jamaica’s recent olympic reign
Welcome
CB
Family, the first quarter of our new financial year is already behind us and we are fast approaching our mid-year point. Before we know it, we would have completed another financial year. So, how do we ensure we remain on track?
At our LEAP sessions, we spoke about achieving great things for our company and for Jamaica. We have set 90 days plans, 3-year plans and of course our landing in 2025. Having set these well thought out goals and plans, how do we ensure we achieve them? “We can either be changed or be the change”. To “be the change” here are some steps we can follow to ensure we land where we aim: 1. Begin living today as we would like to be in the future. If we have clearly in mind the person, the company, that we would like to become, then, in order to become that future person or company, we must practice every day to act and be that future person or company. 2. Reflecting on pictures (images) of our future can help drive our subconscious mind to become what we see. Consider putting up pictures of you in the type of surroundings and doing the activities you would like to do in the future. Put these pictures in places that you visit frequently like on your fridge door, in your wallet, in you diary, on your
welcome
desk or some other suitable place. 3. We become like the people we surround ourselves with. So, think about the people we attract to our company and the people we do business with; our fellow employees, our suppliers, customers, business partners and other stakeholders. We want to be associated with people of the highest integrity, honesty and trustworthiness - positive people who are succeeding and who want us to succeed. 4. Benchmark against the best. Is there someone you know that has the ability to see in you things that you cannot now see for yourself? Maybe they see in you a future successful business person, a great scientist or a future leader. Maybe such a person has already accomplished
what you are aiming to become. Then, you might want to consider making such a person a coach or a mentor. Often, in life’s journey, we need someone to guide us so that we do not veer from the path to achieving our full potential. 5. Let’s constantly review where we are on our journey. A captain of a ship constantly checks his compass to assure himself that he is on track to arrive at his destination safely and on time. We should be prepared to constantly review our progress against our vision, goals and plans if we are to succeed as we change from who we are now to who we are becoming. By the time you read this message, Jamaica would have celebrated fiftyfour years of being an independent nation. Jamaicans have achieved much in these fifty-four years, but there are greater achievements on the horizon if as individuals, as a company and as a nation we take charge of our future and lead the change in becoming all we can be.

CB kicks off
PAN 2016!
READY TO LIGHT UP!
Team CB kicked off PAN 2016 in style and we’ve got some exciting changes to talk about. CB mingled with media, sponsors and friends, had fun giveaways, and some wicked savoury PAN chicken by past champions Ruddy and Mark. We also raffled a PAN jampacked with Goodies from our sponsors and shared heartwarming stories from PAN Men and Women that have gone on to do BIG things for themselves and their families after competing in PAN. The Launch was held at the Half Way Tree Transport Centre, which we’re pumped to announce is the NEW location for the 2016 PAN Finals! The Final is going to be BIGGER than ever: Smack in the heart of the Capital, the Transport Centre accommodates even more Patrons, but is fully covered, giving some much needed cool shade from the harsh sun for early patrons, it also has added security, and easier transport links for our annual guests. BUT FIRST – we head to the Bread Basket in St. Elizabeth for Regional 1 in August, followed by Portland for Regional 2 in September. We’re excited to spread the fun and the economic impact to new people and parishes year – we hope you can join us! Check out our schedule for 2016! We’ll see you at Regional 1 -August 27!

A Day In The Life Of…
Ralph McDonald Distribution Manager, CB Foods
cb big ups — a day in the life of… ralph mcdonald

1. How long have you worked with the CB Group? 9 years. 2. So far, what’s the best part about working here? The best part about CB is the family spirit and the latitude you are allowed to develop and growth to fulfil your full potential. 3. Describe what a typical work day is like for you. A typical day starts at 4:00 a.m. each morning from home with prayer and then I review the various reports from all the distribution locations. I would then be getting phone calls from about 6:00 a.m. and this continues pretty much throughout day; until it tapers off at about 11:00 p.m. (However the nature of distribution which has so many variables I am on call 24hrs per day). After getting to the office which can be at any one the locations I am in charge of, I would liaison with each shipping coordinator to get a briefing on activities and offer support to resolve issues that may arise. I have a great team and they make my job easy at the end of the day. I just can’t have a productive day without them. 4. What gets you through a hectic work day? What gets me through a hectic day is my faith in God which gives me the believe that every problem as a solution; there is no problem that cannot be fixed; and secondly my support staff; my T.E.A.M, can’t stress it enough. Despite our differences at times we always pull together. 5. Which product is your favourite at CB? My favourite CB product is Chicken. 6. If you could switch departments for a day, where would you go and why? If I could switch department for a day.....Hmm, this is a difficult one because I have so much passion for what I do now; but I would think Customer service because I get some much pleasure knowing our customers are satisfied at the end of the day. 7. Any embarrassing moments at work? My Most embarrassing moment for me is on my first week on the Job as a production supervisor in charge of the parts line (over by England) at Arnold, walking down the passage toward shipping area I fell flat on my bottom and someone came up behind and said “Welcome to CB Mr. Mac” and all who were present including myself broke out in laughter. 8. Any favourite chicken, pork or egg dishes? My favourite chicken dish is Chicken Chow Mein. cb big ups — a day in the life of… ralph mcdonald

Jamaica’s
Recent Olympic
Reign Jamaicans first stamped their undeniable track and field dominance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The Team returned home with 6 golds, 3 silvers and 2 bronze. But we didn’t just dominate the track, but we lit up the medal tables. ‘Jamaica finished 13th overall when ranked by quality of medals and 20th when ranked by total medals, which is quite an achievement for a small island that sent less than 60 competitors to the games.’
Usain Bolt smashed the world record to clock 9.69 becoming the first man to run under 9.70. After this historic run, our ladies came out to impress when Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce dominated the field to clock 10.78 seconds, and Sheron Simpson and Keron Stewart clocked 10.98 seconds to share the silver medal, completing the Jamaican clean sweep. No bronze medal was awarded. In 2012, our champs took London by storm, doing even better than Beijing: A
