Welcome message

Don’t Let The Past Keep You From The Present did not take the necessary cor rective actions to improve his weakness.

by Garth Channer Chief Financial Officer

An actor had been out of work for 15 years because he always forgot his lines. Then one day he got a phone call from a director who wanted him for a part in a play. All he had to say was “Hark! I hear the cannon roar! After much worry the actor decided to take the role. Opening night arrived, and while he waited in the wings, the actor muttered to himself “Hark! I hear the cannon roar! Hark! I hear the cannon roar! The time for the entrance finally came and as the actor made his appearance, he heard a loud booooom! He turned around and said,“what the hell was that?” Don’t be afraid to forget your lines and don’t be afraid to make mistakes. We must learn from them and try never to repeat them. Be positive. yourself and your capacity to change, never listen to put-downs or take them personally. Some events of the past can make it hard to live in the present. Troubling memories can make it hard to sleep or get through the day. But there will come a point at which you must let go of the past or it will define your future. Don’t be like the actor, who after 15 years made the same error again because he

So as we go through life as individuals or as a company we will face challenges and we will have happy times. How we manage these situations and the decisions we make will determine the kind of memories we have and also influence our future. It is therefore up to us to do the best we can today, to accomplish all we can today, to dream big today so that tomorrow we can all reflect and be satisfied that we have maximized our potentials as an individual, as a company and as a country. I want to take this opportunity to welcome you all to the June’s edition of our monthly magazine – Chat bout.

God Bless,

CB Food Village powers up

The Village, hosted by CB Foods was the spotlight at the recent staging of the Jamaica Beer Festival. Our guests had a place to unwind, grab a bite, and charge up for the performances on stage from Ding Dong Ravers, Nesbeth, Elephant Man, Busy Signal, and more. Our mouth-watering food offerings were a hit, and we had beer infused recipes ranging from Red Stripe Pan Chicken, to succulent Guinness BBQ Country Style Ribs and Bad Dawg Sausages with a Heineken BBQ Sauce. Missed it? Keep an eye and ear out for The Village’s next outing!

The Golden Wheels’ New Spot at Devon House In just over four years, Bad Dawg Sausages has proven that it’s the Top Dawg! From inception in 2012 as cart vending program to boost entrepreneurship, we’ve exploded into a movement. Now, the “Golden Wheels” serving up the Bigga Betta BADDA sausage is a must on the street food and party scene. And guess what? Something even Bigga, Betta and Badda has happened! Now, it’s even easier to ‘get your fix’ of Bad Dawg with a new permanent home at Devon House! By request of our fans and Devon House, we now occupy a kiosk at the heritage site, right by the entrance! With this new flagship location, we've shifted gears and now offer a 7 day a week operation! Grab a juicy Bad Dawg from the kiosk on Mondays - Saturdays from 12pm - 9-pm and 1pm-10m on Sundays. Don't forget to follow @BadDawgSausages on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for updates and locations our carts. it’s a wrap for

NutraDays!

The last few months have been quite eventful for Nutramix with our customer stops across the island. In April, we continued our NutraDays customer appreciation tours at Junction Farm Store (Southern Region) on the 12th, and Source One Trading (Western Region) on the 19th. In May, we headed to Berris Brown (Northern Region) on the 3rd, E&G Feed City (Central Region) on the 10th, and Eastport Farm and Garden (Eastern Region) on the 17th. In true CB fashion, we went in with music and vibes and had an outside broadcast on May 10th with FAME. Big up Duffy, DJ Inferno & Janice Young! As promised, we gave away bags of Nutramix feed, baby chicks and other fun Nutramix gear. Also big up to the one and only Bad Dawg which was available at all NutraDays stops! We’re proud to award E&G Feed City with the overall Grand Champion title for the second year in a row! Best New Customer was awarded to Farm Plus and Most Improved Customer, Tropical Feeds Farm Supplies.

A huge thank you to all who came out and participated! It’s a wrap for NutraDays 2016! around the brand in 30 days — nutramix

A Day At The Egg Farm

The HRD, Sales, & Marketing Teams paid a surprise visit to the Egg Farm to celebrate the farm cracking CBG’s egg production records this year.

