SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND…

This evening, we stand by each other for one of the last times here as a class and it is most fitting that it is to celebrate with the Eucharist. We are here to thank God for the blessings given to us during our time here. For this mass, we chose the theme "Shine Bright Like a Diamond." Diamonds are formed deep within the earth’s surface. They start out as simple carbon atoms, but under the heavy weight and pressure of the earth, along with high temperature, they transform into diamonds. And in time, they are brought to the surface. Throughout our time at Chaminade, we have been through a great deal – the heavy weight of a global pandemic, the normal pressures of growing up and doing our best in school -- but all this has made us even more beautiful and strong. Through the guidance and support of our parents, families, friends, and Chaminade, we emerge ready to radiate our God-given light within a world in need. We recognize all the talents that the Class of 2023 possesses and we are excited to reflect that light wherever we may go.

Gathering Song : “ O Come to the Altar”

Verse 1:

Are you hurting and broken within?

Overwhelmed by the weight of your sin?

Jesus is calling

Have you come to the end of yourself

Do you thirst for a drink from the well?

Jesus is calling

Refrain:

O come to the altar, The Father's arms are open wide

Forgiveness was bought with The precious blood of Jesus Christ

Verse 2:

Leave behind your regrets and mistakes

Come today, there's no reason to wait

Jesus is calling

Bring your sorrows and trade them for joy

From the ashes, a new life is born

Jesus is calling

Refrain

Bridge:

Oh, what a Savior isn't He wonderful?

Sing Hallelujah, Christ is risen.

Bow down before Him, for He is Lord of all

Sing Hallelujah, Christ is risen

Bow down before Him, for He is Lord of all

Sing Hallelujah, Christ is risen

Introductory

FIRST READING (Jeremiah 1: 4-9)

A reading from the Book of the prophet Jeremiah.

The word of the LORD came to me:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you.

“Ah, Lord GOD!” I said, “I do not know how to speak. I am too young!” But the LORD answered me,Do not say, “I am too young.” To whomever I send you, you shall go; whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you oracle of the LORD.

Then the LORD extended his hand and touched my mouth, saying to me, See, I place my words in your mouth!

The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM: (Psalm 27)

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?

The Lord is my life’s refuge; of whom should I be afraid?

SECOND READING (Ephesians 3: 14-21)

A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians.

For this reason I fall on my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth receives its true name. I ask God from the wealth of his glory to give you power through his Spirit to be strong in your inner selves, and I pray that Christ will make his home in your hearts through faith. I pray that you may have your roots and foundation in love, so that you, together with all God's people, may have the power to understand how broad and long, how high and deep, is Christ's love. Yes, may you come to know his love although it can never be fully known and so be completely filled with the very nature of God. To him who by

means of his power working in us is able to do so much more than we can ever ask for, or even think of: to God be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus for all time, forever and ever! Amen.

Lector: The Word of the Lord. All: Thanks be to God.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (Mass of Restoration)

Refrain: Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! (2x)

GOSPEL (Matthew 5: 13-16)

Priest: The Lord be with you. All: And with your Spirit.

Priest: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew All: Glory to You, O Lord.

You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its taste, with what can it be seasoned? It is no longer good for anything but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden.

Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house.

Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.

Priest: The Gospel of the Lord. All: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ.

Communion Song

“O NE B READ, O NE C UP ”

(Lyrics by Bobby Fisher, Greg Lee, Craig Aven, Ken Canedo)

Verse 1:

We all come before you now Hungry for your healing touch. Here we stand with open hearts, Thirsting for your touch. You are the one who fills our every need, So with one voice we lift our hearts in unity.

Refrain:

One bread, one cup, one body in Christ, united in love. One bread, one cup, one living sacrifice, poured out in your blood. Holy Spirit, renew us, that in in each other we may see you. Gathered as one family in love, one bread, one cup.

Verse 2:

As we gather at your table, broken like the bread we share, Fill our hearts with your compassion for a world in need of care. You are the way, you are the life, you are the truth. The source of our salvation, we find new life in you.

Family of Mary Awards

The Family of Mary Award is one of the most significant awards that Chaminade gives at the end of each year. This is an award that is presented to a family graduating from Chaminade. We recognize in a special way those families who have made a long-standing commitment to Chaminade, sending not just one or two children to the school, but three or more children over the course of their tenure at Chaminade.

May the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit be glorified in all places through the Immaculate Virgin Mary. Amen.

You only need a spark to start a whole blaze

It only takes a little faith

Let it start right here in this city

So these old walls will never be the same Over and over again

I hear Your voice in my head

They need to know, I need to go Spirit won't You fall on my heart now
