Dear Readers, TODAY marks the end of another year for the Hillcrest Fever, and as the festivities kick off for this season, let us reflect on moments that touched our lives and the community this past year. 2014 has been marked by persistent challenges in our economy with price inflations (food, electricity, fuel, etc.). MAKHOSANDILE ZULU URING the inaugural sitting of the KwaDukuza council last Wednesday, Ricardo Mthembu was re-elected as mayor of the municipality with Dolly Govender reelected as his deputy. Phumlile Zulu was appointed as the new speaker and Dumisane Ndimande was reelected as chief whip. During his acceptance speech, Mthembu highlighted some of the projects which the municipality would embark on, and these include the commencement and completion of housing projects in areas such as Aldenville, Sihle Phakathi, Charlotdale, Etete, Driefontein, Ntshawini, Chris Hani, Lloyd and the Steve Biko area. He undertook to settle the long-standing issue of the construction of a taxi rank in Ballito by ensuring that the expropriation of the land earmarked for this project formally gets underway. Groutville residents will be pleased to learn that within 18 months a new clinic is to be constructed in the area and that the municipality will engage with the MEC of Arts and Culture with regards to building a library as well, according to the mayor. Mthembu said 100 individuals are to be recruited and enrolled at the Chief Albert Luthuli Skills Development Centre before the end of the year. “We will be launching the new King Shaka Mixed Use Development in the golf course area. This project will shape and change the future

of KwaDukuza CBD and contribute to the urban renewal of the area,” Mthembu said These are some of the planned programmes that Mthembu spoke about during his speech, read more on our Facebook page. The KwaDukuza council elected the following members to serve on the executive committee (EXCO): Cllr NR Mthembu, Cllr Dolly Govender, Cllr NR Khumalo, Cllr JA Vallan, Cllr JS Phahla, Cllr TV Ntuli, Cllr Ms. Sing, Cllr MW Hubner, and Cllr JLT Sibiya. Mandeni mayor Siphesihle Zulu, who was re-elected for a second term last Thursday, 18 August, said stabilising, addressing social challenges and restoring investor confidence in the Isithebe area is one of the priorities the newly elected council would deliver on in the first 100 days in office. Earlier this year, the industrial area was rocked by violent protests which resulted in several factories being set alight and shutdown. Zulu said the Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies will be in Isithebe in the coming weeks to launch the rebuilding of the factories that were damaged during the protests. Zulu commended the outgoing council for managing to receive clean audit opinions for two consecutive financial years and pledged that the newly inaugurated council would learn from this and adhere to financial management policies. Phindile Sishi was re-elected as the Mandeni deputy with Makhosazana Zungu retaining her position as speaker. Zibuyisile Khuzwayo Dlamini – who was sworn in as mayor of Maphumulo - and Zama Ncalane – who was inaugurated as deputy mayor – represent the ANC on the EXCO. The IFP is represented by Ntandoyenkosi Nxumalo. The IFP had been opposed to the EXCO being constituted by three individuals as this meant only one councillor would represent the organisation. Simphiwe Shange was appointed speaker of the Maphumulo council. Ndwedwe Municipality will be led by V.B. Chili with Erster Blose as his deputy. Khonza Ngidi was appointed speaker of that council.

HREE family members, including an eight-year-old, were found dead on Friday, 19 August in the Mzunga area. The slain family members, Thandokwakhe Bhengu (35), Lindelani Bhengu (16) and Lungisani Bhengu (8), were found by the Ndwedwe SAPS at around 10pm after the police received a report about the killing. KZN SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane said Thandokwakhe, the mother of the other two victims, and Lin-

The motive for this gruesome tragedy is still unknown,” Zwane said. He said the police are appealing to the members of the community to come forward with any information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. “We are appealing to anyone who might have information on suspects to contact the local police or our Crime Stop number on 08600 10111,” Zwane said.
SCHOOL principal and treasurer of the Ndwedwe District Taxi Association Nhlanhla Mhlongo (62) was killed after being shot last Wednesday, 17 August at the Engonyameni reserve in Ndwedwe. This is according to KZN SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane. He said the incident occurred at around 1pm when two unknown male suspects allegedly accosted and shot Mhlongo near a school in the area. “The motive for the killing is unknown. Bhekithemba police are investigating a case of murder and no arrest has been made at this stage,” Zwane said. KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety, and Liaison Mxolisi Kaunda condemned Mhlongo’s murder. Kaunda said according to preliminary reports Mhlongo was travelling

The MEC said the murder threatens to undermine the strides that have been made to bring about peace and stability in the taxi industry in KZN. Kaunda said out of 246 taxi associations operating within the province
a few have been identified and noted for having tensions. “We appeal to all taxi operators to remain calm while we are engaging with affected parties. Law enforcement agencies have been deployed to police the affected areas. “We will work with the police in finding the perpetrators and we hope members of the community will come forward with information that would lead to the arrest of suspects,” Kaunda said. He sent his condolences to the family of the deceased. Mhlongo was a principal at Mpumelelweni Primary School.

