Sequence Çžne

vv

Following my storyboard and specific timelines I realised that for this sequence I would need to take some time over it.

To make it appear that the type is going upward and backwards then I need to toggle the 3D button. Here I have changed the position of the anchor point so the text is essentially swinging on a pivot. I then changed the Y axis to give the appearance of perspective. For a while I was just using Y rotation and Z rotation- this gave me a look of moving backward and upwards, however, it didn’t really represent a pivoting on an axis movement that I wanted to achieve. Now I have taken into consideration Orientation it all works as I would like. Using this gives a perspective as if it were sitting on an angle. Leaning slanted.

Opening up a document correctly:

Krungthep Regular I chose this typeface because it looks digital, and uses existing rules to create these connotations. I also felt that the difference in weight within individual letterforms gave it a more irratic look that reflects ‘disperse’.

I need to remember that EACH of the THREE SETTINGS in ORIENTATION makes CONSIDERABLE CHANGE.

Crack. I created a cracked ‘E’ on Illustrator and imported it onto AfterEffects. This is for when the type hits the screen

From this I then made two key frames. One at the beginning of the animation and one where I wanted to effect the change. The first was opacity at 100% so that it was invisible until the next 0% key frame at the point of impact. I had to make sure that I toggled the hold key frame so that there wasn’t a graduation of tone, just a quick change. Here I ran into a problem. I was working with many different layers that needed exactly the same key frames each time I moved the type. This is because of the copied, lowered opacity type and the cracked ‘E’. I essentially wanted to merge these four layers together as in Photoshop:

To give the illusion of the type moving further away from the viewer I simply created two key rames within the composition as a whole. One at the beginning at 100%, then one at the end at 10%

Of which I dragged into my current composition. Still showing me the individual layers to manipulate, but also leaving me with the ‘comp 2’ layer which would enable me to edit the type as a whole.