SMASHING

The team at the Egg Farm has made us so proud, working hard to blow away previous records, and making sure we have enough of our premium quality eggs to continue our success in the marketplace.

Records!

Sharing appreciation on behalf of the entire Group – the visiting CBG teammates joined Egg Farm staff for dominoes, Bad Dawgs, drinks, some wicked lunch courtesy of Gairy, and enjoyed wicked musical stylins’ by the Egg Farm’s resident DJ. We’re all really happy this team had a chance to let their hair down and just relax. It was a break well deserved!

Reading

heart from the

our community — read across jamaica day

For Read Across Jamaica Day 2016 the CBG Family was on deck to make a difference in three schools. CBG volunteers read to Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders at Jessie Ripoll Primary, Saint Hugh’s Preparatory and Immaculate Prep. We were especially happy to participate at Jessie Ripoll, which is part of our Arnold Road community family. Big Up to Michelle and Roxanne from Arnold Road who read to the kids at Jessie Ripoll – the they loved it and didn’t want them to leave! Alicia Bogues and Andrew Raymore took on story time at Immaculate Prep and over at St. Hugh’s, Aunty Karen, Aunty Shannon and Aunty Rosie read to the little ones and left BIG smiles on their little faces. We’ll be working to make activities like this more frequent, so keep your ears to the ground for updates soon!

Labour with love for West Indies Basic

In 2015 our Labour Day project was partnering with the “Nuh Dutty up Jamaica” campaign to paint and supply communities surrounding Arnold Road with garbage bins to keep Jamaica clean.

Over 60 of our great CBG Family from all over came out and we worked together on: Renovating the kitchen and play areas, creating a vegetable garden, meshing of cellars and painting rubbish bins.

We stayed close to ‘home’ and worked with the West Indies Basic School on Camp Road, home to 73 students, many of which will move on to surrounding primary schools such as Jessie Ripoll, Clan Carthy, Alpha and Excelsior.

“Increased Community Outreach” was a big deal –and a popular dream in our LEAP sessions, and we’re just getting started on doing more in our communities, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for updates from the FOCUS group created to look on how we, as a Group, will approach this in the future, not just for Labour Day, but all year round.

We stuck to the national theme “FOR HEALTH’S SAKE… KEEP IT CLEAN” and with May being child’s month, it was a perfect alignment.

CBG shares Love & Knowledge with Junior Achievement

CB Group was back at Convent of Mercy Alpha Academy in May with Junior Achievement Jamaica giving back for education, and this time we had some new faces putting on their teachers hats. A big thank you to: Craig Plunkett, Latoya Thompson, Caneal Saunders, Kacian Nelson, Veron Miller, Opal Wellington, Elgin Fowler, O’Rane Gray, Donia Nembhard, Tina Hamilton, Asahel Huie, Adrienne Smith, and Angelia White- Mckenzie

With seven 45-minute sessions, the JA Career Success program is jampacked with student friendly materials and covers topics such as the 4Cs: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. The young ladies were also introduced to resume development and writing, cover letters, interviews and the importance of managing a positive personal brand, especially through social media.

Our team members taught over two hundred and thirty Grade 10 students the JA Career Success program, which recognises that all too often students graduate and dive into the working world with little or no preparation.

June marks the beginning of the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June 1 to November 30. Officials have predicted this hurricane season will most likely be ‘near‑normal’. Even though this might seem to be good news, we want our team members to make the necessary preparations both at work and home. Don’t be complacent! Here are a few tips to help prepare for the hurricane season: • Make sure hurricane kits are stocked with batteries, a battery-operated radio, flashlights, a can opener, a first aid kit, and other emergency supplies. • Ensure windows and doors can be safely secured using hurricane shutters. If you don’t have hurricane shutters, close and board up all windows and doors with plywood. • Turn off propane tanks and unplug small appliances. • Write down important telephone numbers (in case your cell phone runs out of power), and/or get a power-bank. • Place important documents (ID, TRN card, passport, birth certificate) in a water-proof bag or plastic container. • Evacuate if advised by authorities. Be careful to avoid flooded roads! “PREPAREDNESS TODAY CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE TOMORROW” tid bits — hurricane advisory
