LAYOUT The foldings are used to complement the galleries without taking away the significance from the pictures themselves. The grid and the pagesizes are set but can be or ignored to force the reader to unfold or to display the pictures and text in a more interesting way. The design is simple and reduced. Font combinations and a accent color make interesting variations in the layout possible.
INTERACTION The magazine is a contiuous leporello making it possible to view galleries in a new and exciting way. It is even possible to see the whole gallery at once. The leporello uses both sides to tell stories.
CONTENT The issues topic is always based on storytelling and the perception of human experience. The content is always depending on the issue‘s topic that is revolving around storytelling. It is discussing an important aspect of storytelling and is always trying to find answers on the question how we as humans tell stories, how they are used and how they evolve our lifes. This is done by curating interesting galleries of advanced photography telling new stories or showing them in a new light.
ST YLEGUIDE
FORMAT
225 mm
110 mm
The magazine is a leporello, meaning the whole magazine is printed on one long 290mm high paper. It‘s folded either after 225mm or 110mm.
The layout colors are reduced to anthracite, grey, white and one accent color, that changes for each issue depending on the issue‘s topic. This should always be a toned down color supporting the content without being too present. The accent color is used for the font and graphic of the instructions, for the page description font, as backgroundcolor for the Word On the Street column picture and if fitting for breathing pages.

USE OF GRID & FONTS The headline for galleries and stories can vary in fontsize, alignment or orientation, always depending on the content. The page numbers are always part of the title and not appearing on other pages to avoid disturbing the f low of a gallery.
For galleries, stories and interviews the columns and the grid are sometimes ignored. Depending on content, pictures, length of the gallery or importance of pictures the use of the grid can vary.
Only for the set pages in the magazine, e.g. the index, editorial, recommandation and impressum, the grid is used strictly. These are the pages that also use the vertical page description in the accent color.
USE OF GRID & PICTURES
In general photography in galleries is featured either with some white space (at least 10mm frames) or page filling, but as large as possible. Depending on the content the placing of the pictures is breaking the grid. The editorial and recommandations page as the pages that are strictly set in the three columns use the pictures in this small format, but still allow the pictures to break the grid.