The recovered drugs.
MAKHOSANDILE ZULU THE Ndwedwe Crime Prevention Unit arrested two suspects on Thursday, 18 August in the Umona area for being in possession of drugs. According to KZN SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thulani Zwane the two suspects, a mother, and son aged 51 and 22 respectively, were arrested at around 6am for being in possession of marijuana (dagga). The suspects are expected to appear in the Ndwedwe Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 19 August. “The members were conducting an operation in Umona area, Ndwedwe when they followed up information about drugs in the area. The members proceeded to an identified homestead where they searched the houses. Thirty three bags of dagga with the street value of about R100 000 were found in a house which was locked,” Zwane said.
Murder suspects appear in court MAKHOSANDILE ZULU THREE suspects, aged between 23 and 25, appeared in the Ndwedwe Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 18 August, facing murder charges. KZN SAPS spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Thu lani Zwane said the suspects were arrested on Wednesday, 17 August, by detectives from the Ndwedwe SAPS. “They were arrested during a suspect raid opera tion that was conducted by the members who were tracing wanted suspects,” Zwane said. He said the alleged murder they were suspected of took place on 6 August at around 11pm. “The victim, 35yearold Mpunyezwa Jali, was in his house at Ndwedwe mission when he was attacked by three suspects. He was stabbed several times on his body and he died instantly. “The motive for his killing is unknown. A case of murder was opened at Ndwedwe police station for further investigation. Through hard work by Ndwedwe detectives, the suspects were arrested and charged accordingly,” Zwane said.

Update on recent rains and water levels JYOTHI LALDAS
T
HE iLembe District Municipality has issued a formal apology to the residents of the Maphumulo, Ndwedwe and some parts of KwaDukuza local municipalities for the poor quality of water supplied through the Mvotshana Dam in Maphumulo. On Saturday evening, 20 August the municipality had to shut down the Mvotshana plant as a result of the high turbidites caused by the recent rainfall. This meant that no water was sup-
plied to some parts of Maphumulo, Ndwedwe and one ward in KwaDukuza. “We are pumping water right now, but it will take some time to reach all the other areas. The quality is not the expected level but it is safe for human consumption,” he said. Affected wards include Maphumulo: wards 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 as well as Ndwedwe; wards 3, 4 and 7 and lastly ward 27 of KwaDukuza. Meanwhile, Umvoti production this past week has been averaging 16 megalitres per day and only one emergency shutdown was experi-

enced due to some repairs on the prechlorinator. “However, this did not have any effect on the levels. Levels for Saunders, Stanger Manor, Zinkwazi, High Ridge Townview and Saddle Ridge were between 70% and 90% last week. With only Kearsney averaging at a low 40% and other areas between 50% and 65%,” said outgoing mayor, Welcome Mdabe. The Hazelmere Dam level is at 58, 1% with rainfall that was recorded around 56.3mm. Unfortunately, Hazelmere supply is still curtailed at 30% with the time

of use plan still in place in the Ndwedwe and Groutville areas. Due to the Umvoti system showing signs of recovery, five water tankers hired for the KwaDukuza areas have been put off hire. “We have 11 iLembe water tankers available for use with four in the workshop for repairs. “There are three from the Department of Water and Sanitation and 12 that we have hired to supply areas affected by drought only,” said Mdabe, who will vacate his post on Thursday. Residents and ratepayers across iLembe are still urged to use water sparingly and to continue saving as much water as possible. To report leaks and burst pipes or any water and sanitation related issues, please contact the 24 hour call centre on 032 437 9379 and like the ‘iLembe District Municipality’ Facebook page for updates.
The father of her child, whom she apparently shared living quarters with, Zakhele “Shakes” Mkhize says she was last seen at around 11am on Saturday and had reportedly said she is going to town, KwaDukuza. Mkhize says she packed all her belongings and left with their four-year-old son, Junior Fabiano “Fa” Mkhize and has been missing ever since and has been unreachable as her cellphone is off. He said she has a silver slit on her front teeth. “I’m worried about her and the child’s safety. I’ve had sleepless nights since Saturday because I’ve been looking for them. I even contacted her family and they also do not know where she is,” Mkhize said. The family is pleading with anyone who might have information on her whereabouts to please contact Mkhize on 076 034 0901 or 073 576 2211 or her mother on 071 556 8451.

