Welcome It’s a new year and hopefully, like me you are all looking forward to another good year for the CB family. There are a number of great things on the horizon and we wait with bated breath to see how they unfold. However do not expect it to be easy, it never is. It is going to take a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve our goals for the next three years. But I truly believe we can achieve them with your continued dedication and hard work. At the forefront of it all is our “Live Better” campaign where we transition from being just about Safe Foods to literally living better, doing and being better for our families, customers, farmers and building a better Jamaica. Our various divisions have put forward their plans and we now move to the implementation stage with great expectations. Of course there will be obstacles, and some of us will think life is unfair, “but expecting life to be fair because you are, is like expecting a bull not to charge because you’re a vegetarian”. So you pick yourself up, rethink your approach to the problem at hand and start over. We have great expectations of continued success for the CB family and none of this happens without you. With this in mind I wish you all the best for the coming year and beyond. Audley Raymore

welcome

O

n February 21st, CB Group did something truly remarkable and unprecedented in its history. At the recently renovated grounds at the Group Office, officially dubbed ‘The Courtyard’, CB Foods launched its Live Better movement. There was no media or journalists. There was no big camera crew. There were no partners, no sponsors. Instead, there was you – some of our CBG family. Those present were some who have direct interaction with our customers such as sales support. We will all be ambassadors for Live Better. Through each CBG staff member, we will spread its message. Unfortunately, not everyone was able to be included, but People & Culture will be sensitizing each facility individually – sharing with you about Live Better, so look out.

What is

At LEAP, you shared your dreams and visions and we heard your voices. Whether it was to get into shape, have more time to spend with your family, be able to have more training, better communication, having the Group expand its food products or have more community outreach, the united message was that you all wanted to live better. And who doesn’t? People are at the core of our Group, so we made sure that the values of our people and the values of the CB Group were at the heart of Live Better. For the first time, CB Foods now has its own ‘campaign’, though it’s not quite your typical campaign. It’s not just for CB Chicken, it’s not just for Copperwood Pork, it’s not limited to Caribbean Passion or Bad Dawg or our egg brands. No, Live Better is communicating to the public who CB Foods is, and is a direct reflection of who we are as CB Group. around the brand in 30 days — live better

You’ll see a shift from CB Chicken’s Safe Food campaign that served us well. We will always make safe and quality foods. Now, we will make more healthy foods, and more convenient foods. We will continue to support our local farmers, encourage entrepreneurship and support education. We will be more eco‑friendly, protecting the environment for all Jamaicans. Over the next 6-8 months, look out for new and exciting things across our Group. Not just with CB Foods, but with Living Better for you – professionally, and personally. You will see print ads and billboards, and you’ll see beautiful new ads and messages that reflect our values. For the next 3-4 years, Live Better will replace Safe Food, but even then, when the imagery and advertisements change in the future, the values behind Live Better, will always remain.

CBG initiates safety session for Homestead Primary School students With 2017 reflecting a spike in crime, especially against young females, members of the community surrounding Homestead Primary have been worried and afraid. Word of young students being fearful reached the ears of a couple of CB Group staff who took quick initiative to help. It was organized for Superintendent Kevin Francis to make a special visit to the school in February, and the day’s activities were coordinated through its Guidance Counsellor. Students were enthusiastic about the lectures which covered a wide range of safety protocols, hypothetical scenarios and appropriate responses. DSP Francis commented that the children “participated at unprecedented levels, it is evident that they are filled with potential and once nurtured, guided and cared for, they will add value to the Jamaican Society.” Thank you to our CBG staff who made this a possibility. The students ended the day feeling motivated and reassured.

Fun Day @

Cloggy’s

on the Beach

Saturday, February 11th was indeed a fun day at Cloggy's on the Beach in Black River, St Elizabeth. Some folks from the Nutramix sales and livestock teams, customer care and Marketing linked up to spend some quality time together enjoying a mini boat safari, licking some six and digging into some authentic Black River cuisine. CB Group is all about building team comraderie across all departments, across all companies, both during and outside of work hours. We can all agree that work is that much better when we're working with people we really like and get along with well! So why not make some plans and make the time to get together with other CBG family to do something fun and interactive. You get to learn lots about the people you work with! Do you have any photos from your CBG link-ups? Feel free to share!

PAN

2016 Volunteers go to

Hellshire On Friday January 27th our dedicated PAN volunteers met up at Hellshire to simply relax, have fun and indulge in some good ol’ Hellshire fish and festival. A big thank you to each and every volunteer who chooses to spend their weekend working hard at the Regionals and/or Grand Final. Because of you, PAN 2016 was a true success. The result proved that good teamwork makes the dream work! Few persons were unable to make the link-up, but we haven’t forgotten them. Volunteers were also surprised with gifted movie tickets. Congrats to PAN 2016’s MVP – Lynford Allen!
