Beaty Is A Vote For Decency. A Vote For Real Change. A Vote that assures if ever a loved one goes to jail, he/she will come out alive. Kimberly L. Beaty has what it takes to be one amazing, history-making Sheriff . All she needs is our vote on Primary Election Day Tuesday June 22.* She can win! *(Don’t forget you can vote early between June 12. - June 20. See Page 7)
Black Heritage For Sale! Word that the city is planning to sell the space/land surrounding the Michigan Street Baptist Church and the Nash House to outside developers has led the Michigan Street African American Corridor to rally the community in support of their appeal to Mayor Brown and Council President. Pridgen to place a moratorium of development on these lots and name the Michigan Street African American Heritage. The fact that this appeal even has to be made is a travesty and an outrage. Here is a copy of the appeal going out to citizens: Dear community member, The Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor has been the epicenter of African American History in Buffalo for well over 180 years. As you may know, the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor Commission (MSAAHCC) has recently undertaken a process of strategic planning to help strengthen and develop the Corridor into a place that celebrates this history. We envision a vibrant corridor that commemorates the history and heritage of this neighborhood. We have heard from you (the community) that the spaces surrounding the Michigan Street Baptist Church and the Nash House should be preserved as a contemplative space to reflect on African American history in Buffalo. Recently, it has come to our attention that the space between these two historic structures are in danger of being sold to outside developers. We ask that you stand with us to help preserve these spaces by letting the city know that we—the public—want to be the ones who determine what goes into these spaces. …Send an email to Council President Darius Pridgen and Mayor Byron Brown to ask them to place a moratorium of development on these lots and name the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor Commission as the designated developer to ensure that your voices are heard. Terry Alford Executive Director The Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor Commission

Anthony Davis’s continued ailments proved to be too much to overcome as Devin Booker looks to become “legendary”! #3 Denver beat #6 Portland 4-2. Two was better than one in this series as Paul George and Kawhi Leonard put a stop to whatever Luka magic there was left in the only game seven of the first round. Eastern Conference #1 Philadelphia beat #8 Washington 4-1. Westbrook and Beal were not enough to contend with the other probable MVP Embiid and his sidekick Ben Simmons. #2 Brooklyn beat #7 Boston 4-1. Such list contains as to each such parcel (a) a brief description of the property affected by each tax lien, (b) the name of the last known owner of such property as it appears on the latest tax roll in the hands of the Director of Real Property Tax Services or a statement that the owner is unknown if such be the case, (c) a statement of such tax liens upon such parcel of property including any tax sale certificates owned by the County of Erie which shall have been due for less than two years, together with the interest and penalties due as of the list date and (d) a statement that the amount required to redeem any such parcel of property, and the amount to be recovered by the County of Erie, includes all tax sale certificates owned by the County of Erie and affecting such property, together with all interest, penalties, additions and expenses as in this act provided, and also includes an “in rem fee” of $500.00 per parcel to cover the presumptive cost to the County of Erie for reasonable and necessary attorneys’ fees, abstracts of title and other disbursements in connection with such foreclosure pursuant to law. The above-captioned proceeding was commenced to enforce the payment of delinquent taxes which have accumulated and become liens against certain property. The parcels to which this proceeding applies were identified on the List of Delinquent Taxes which was filed in the Erie County Clerk’s Office on the 10th day of May, 2021. Take further notice that the ownership by the County of the tax sale certificates set forth on the List of Delinquent Taxes is conclusive evidence of the fact that the taxes, assessments and other legal charges represented thereby have not been paid to the County. EFFECT OF FILING: All persons having or claiming to have an interest in the real property described in the List of Delinquent Taxes are hereby notified that the filing of said List constituted the commencement by the County of Erie of a proceeding in the County Court to foreclose each of the tax liens therein described by a foreclosure proceeding In Rem. Pursuant to Section 11-7.0 of the Erie County Tax Act, the filing of such List of Delinquent Taxes constitutes and has the same force and effect and is deemed to have given the same notice of such foreclosure proceeding as the filing and recording in the Erie County Clerk’s Office of an individual Notice of Pendency of a Tax Foreclosure Action and of the filing in the County Court of a separate and individual Complaint by the County of Erie against the owners of the real property proceeded against and described in the List of Delinquent Taxes. NATURE OF PROCEEDING: This proceeding is brought against the real property only and is to foreclose the tax liens described in the List of Delinquent Taxes. No personal judgment will be entered herein for such liens/taxes or other legal charges or any part thereof.
PERSONS AFFECTED: This notice is directed to all persons having or claiming to have an interest in the real property described in the List of Delinquent Taxes. Such persons are hereby notified further that a duplicate of this Petition and the List of Delinquent Taxes has been filed in the Erie County Clerk’s Office and the Office of Real Property Tax Services and will remain open for public inspection up to and including the date specified below as the last day of redemption. RIGHT OF REDEMPTION: Any person having or claiming to have an interest in any such real property and the legal right thereto may on or before the 7th day of July, 2021 redeem the same by paying the amount of all such unpaid tax liens thereon, including all interest and penalties and other legal charges which are included in the lien against such real property, computed to and including the date of redemption. Payments shall be made to: Director of Real Property Tax Services, Rath Building, 95 Franklin Street, Buffalo, New York, 14202, by CASH, CERTIFIED CHECK, BANK CHECK or MONEY ORDER. In the event that such tax liens are paid by a person other than the record owner of such real property, the person so paying shall be entitled to have the tax liens affected thereby satisfied of record or to receive an assignment of such tax liens evidenced by a proper written instrument. LAST DAY OF REDEMPTION: The last day of redemption is hereby fixed as the 7th day of July, 2021. SERVICE OF ANSWER: Every person having any right, title or interest in or lien upon any parcel of real property described in the List of Delinquent Taxes may serve a duly verified Answer upon the attorney for the Tax District, as set forth below, setting forth in detail the nature and amount of his or her interest, and any defense or objection to the foreclosure. Such Answer must be filed in the office of the County Clerk and served upon the attorney for the Tax District, Margaret A. Hurley, Esq., Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman, LLP, 50 Fountain Plaza, Suite 1700, Buffalo, New York, 14202, (716) 8843135, on or before the 28th day of July 2021. FAILURE TO REDEEM OR ANSWER: In the event of failure to redeem or answer by any person having the right to redeem or answer, such person shall be forever barred and foreclosed of all his or her right, title and interest and equity of redemption in and to the parcel described in the List of Delinquent Taxes and a judgment in foreclosure may be taken by default.

lived both on water and dry land. And they had very advanced knowledge of astronomy and mathematics. To Western scientists, such stories of extraterrestrial contacts are merely myths handed down from one generation to another, but to the Dogon people they are as solid as the ground they stand on. Information about the extraterrestrial origin of the Dogon Tribe’s accurate astronomical knowledge is the topic of the well-documented book by Robert Temple, “The Sirius Mystery,” published by Random House in London in 1977 and revised in 1998. In that book, Temple boldly and categorically stated that there must have been contact with advanced extraterrestrial creatures as far back as 5000 and 3000 B.C. According to Temple, not only the Dogon Tribe of West Africa but also the ancient Babylonians and Egyptians spoke of creatures who came from the Sirius Star system. And their oral traditions agree that these ETs were amphibious.