ADVERTORIAL All about cataracts What is a Cataract? Cataract is a term used to describe the clouding of the natural lens of the eye. A clouded lens can be compared to a window that is frosted or “fogged” with steam. When the lens becomes cloudy, the light reaching the retina is blurred and distorted, and your vision is affected. This clouded lens is called a cataract, and it must be removed before vision can be restored. Cataracts are not cancerous. They can be treated with a surgical procedure performed in theatre done routinely by Dr Naidoo. Types of Cataracts The two most common types of Cataracts are: the cortical cataract and a posterior sub capsular cataract. Depending on the type of cataract the patients will experience different vision problems, but the most common symptoms include: . Blurring vision . Sensitivity to light or glare . Double vision in one eye . Poor night vision . Needing brighter light to read . Experiencing fading or yellowing of colours If the cloudiness is not near the centre of the lens, you may not be aware that you have a cataract.

Defining the future RANJENI MUNUSAMY WEDNESDAY was a huge news day. The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and Democratic Alliance (DA) were announcing their plans for local government in light of numerous councils left without a clear majority in the local government elections. On such a day, journalists just want to get on with the job of telling the story. So it was a bit bothersome that the EFF summoned us to Alexandra Township instead of its offices in cen-
MARGARET HIRSCH
tral Johannesburg where it usually holds media briefings. There was not even a proper address for the venue — the media alert simply said Setjwetla Circle, next to Green House Village. Like many informal settlements around the country, the place was filthy and a stench hung in the air. People on the streets stared as broadcast vans and our cars snaked through the rutted roads to a clearing in the middle of the settlement. Here, the EFF had set up a tent for the briefing. When Julius Malema and the rest of the EFF leadership took their seats and began addressing us with the backdrop of the sprawling township behind them, it made sense why the party had chosen the location. South African politics had become all about power games and a competition for wealth and resources. Millions of people living in sub-human conditions, like the area we were in, had become voting cattle and
pawns in the power games. The EFF had clearly chosen the location for the optics. Malema said the decision the party made, to not form any coalitions but to back opposition candidates in the hung municipalities, was to continue to fight poor people’s struggles. In terms of political strategy, it was an ace manoeuvre by the EFF. Later in the day, DA leader Mmusi Maimane walked into a packed media briefing at a Sandton hotel, flanked by leaders of four other opposition parties. He announced that his party had formed a multiparty coalition agreement with the Freedom Front Plus, United Democratic Movement, Congress of the People and African Christian Democratic Party in order to cogovern some of the hung municipalities. He also said the DA and Inkatha Freedom Party had a reciprocal agreement to back each other’s candidates,
although there was no formal coalition agreement. The agreements have far-reaching consequences, not only for the future of local government, but to shift power away from the ANC. All these opposition parties responded to the messages voters had sent, that a shake-up was needed and the ANC’s dominance needed to be broken. In one day, Malema and Maimane made announcements that changed the country’s course. Amid the drama of the day and while doing the sums of how the big councils such as Johannesburg, Tshwane and Nelson Mandela Bay would take shape, I could not help but be amazed at what these two young men had accomplished. Maimane is 36 years old and a relative novice in politics. He took on the mighty 104-year-old ANC, which controlled all levers of government, and claimed the jewels in its crown.
Life is a balancing act
change in a heartbeat. When my father died, in a split second our lives changed forever. However I know now that I would never be the person I am today if he had not died and left my mother and I to find our way in a world where we had absolutely no experience of life in general - we came from a very cloistered environment and were literally thrown to the wolves. I realised early on that it’s not what people say about you, it’s what you do that counts. If you like yourself, then you are okay. You know your own worth, and you don’t need to count on the kindness and goodness of others to tell you how good you are. You know. How do you get to where you want to be? It’s a journey. Confront your fears. Get over your first disappointment, your first lost love. Surround yourself with goodness and get the haters out of your life because while they are in your life there is no room for good people. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, and if you don’t have par-
ents to support you, then find someone who is waiting to nurture you. It’s different for everyone. When I met my husband I knew he was the right one. I saw the decency and kindness in him. And then my mentor Bob Rickards who was so wise and taught me all I know about business. People won’t remember what you say, but they will remember what you do. Huge success is the best way to shut people up who down you. Whatever you do - do it the best you can and then go the extra mile. People judge you on what you do and not what you say. In my business as in most, service is the name of the game, and whatever you are doing you need to be serving and if you serve well your life will go well. I am energised by the people I meet - both my employees and customers. Coming from nowhere and being poor I can relate well to those who also come from nowhere and I know that if I speak to them, I can show them that they don’t have to stay where they are, they can get ahead in life.
AS women we have to balance a lot our work, our home, our husband’s, our children, our finances. We have to be courageous and have a sense of our own self worth and not allow people to take advantage of us. How often do we actually do this, just because we want to be liked? Too often. A woman’s work is never done. Don’t be complacent. Things can

