In addition, Rochester credits his wife, Beverly, for her sup port during treatment. “She was my rock,” he says. “Every ap pointment I had, she was right there. She was always telling me, ‘Honey, four ears are better than two.’ Sometimes there are things us men don’t want to hear, especially when it comes to prostate cancer and your ability to do the things you think are normal, including sex.” She was also able to understand and relate to some of the changes Rochester went through during his treatment, like hot flashes when he was on hormonal therapy. “She’d toss me a towel and say now I knew what she had gone through with menopause. Now he wants to help save others from another experience he has endured: He’s a prostate cancer sur vivor.
After watching the football game between a satisfied team Rams versus a hungry team Bills, shows that winning The Super Bowl is what teams are playing for and what matters the most.
Bills Beatdown The Rams The saying goes "no one circles the wag ons like the Buf falo Bills." Well right now ev eryone's wagons are circling the Bills. Josh Al len threw for 297 yards and 3 touchdowns. Bills defense re corded 7 sacks. Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis combined for over 200 yards and 2 touch downs against the Rams sec ondary. Final Score 31-10. \ Titans will likely suffer the same fate on Monday Night Football at Highmark Sta dium.
It’s only one game and we must wait until Bills play close games and how Head Coach Sean McDermott reacts in these tense situations. McDermott said this about Josh Allen running the football: “We had a pass called but Josh ran with ball. That’s something we can do better as coaches and we will be moving forward. We will give opportunities earned in regards to James Cook getting more touches with the ball.”
The Bills coaches and front office have always valued the veteran leadership they’ve gotten from the likes of former players like Kyle Williams, Lorenzo Alexander, Jerry Hughes and others. Von Miller may be the perfect guy to carry that mantle forward because what makes him different is that he is a bona fide, future Hall of Famer, who has traveled this road before. Von Miller is like EF Hutton, when he talks, people listen. And that is no small thing to have in the locker room during the endless grind of an NFL season.

or 30 years, Rochester Davis served his community as a member of the Buffalo Fire Department. Prior to that, he served his nation during the Vietnam War. He is a man of valor who understands the great responsibility he has had when it comes to saving lives.

Rise Up Right Sports Highlights
Bills Shock the World But Can They Hold the Line Against ‘King’ Henry
The Bills came out focused and had complete domination of a sluggish Super Bowl hung over Rams team resulting in a 31-10 blowout win. You could see by all the talk at Training Camp at St. John Fisher University that confidence was running high and most veteran players felt this team would not only be competitive but a dominating force throughout the season. We saw in week one a dominating performance by everyone in a Bills uniform.

In the “you get what you pay for” category former Buffalo Bills edge rusher Jerry Hughes had two sacks last season and his replacement, 120 million Dollar contract holder Von Miller had two sacks in 35 minutes. I was very impressed how Miller’s influence on and off the field has transformed the defensive line into a front that can stop the run and pass. We’re already seeing Ed Oliver, JaQuan Jones, Boogie Basham, and Greg Rosseau benefit from Von Miller’s presence.
What has gotten into Bills running back Devin Singletary taking on tacklers with a physical style? The only negative is Bills must run the ball more with their backs and not with Josh Allen. Allen is too important to the Bills chances of winning a Super Bowl and keeping him upright should be most important goal of team. Especially in games when Bills are up by two scores or more.
NFL Notable Injury News/ Fantasy Football Alerts
•Tee Higgins suffered a con cussion.

The Bills offensive line played well and the continuity will get better the longer they play together. The Bills open home schedule with a Monday night game will be against the Tennessee Titans. The Bills must stop running back Derrick Henry and force an average QB, Tannehill, into throwing situations. The Titans’ receivers are really below average in today’s NFL. Bills Defen sive Coordinator will disguise the coverages and Bills should get one of their demons from last year off their backs with a 28 – 17 win.
During the trial, Dr. Chatta led an educational group for oth ers in the trial, providing information on ways the participants could stay healthy and reduce their side effects. “Dr. Chatta pro vided me with all the information I needed to get through the hormones and keeping my body in a position where the side effects were negligible. Finally, it is important for us and the Bills not to get too far ahead of ourselves. As we know, the NFL is a marathon, not a sprint. So many things can happen during the course of a grueling NFL season. Imagine Josh Allen getting injured on one of his all too frequent forays run ning the football into the teeth of the defense. If that happens, the deliriously exciting prospect of a Buffalo Super Bowl run would turn on a dime. If Ken Dorsey, the new OC, who called a great first game against the Rams, is listening - please go easy on the Josh Allen runs. He is the one indispensable player that the Bills cannot afford to lose.

