Piedmont Fayette Brings Back Walk With A Doc
On the third Saturday of every month, from May through October, a physician from Piedmont Fayette Hospital leads a Walk with a Doc event in Peachtree City. Participants get some fresh air and exercise, hear about topics important to the physician and get to know them outside the office. The walk starts at the Peachtree City Farmers Market at Aberdeen Village and goes to Battery Park and back (approximately 40 minutes). The walk begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. and lasts approximately 45 minutes. Reservations are required. Email PFHRSVP@piedmont. org to save your spot. Spring and Summer mean blue skies and the urge to get outdoors. Here are some tips to keep you healthy! ■ Use Lots of Sunscreen Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the United States. Protect yourself especially between 10am and 4pm when the sun’s UV (ultraviolet) rays are strongest by applying sunscreen with UVA & UVB protection and an SPF of 30 or higher. Children should wear a waterproof sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher. Reapply it every 2 hours when at the pool or beach.
■ Protect Your Eyes When outdoors, wear sunglasses that block at least 99% of ultraviolet A and B rays.
■ Stay Hydrated How much water you should drink varies for each person, depending on your diet, weight, level of exercise, and a variety of other factors. In regular temperatures, drink at least three liters per day. Drink more in the summer! ■ Keep It Cool Exercise in shady areas or in the morning or evening, when it is likely to be cooler outdoors. ■ Keep It Loose Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing to help sweat evaporate and keep you cooler. If possible, wear a light-colored, wide-brimmed hat.
