Welcome As we reflect on the completion of another financial year, let us acknowledge the strong support of the Jamaican consumers for all our brands – Chicken, Pork, Eggs and Feed. The year which we have just closed was a very successful one for our Group, and we remain both grateful for this continued support and humble in our success. We are not standing still in our accomplishments; we continue to offer new and innovative products to consumers as we respond to their demands and have a positive report on agronomy activities at Imagination farms. Our test crops of West Indies Sea Island cotton and other important crops are being assessed as we seek to diversify and increase our contribution to the development of the Jamaican agricultural sector. A special commendation to our staff who all participated in our LEAP session activities, contributing ideas and suggestions to culminate in the goals established to propel us into the future. As we proceed in the new budget year, let us focus on maintaining the highest level of efficiencies throughout the CB Group, while maintaining the high standards we have established. We look forward to your participation in two important upcoming events, our Give Love, Give Blood drive and our annual Thanksgiving Service.

A. Eaton Barrett

BADDEST Week ever! “The Bigga, Betta, BADDA Sausage had its best event sales week, and day EVER this Easter, congratulations to the Bad Dawg Team for all the hard work during the Easter Holiday and Carnival Season!” Our Record day was on Easter Monday, with huge sales of Bad Dawgs at Devon House, and at the family affair ‘Funfest’ held at Hope Gardens. ‘Carnival Week’ was the record week for us as well, with Soca fans fueling up on the BADDA Sausage at their favourite events!

At I Love Soca, Block “O”, Bacchanal @ Mas Camp, Heineken Rio – and on Waterloo Road on Carnival Sunday, our team shattered our oneweek sales records. Almost 3,500 Bad Dawgs were sold just at events in this busy week! This would have been an achievement on its own, but counting our regularly operated CBG-owned carts, we served up thousands more Bad Dawgs to smiling faces and happy tummies! A Big shoutout to our Bad Dawg Team Players that operate our carts: • • • • • • •

O’Carlos Wright Randale Hawthorne Sashell Matthews Suwayne Matthews Taniffe Phillips Samantha Forbes Keisha King And a special thank you to Asahel Huie and Jason Tracey who keep the Bad Dawg operations running smoothly day in day out!

Meet Our Champion Farmer

Patricia Depass “Being a farmer means I call my own shots…. I’m happy to work with my Creator, closer to the earth. People need to eat, and farming is the primary production of any country”. A fighter with a heart of gold, Patricia has been dealt some hard knocks but always shines with warmth and openness. She began years ago working alongside her father selling eggs out of a Volkswagon, in Downtown Kingston, and today Patricia operates out of 3 shops – cherishing her success around the brand in 30 days — nutramix

and independence. Patricia credits switching to Nutramix in 1999, with improving her farm’s operations - “There is balanced feed, and the service is very good and I don’t wish to change at all”. In 2016, Patricia is looking to begin upgrades to her farm in St. Catherine, including paving the long driveway that leads deep into the chicken and pig houses, upgrading wood, mesh and zinc facilities to concrete and building a room where eggs can be processed. She also plans to purchase a 40ft container where her Nutramix feed can be stored properly.

Patricia is also working on innovative ways to sell her products, including bundling her eggs with products like bacon with the eggs in holiday seasons for reduced prices to boost sales. The Nutramix family supports Champion Farmers big and small; we congratulate Patricia on her hard work and look forward to farming together so we can #GrowJamaica

Chippenham Egg Drop Soup Eggs in soup? This is an easy Chinese classic that many Jamaicans are a little wary to try, but trust us, once you’ve had it, you’ll be hooked. Ingredients: • • • • • •

5 cups chicken broth, ¾ teaspoon Asian sesame oil 1/8 teaspoon ginger, ground 3 Chippenham Eggs, well beaten Salt ¼ cup escallion, thinly sliced

Method: 1. Bring 4 cups of chicken broth to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat (reserve one cup). Stir in the ginger, sesame oil, and escallion, and bring to a rolling boil. 2. Stir the mixture until the broth is quickly swirling around the saucepan. Slowly and carefully pour in the eggs, continuing to stir the broth with your other hand. The eggs should cook upon contact with the broth and create ribbons. Taste and add salt, if necessary. 3. Ladle into individual bowls and top with a little chopped escallion. 4. Enjoy! Tips: For a twist, you can add small chunks of boiled chicken breast (already fully cooked), or mushrooms.

1. Avoid trying to raise a “sunken ship.” Know when to cut your losses, instead of doubling down on a failed course of action. 2. Put pen to paper – literally. A handwritten letter goes a long way among colleagues and clients. 3. Learn When to Say “No” - Don’t be over zealous in helping out colleagues with their work. When you start accepting work outside your job scope, people will eventually assume that they were part of your responsibilities.

don’t be an

April Fool: Tips to Simplify Your (Work) Life

Life is complex. So, clear your work area and take a little time to consider how you can simplify work life

4. Accepting Imperfection Doesn’t Mean Rejecting Perfection Every job comes with its own expectation on how thorough it has to be done. If you’re always aiming for perfection in everything you do, you’re going to be burdened by your overwhelmingly increasing stress in the long-run. Do your best, and stop when the task is complete. 5. Delegate Work - It’s all too easy to fall into the trap of doing everything by yourself. Why? It seems logical to trust yourself more than you trust others when it comes to your work. But if we are to really improve our productivity level and enjoy what we do, we have to entrust certain tasks to others. 6. Learn to prioritize. - Start each morning with an idea of your top three priorities, and then accomplish those first. Ask your boss, “What are the top priorities?” Then let them know that you will commit to doing them to the best of your ability, and that might mean that other things would need to wait or be reassigned. 7. Stay in your own lane - Your business are those things you can directly influence. The things you can’t control are generally other people’s business. Your co-worker running late for a meeting or your boss is working with someone who rubs you the wrong way—these things are other people’s business, so stressing about them is a waste of your energy. 8. Organize your workspace - Studies show that your work environment has a big effect on both your state of mind and productivity. If you don’t use it regularly and it doesn’t help you do your job more effectively, put it away. Keep a few personal items to feel comfortable, but think Zen and uncluttered!