“Coming to Roswell Park was the greatest decision I made,” he says. He had a prostatectomy with James Mohler, MD, now the Chair Emeritus of the Department of Urology at Roswell Park.
here is no doubt that the Bills have affirmed their lofty status as a Super Bowl favorite by running roughshod over the defending champion LA Rams. The Bills won this game with stunning ease, as they dominated from start to finish. And one thing was made very clear to me, the Bills look as balanced on both sides of the ball as any Buffalo team ever assembled. And while it was great that the Bills showed-out on offense, that was almost to be expected. There is no doubt that the Buffalo offense, led by Josh Allen, is as potent as any in the league. But what stood out to me was the play of the defense, where Von Miller showed us why Brandon ‘Trader’ Beane inked him to a 2-year rental deal, even at the advanced football age of 34. What Miller still brings to the table is freakishly great athletic ability that seems not to have diminished one iota. But what may be an even greater con tribution is the leadership Miller brings, the example he sets, and the way he has become ‘Big Daddy’ to the Bills bevy of young defensive line talent. The young guys like Greg Rousseau, Boogie Basham, AJ Epenesa, et al., are all anxious to show Miller that they’ve picked up a trick or two under his veteran tutelage.

The running game should take presence with Zack Moss, Devin Single tary, and James Cook. Hopefully Cook can resolve his fumbling, or practice squad player Raheem Blackshear could be put into service. I think Cook runs very straight up and will be prone to tak ing hard hits until he learns to lower his shoulders in order not to take big hits but give them out.

Rochester is also an active member of Us Too, another support group for men with can cer, and has given seminars with the Buffalo Fire Department about the increased risks faced by first responders. “We used to use foam to put out fires and that foam has now been linked with cancer. Other carcinogens that you have in a fire enter your clothing and your lungs. As firefighters, they have to get a physical once a year. We have excellent insurance. All you have to do is go. My other thing is, deal with your (PSA) numbers. They’re so important. Most men don’t realize that if your PSA number doubles from one year to the next, you’re in trouble. We want to express that to men, to take advantage of the situation and be educated.”

Nora Massey: “An Awesome Woman of God”
According to a popular African Proverb, “Our children are our future our life after Perhapsdeath.”noone understood and embodied that truth better than Dr. Theresa A. Harris-Tigg .

Buffalo born and raised, Dr. Harris-Tigg, beautiful inside and out, was an outstanding educator who dedicated her life to ensuring our children received a good education.
Bro. Sam Radford outspoken parent and children’s advocate of We The Par ents organization paid tribute to Dr. Tigg on his weekly talk show last Saturday, “ When the teachers union went on strike she (Dr. Tigg) was one of the few teachers who crossed the picket line,” he recalled. “ She said there were things more important than teacher benefits. That’s the spirit that we need now ,” he continued. “Dr. Tiggs crossed the picket line because she said that our children should be taught and she was not going to fight for her own personal benefits at the expense of our children . She said they (teachers union) had to do it a dif ferent way other than putting our children and their benefits at bey or at risk , so she crossed that picket line.”
Family and friends are asking you to continue to support her endeavors. If you are interested in helping her in any way, please contact her via email: massey_nora@yahoo.com.
Dr. Harris-Tigg made her Transition last Tuesday September 6 in her home in Buffalo at 67-years-young. Homegoing services were held on Saturday Sep tember 10 at New Covenant Baptist Church.
Services were held at New Covenant United Church of Christ on Clinton Street where she was ordained as a Deacon by Pastor Jacquelyn Ross Brown, (an event de scribed as her greatest honor) who was also the officiant Eulogist at her service.

Please allow me to re-introduce myself to The Challenger readership. As you can see from the byline, my name is Greg Brown. I was a sports writer for this newspaper starting in the late 70's, throughout the 80's and well into the early 90's. My last column came on February 3, 1993, the occasion of the Bills third straight Super Bowl loss and the first of their two consecutive losses to America’s team, the Dallas Cowboys. Af ter that miserable defeat I set aside my journalistic avocation in order to devote more time to the growing demands of my day job as a government lawyer.

