MILKY Way
Great Summer Recipes!
Did you know that World Milk Day was June 1st? Since the first World Milk Day was held in 2001, many countries around the world have participated in the celebrations and Jamaica didn’t miss out on the action this year. World Milk Day provides an opportunity to focus attention on milk and highlight the importance of the industry. The Drink Real Milk team was happy to partner with the Dairy Industry Board to commemorate the day, and encourage more Jamaicans to… Drink Real Milk. We’ve whipped up some extra special Milky Recipes to celebrate. Try a sweet Mango Panna Cotta, a rich Roasted Red Pepper Soup, creamy Sausage Zitti Pasta, and some great milk cocktails to cool off the summer heat. Log onto DrinkRealMilk.com to get full recipes, or check out @DrinkRealMilk on Instagram or Facebook to see some quick, fun and easy to follow how-to videos!

LEADING IN CUSTOMER SERVICE We know Team CBG works hard, and more often than not, we do so without want or need for any special recognition. So it’s always nice when we hear that people can see what we do every day. So we’re excited that The Pork Store Team’s extremely hard work and excellent service has been seen, felt and recognised in a recent feature in the Jamaica Observer. A thrilled customer wrote in to the paper and paid respect to the amazing customer received from our resident pork experts. Check it out below and big them up when you see them!
“Dear Editor, There are occasions in music and athletics when everybody knows we are second to none. But when it comes to customer service we don’t always excel and put on an exemplary show. Nearly a year ago, I visited The Pork Store and was blown away by the customer service I received from a lady there. I took to their Facebook page and thanked them for reminding me that we Jamaicans can be so great at what we do. At the time, I had hoped it was not a one-off thing. I don’t know the principals of The Pork

Store and I don’t care who they are save to say I felt they should keep up the great work in recruiting, training or both. That was the feeling I had then. Fast forward to Saturday April 2, 2016; this morning we had another experience that affirmed that the previous experience was not a one-shot. Maybe treating the customer right is just what they do. We arrived before opening hours. A gentleman who was about to clean the store prior to opening, invited us to come inside out of the direct rays of the sun and be more comfortable while he went about cleaning.
Apart from being considerate and polite, I was blown away by his attention to detail; now I know why the place looks so pristine. He cleaned and shined the display cabinets until the place was as clean as a new-born’s rap sheet. This gentleman used discretion; he treated the customer how he would have wanted to be treated. On two different occasions, a year apart, we experienced two different customer service skills that rivaled or exceeded high end so-called first world practices. The store layout and quality of the meats only add to my feeling that yes, right here at home in Jamaica, we can have the best customer service bar none.”

Meet Our Champion Farmer
“I’m looking at the bigger picture”
Dan Kelly A name influences the character of what it describes; it holds great power and gives value. It’s therefore no surprise that Goodwill Farms truly represents its owner and his great story. Meet Dan Kelly; a vivacious man, who wears an enduring smile. Always willing to lend a hand to better his country and improve his community, Dan is of the firm belief that agriculture is an important way to lead this cause. Goodwill Farms is so much more than a sheep farm, it’s a nucleus for sustainable livestock farming and giving back to our country and her people. around the brand in 30 days — nutramix
Dan’s eyes light up; it’s impossible to not embrace his passion when he speaks about agriculture.
Why import when we can produce? My passion for what I do far surpasses my own economical benefit. I want to be a catalyst for others to get involved in the industry. I’m looking at the bigger picture
Dan emphasizes that Jamaica spends far too much on the importation of meats each year, lamb included. With a struggling economy, many people are out of work, yet there is so much idle land. Through Goodwill Farms, Kelly is determined to strengthen Jamaica’s livestock production and show how we can get our youth involved, and produce top quality meats. Goodwill Farms wants to change the perception of agriculture. It’s the way of the future, it’s hip and it’s even sexy. We salu te you D an! L e t ’s #GrowJamaica #FarmTogether 10

FOCUS: More Affordable Access To Financing For Team CBG The Project: With Jamaica’s strict banking laws, many of our employees utilize microfinance companies rather than traditional commercial banks for loans, which is ridiculously more expensive. During LEAP sessions, CBG team members pin pointed this challenge. So, we launched a FOCUS project aimed at negotiating with financial institutions on behalf of the CBG Family, to make loans more affordable.
The RESULTS: After negotiating with a number of institutions, we’ve chosen the two that we believe truly offer the best overall options: Alliance Financial Limited Car loans – max of $3m, up to 6 years, 10% on reducing balance, no additional fees Personal loans – max of $500k, up to 12 months, 8% on reducing balance, no additional fees National Commercial Bank Personal loans – max of $5M, up to 5 years, 17% on reducing balance, processing fee up to $2.5% Get in touch with the HRD team with any questions you may have or for further details. Please be aware, that going forward, we will only process salary deductions for NEW MICROFINANCE LOANS from these two financial institutions.

“Emancipendence” & Denbigh
The important “Emancipendence” week is coming up, where we’ll celebrate our two greatest milestones as a country, Emancipation Day and Independence Day. Many of us use these holidays at a time to spend with family, let our hair down, and get some much needed rest. But, this year, please take the time to remember the importance of these days, and those that worked and fought so hard for us to be a free, independent and self governed people. Walk good and stay safe across the holidays. Don’t Forget: Emancipation Day – August 1 Independence Day – August 6 Denbigh – July 30th – Emancipation Day, August 1 The Nutramix team will be back at Denbigh again, bigger than ever. Stay tuned and don’t miss out!

Chili Bad Dawgs Ingredients:
Method:
• 4 Bad Dawg Sausages
1. Using a pot, combine the ground beef and onions. Cook it over medium heat until meat is browned, stirring the meat to break it up as it cooks. Stir in the taco seasoning, sugar, salt, and stir well. Cover pot and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the tomatoes and beans, and simmer for another 20 to 30 minutes.
• 3 pounds of ground beef • 3 onions, chopped • 2 sachet taco seasoning • 1 tablespoon sugar • 1 teaspoon salt • 2 (28-ounce) cans whole tomatoes, chopped • 3 (16-ounce) cans kidney beans • 4 national hot dog buns • 1 cup grated cheddar
2. Preheat the grill. Gently slice the Bad Dawgs lengthwise, making sure not to cut all the way through. 3. Grill butterflied Bad Dawgs until done, approximately 5 minutes. 4. Place the buns on the grill to warm them. Place Bad Dawgs in the bun and place on serving plate with split side facing up. 5. Slowly spoon chili over and top the bad dawg with cheese.

working
fitness into your work week
Life is busy, we all know that, but with the proper goals and mindset, fitness and exercise can be a part of your work-week! 1. Make specific time for fitness – choose a time that suits your schedule. Are you an early bird or night owl? Give yourself at least 20 minutes per day for exercise. 2. Set fitness goals – if you want to lose a certain amount of weight within a specific time frame, you will more than likely have to exercise consistently on a daily basis to meet your goal. 3. Choose a fitness activity that you enjoy – you’ll be more likely to work it into your routine if you truly enjoy it!
tid bits — working fitness into your work week
4. Perform short, less intense exercises in the beginning – if you’re just getting started, try walking up and down flights of stairs rather than taking elevators; start walking at a brisk pace rather than jogging until you work your way up. 5. Prepare your fitness gear in advance – you’re more likely to do your workout if you have a packed bag with your exercise clothes and sneakers! It’s tough at first, but you’ll be grateful that you started. Exercise and fitness not only fight off illnesses and health conditions, but can help with stress, calming the body, gaining confidence and overall leaves you feeling happier! Let’s not forget, it’s already July, and we all want our summer bodies! 25
