Welcome This growth is also dependent on you and me - all of us together, working toward a common goal. We are already ahead of the game because as I have said before and will always say, our people are our strongest asset.
Having just completed the first quarter of our Financial Year, I am encouraged by the improved efficiencies achieved during the period. We are off to a strong start and in spite of challenges like the outbreak of Avian Influenza in the United States, I believe our prospects for further success with each of our brands and the Group as a whole, is highly possible. A major contributing factor to achieving this success will be our ability to maintain our ever increasing penetration of the marketplace. With bold moves such as price reductions, when internal and external conditions permit, we are certainly on the right path to positively grow our company.
positive attitude play a significant role in ensuring The CB Group is the leader in its class. A phenomenal company! I challenge everyone to keep the momentum going so we will have an even stronger finish at the end of the year.

God bless you all.
Recently, Andrew Young, a member of the Logistics Team at Newport Mills told me, “CBG has made me more focus and has made me provide for my family. I have 3 kids...and I can proudly say to them, CB is a great place to work and I love everything at Newport Mills. Andrew’s declaration proves my point. Our enthusiasm, loyalty, good values and

RUDOLPH LEE
CHAMPION GROWER 2014-2015
DESTINY As a young boy growing up in St. Ann, Rudolph Lee’s mother used to send him to get eggs from a lady in the community that had layer hens. Little did she know, it was this experience that would influence Lee’s path to becoming a farmer. In sharing his journey, you can’t help but notice the sparkle in his eye and pride. “I was fascinated with the birds and said someday I was going to raise chickens.”And the rest is history. Lee’s determination and interest has led him to not just be a Chicken Farmer, but todayhe proudly wears the title of CB Chicken’s 2014-2015 Champion Grower.
Standing tall and confident, Rudolph’s road to success has been filled with nothing but hard work: “17 years ago, I started with one house; I built it myself, no contractor or anything. I purchased 4 acres of land here, and started with 25,000 birds and built the second house 5 years later.” There are also plans for a third house, and Lee says he hopes to start work this year.
“So, my wife invited me to a CB Christmas party years ago. I was sitting at the bar and met a CB Manager at the time (Mr. Civils). We had a drink of Red Stripe and he suggested out of the blue that I farm for CB. After that, he guided me through the steps.” “And now I’m a two time Champion Grower and have come second, 3 or 4 times!”
GETTING STARTED As Rudolph tells it, “We’re a CB Family you know, my wife Vinlital has been with the company for 18 or 19 years down at Newport Mills.”

Farming Like a CHAMPION—with Modern, International Standards Rudolph runs a very modern farm, the whole property is solar, and he insists that when he adds a third house, he will add new inverters and solar panels. Lee is also very proud of receiving International Certification for his farm, and knowing he has contributed to providing Jamaicans with SAFE FOOD: “I take my farming seriously and I am ISO, HACCP and GMP certified as of 2013. The certification was a bit of work and an expense, but I was quick and was one of the first 14 farmers to be certified.” says Rudolph.
Rudolph has two full time staff on the farm, and after each flock of birds, two additional hands help to clean the chicken houses before the next. “I also work very closely with Alan Johnson (Technifical Field Officer - TFO). Johnsoncan’t be beat man, the farmers in this area, are great, is not me winning, is them, it’s a great set of farmers.” In fact, Alan won Champion TFO this year as well.

BAD DAWG supports GOOD!
Bad Dawg Sausages just wrapped up its support of Force Ripe, a riveting play that addresses the importance of protecting children from abuse. Though we’re a staple on the party scene, we always support positive initiatives, which promote good practices. While students got to experience the Bigga Betta Badda Sausages, they were also educated about a hot topic in Jamaica today: child abuse. Check out our FB page for highlights, and don’t forget to get your Bad DAwg Sausages at your favourite “Golden Wheels” vending cart, or supermarket.

Labour Day 2015: Nuh Dutty Up Arnold Road! For Labour Day 2015 we prepped 50 garbage bins to improve garbage disposal and collection in the communities around our Arnold Road plant where our Better Tasting Chicken is produced. We spray painted “Nuh Dutty Up Jamaica’’ on the bins, and even the little ones helped us support the ‘Nuh Dutty Up’ campaign by the Jamaica Environment Trust. We’ll be distributing the bins soon – so do your part in spreading the word: Nuh Dutty Up Arnold Road! Nuh Dutty Up Jamaica! Thank you to all the CBG staff and extended family that came out on Labour Day!