In a younger generation of Africans growing up in a postcolonial world, some lamented that the queen never faced up to the grim aftermath of colonialism and empire, or issued an official apology. They said they wanted to use the moment to recall the oppression and horrors their parents and grandpar ents endured in the name of the Crown, and to urge for the return of crown jewels — rare massive diamonds — taken from the continent.
“You can look at the monarchy from the point of view of high tea and nice outfits and charity,” said Alice Mugo, 34, a lawyer in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. “But there’s also the ugly side, and for you to ignore the ugly side is dishonest.” Mugo said she recently found her grandmother’s “movement pass,” issued when the British colonial government in Kenya declared a state of emergency to help suppress the anti-colo nial Mau Mau rebellion. The passes restricted the free move ment of Kenyans.
Again – criticism of this project is not just about money. The American Civil Liberties Union, for ex ample, is concerned with ShotSpotter leading to a increase of “Stop and frisk” tactics by police.
•ShotSpotter false alarms send police on numerous trips (in Chicago, more than 60 times a day) into communities for no reason and on high alert expecting to potentially confront a dangerous situation. Given the already tragic number of shootings of Black people by police, that is a recipe for trouble.
Earlier
For too long we have de pended on outside forces to service our EVERY need.
“God Save The Queen”: UK's Bloody Colonial Past
First, as the MacArthur Justice Center details, ShotSpotter is deployed overwhelmingly in communities of color, which already disproportionately bear the brunt of a heavy police presence. The police say they pick neighborhoods for deployment based on where the most shootings are, but there are several problems with that:
I have the upmost re spect for the scholar
•The placement of sensors in some neighborhoods but not others means that the police will detect more incidents (real or false) in places where the sensors are located. That can distort gunfire statistics and create a circular statistical justification for over-policing in communi ties ofSecond, color.
Additionally, according to research the New York City and Chicago police departments spend millions of dollars a year on gunshot detection technology that a privacy group argues is ineffective and invasive.

Controversial ShotSpotter Gunshot Detection System. The City Rejected it Once. Why are They Trying it Again?
this year the Common Council pulled funding for the controversial ShotSpotter program from Mayor Brown’s proposed budget after criticism from community lead ers, residents and advocates.
Those mourning the queen’s death, Mugo said, were not aware of how her government robbed millions of basic free doms.
Similar sentiments were echoed by a South African political party, Economic Freedom Fighters, which said in a statement that it would not mourn the queen, “because to us her death is a reminder of a very tragic period in this country and Af rica’s history.”The queen, they wrote, was the “head of an institution built up, sustained and living off a brutal legacy of dehumanization of millions of people across the world.”
Hare.historianandImust also express my sincere appreciation to my Elder Sister Alnisa for allowing me to speak to my community and the world thru the pages of this paper. We are very fortunate as a communi ty to have such valuable plat forms that allow us to speak truth to power. As a people we need to come and stand as one and claim our identity. We have to stop working against each other. Marcus Garvey once had Africans living ev erywhere on the planet say ing that they were AFRICAN! Now look at us. We’re so divided now. And that’s a dangerous thing. As the say ing goes – united we stand, divided we fall….
once said, “Nobody wins when the family feuds” and I believe this statement could not ring truer than now in the state of our education system. I would like to think of all of us who have a vested interest in the education of our children as family, and right now we have quite a feud brewing be tween two members of our family. The Buf falo Teachers Federation and The District are in the middle of a tense contract nego tiation. Things got a little messy when the district released the offer that Phil Rumore (BTF President) put on the table, which in cluded moving the average teacher salary from $70,000 to $165,000. The district obviously rejected that deal and now we find ourselves with shots being thrown from both sides.
Unity is of the utmost importance in developing our own economic power.
There are several other very significant civil liberties problems with the technology.
We must change our mindset and provide for SELF. Do for SELF and harness the Eco nomic power of the Black community. Right now it is hard for Black businesses to thrive in many Black com munities. If monies being spent in the black commu nity stayed in the community longer we can achieve more.
Finally, still up for debate is whether ShotSpotter’s technology is even effective. We can ar gue over a technology’s civil liberties implications until the end of time, but if it’s not effective there’s no reason to bother. A number of cities have stopped using the technology after decid ing that ShotSpotter creates too many false positives (reporting gunshots where there were none) and false negatives (missing gunshots that did take place). The MacArthur Justice Center’s report found that in Chicago, initial police responses to 88.7 percent of ShotSpot ter alerts found no incidents involving a gun. The company disputes whether this means its technology is inaccurate, pointing out that someone can shoot a gun but leave no evidence behind. But a review of the accuracy debate by IPVM concluded that “while public data does not enable a definitive estimation of false alerts,” the problem “is likely significantly greater than what ShotSpotter insinuates” because the company “uses misleading assumptions and a misleading accuracy calculation” in their advertised accuracy rates.
Remember Black Wall Street? My people we can do it again. We just have to stop being a foolish people and be the proud people we once were. I’m down with MAGA: Make Africa Great Again!
Iwas surprised and hon ored to learn that my last article was discussed on L. Nathan Hare’s radio show, Living Now on WUFO, which airs every Sat urday morn ing.
And it wasn’t just about money.
It was while a young Elizabeth was on an official tour of Kenya, in 1952, that she learned of her father’s death and that she would become queen. The clampdown on Kenyans, which began just months after the queen ascended the throne, led to the establishment of a vast system of detention camps and the torture, rape, castration and killing of tens of thousands of people.
So Mr. Wingo and the police brass are reportedly talking to the representatives of ShotSpotter about setting up a 3-6 month pilot program at no cost to the city to evaluate the “acoustic gunshot detection service.”
VOICES
Given all of these problems, communities and the police departments serving them should reject this technology, at least until these problems are addressed, including through full transparency into its operation and efficacy.
According to a recent News report, he said the “Masten district residents want this.”

