Sacramento County Sacramento county is a diverse urban area famously known as the “farm to fork” capitol of the world. It is California’s State Capitol and home to the UC Davis Medical Center - one of the best hospitals in the country. Sacramento county offers limitless opportunities to experience the arts, culture, music, outdoor recreation, world class dining, and shopping. The Sacramento area is known as the City of Trees and River City. Its metropolitan landscape is filled with trees giving it a green index of 23.6% and earning the nickname of the City of Trees. Tree planting was adopted by the region’s early settlers and a deep appreciation for this practice has continued by locals to this day. Being built around the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers Sacramento is also known as River City.