A Day In The Life Of…
Wilfred
LOPEZ
Live Production Supervisor
cb big ups — a day in the life of wilfred lopez
How long have you been working with the CB Group? I have been with CB for probably a little over 23 – close to 25 years. Over the years I’ve held a lot of positions – Forklift Operator for Live Haulage – Live Haulage Supervisor, Technical Service Personnel and Field Assistant to name some of them. What section of the Group are you in and what is your role? I am currently Live Production Supervisor at Imagination Farms – essentially looking after our own integrated chicken and pig operations here. When I started – I was Assistant Supervisor on the company’s farm that was then leased from Fitzroy Chin in Clarendon – that farm is now back with Mr Chin. For you, what is the best part about working at CB? Watching the company grow – when I started off with CB I remember we had some little plastic crates carrying the birds and just seeing how the operations have changed and grown - I’m amazed – just watching the company gorw and change over the years I consider myself fortunate.
16
Tell us about a typical day at work for you? From start to finish. I get up at 4 am – swing by the haulage team then head on to work at IF. I start out checking on the smallest chickens on the farm to the largest ones – then I head down to check on the pig section. Then I plan the day’s activity and begin executing my plans for the day. There may be a challenge with a particular flock of birds and making sure I have the proper settings. Sometimes way into the night you are watching a flock to make sure everything is OK and well taken care of. I do an amazing job – I love my job – it’s very time consuming but it’s amazing when you see the animals develop and the product. What gets you through a hectic work day? The achievement of my goals and targets for the day. No matter how rough it is – looking back and seeing things done gets me through – I start out as early as 4:30 in the morning and sometimes am heading home at 10 at night. Heading in on the toll road at nights – looking back at how much I have achieved it’s a good feeling. And it’s easy when you have persons motivating you like Mr Blair, Mr Barrett, and Mr Raymore and my other team members at the field department – they are always there for me – I’m fortunate to have this wonderful team here. What is your favourite CB product? Chicken of course! If I don’t have CB Chicken – I don’t eat chicken at all – they are grown with love and I can attest to that.
cb big ups — a day in the life of wilfred lopez
If you could be in another section of the group for a day, where would you go and why? I would say the processing plant – it’s just amazing the amount of product they get out of a bird on a day to day basis – it’s wondrous how far they can go with our chicken – and next in line is the Hatchery - the birds before and after they get to me – that’s what I would want to see. What has been your most embarrassing moment at work? I cannot recall - because everything – even if it’s a negative I spin it into a positive. Name your favourite chicken/ pork dish? I love Brown Stew Chicken – Love it. I normally cook it myself at home and Island Grill has a nice flavour brown stew as well – they don’t over do it.

Tips For A Healthier Summer
1. GET DIRTY -- AND STRESS LESS
5. Vacation Time!
To improve your stress level, plant a small garden, cultivate a flower box, or if space is really limited, plant a few flower pots -- indoors or out. Just putting your hands in soil is “grounding” and being mentally grounded can help relieve physical and mental stress.
Improve your heart health: take advantage of summer’s slower schedule by using your vacation time to unwind. Vacations can help lower your blood pressure, heart rate, and stress hormones such as cortisol, which contributes to a widening waist and an increased risk of heart disease.
2. Floss Daily Flossing reduces oral bacteria, which improves overall body health, and if oral bacteria is low, your body has more resources to fight bacteria elsewhere.
3. Get Outside to Exercise Pick one outdoor activity -- going on a hike, taking a nature walk, playing games such as tag with your kids, cycling, roller blading, or swimming -- to shed that cooped-up feeling of gym workouts. And remember, the family that plays together stays together.
4. Be Good to Your Eyes To protect your vision at work and at play, wear protective eyewear. When outdoors, wear sunglasses that block at least 99% of ultraviolet A and B rays. Sunglasses can help prevent cataracts, as well as wrinkles around the eyes.
tid bits — tips for a healthier summer
6. Alcohol: Go Lite Summer’s a great time to skip drinks with hard alcohol and choose a light, chilled alcoholic beverage. A sangria (table wine diluted with juice), a cold beer, or a wine spritzer are all refreshing but light. In moderation -alcohol can protect against heart disease.
7. Sleep Well Resist the urge to stay up later during long summer days. Instead pay attention to good sleep hygiene by keeping the same bedtime and wake-up schedule and not drinking alcohol within three hours of bedtime. Get 6-8 hours every night!