I’m Just Saying...
NAIROBI, Kenya — Though Queen Elizabeth II was re vered by many in Africa, her death also reignited a different sort of conversation — one that touched on the legacy of the British Empire and the brutality the monarchy meted out to people in its former colonies.
ShotSpotter’s methodology is used to provide evidence against defendants in criminal cases, but isn’t transparent and hasn’t been peer-reviewed or otherwise indepen dently evaluated. That simply isn’t acceptable for data that is used in court.
So if the city rejected it once, why is Council Member Ulysees Wingo re-introducing the idea?

Jay-Z goes on to say, “I know why I’m here, how 'bout you?” This is the question that we all should be asking our selves when we see things like this happening. While we understand why the adults are negotiating, what’s happening to the students? We still have children spending hours on the bus in the morning, hours at the bus stops and hours af ter school. We have students who, the last time tested, were not proficient in reading or math. So, let’s tally up what’s happening! 1.All central administrators received 7% raise 2. Teachers, whenever they sign a contract, will sign for the most in district history 3. Our students still can’t get to school on time. I know Jay-Z says, ‘no one wins when the family feuds” and I agree. But what’s also true is WE ALL LOSE when the family feuds!!!!!
Get Involved and Stay Informed !
Following are excerpts from a report from the ACLU, “Four Problems With the ShotSpot ter Gunshot Detection Program":
While Adults Win, Students Lose Jay-Z
In closing to my people who have a word that needs to be heard, reach out to our sister Alnisa and listen to Bro. Nate. The platforms are available to you! If our story is not being told, it’s because you’re not doing your part and telling it or supporting those who are. Know Thy Self! Get involved, stay informed and share the knowledge!
A critical report on the ShotSpotter gunshot detection system issued ... by the City of Chi cago’s Inspector General (IG) is the latest indication of deep problems with the gunshot detection company and its technology, including its methodology, effectiveness, impact on communities of color, and relationship with law enforcement. The report questioned the “op erational value” of the technology and found that it increases the incidence of stop and frisk tactics by police officers in some neighborhoods.
Further calling into question is the appropriateness of ShotSpotter evidence for use in court is a third problem: the company’s apparent tight relationship with law enforcement.
•Indeed, the Chicago IG’s analysis of Chicago police data found that the “perceived ag gregate frequency of ShotSpotter alerts” in some neighborhoods leads officers to engage in more stops and pat downs.