Family the real medal winners LAUDABLE though Wayde van Niekerk’s achievement is, it should be noted that he attended Grey College in Bloemfontein, a special private school which has produced some of this country’s best sportsmen. Much praise should be heaped on his parents and broader family, who come from disadvantaged circumstances, for enabling him to attend that school. It must not have been easy for them to put him through Grey College, and one can only praise them for their dedication and wonder at the sacrifices they must have made.

OPINION
The ANC’s loss of the three metros must hurt, symbolically, financially and politically. It is a major upset. At the age of 35, Malema continues to shake up the political scene in ways the ANC cannot predict. Since he established the EFF, the ANC has been on the back foot and continues to be outsmarted by him. The ANC was desperate for the EFF’s co-operation in order to retain control of key municipalities. The EFF not only rejected its overtures but responded in a way that caused maximum damage and embarrassment for the ANC. For people in places such as Alexandra, the daily struggles of living in squalor continue. One can only hope that the massive political shift that occurred this week will make a difference to their lives. But one thing is certain, the time of the old guard is expiring and the young guns are now defining the future.
• Ranjeni Munusamy is a political journalist and commentator for the Daily Maverick. ranjeni.munusa You must be able to take rejection and not worry about it. Just move forward, because if you are not growing, you are dying, you cannot live in limbo. You have to know that there is absolutely nothing you cannot do. You have endless potential, and opportunities present themselves all the time. You have to grab every one that comes your way. You have to wake up every day and say “Thank you God for sparing me for this day.” What you do for other people is how you measure yourself and you cannot help anyone else without helping yourself as well. Every day strive to be better than you were yesterday. You won’t always get your way. You won’t get what you want all the time - but God’s delays are not God’s denials. You can have it all, but you can’t have it all at the same time. Sometimes you have to make compromises. You have to continue to work. You have an obligation to do something special in this life. Please make me proud to be your friend.
A job for Chuck Norris
IT is so good to see our South African athletes doing so well at the Olympics in Rio. Special congratulations to Wayde van Niekerk for breaking the 400 m record — what a brilliant achievement. But what a pity about those dated drab tracksuits. It appears that the management dug into the archives from 30 years ago and found old stock, and all in size XXL. We looked ridiculous, with some athletes pulling up their sleeves to be able to shake hands. The apparel manufacturers have such stylish kits for most countries. The South African Olympics team management should be taken to task.
JUST who can replace the awesome Thuli Madonsela as public protector? Obviously somebody with great integrity, determination, resilience, strength and legal knowledge and experience. As the ruling ANC is likely to feel hugely disenfranchised after the August polls, we can only plead with Chuck Norris to be our public protector, as law and order are trademarks of his left and right legs, and intimidating him is impossible. Please, Chuck, South Africa needs you. You have made the U.S. safe, and this is a job only you can Nkandla the stress of.

Delfos/TWR new Masters champs DONOVAN NAIR THIRTY-three volleyball teams comprising stars of yesteryear from around KZN and Gauteng converged on UKZN’s Westville campus Sports Centre for the annual Geness Foundation sponsored Masters Tournament hosted by Ethekwini Volleyball last weekend. In the 35 to 39 age category of the Masters Tournament Tongaat’s Liberte overpowered Johannesburg based Mitch Park in straight sets (15-6; 15-9) with Kiruben Naicker and Pramesh Naidoo being the chief destroyers. The over 40 age category final between the defending champions WB Dolphins from Chatsworth and Delfos/TWR, a combination of Johannesburg and Durban based players had the crowd on their feet as the explosive exchanges drew loud cheers, clapping and dancing in the stands. In the tightly contested first set the Durban lads took a commanding 12-8 lead courtesy of a series of brilliant cross courts attacking from Nigerian national, Philip Ighomor who went on to pick up the best attacker of the tournament accolade. Refusing to roll over and play dead master setter Matthew Govender brought Delfos/TWR back into the hunt for a first set win when he serviced his twin left-handed attackers Beaver Wheatley and Paul Louw with well disguised sets that put his team in lead with a 14-12 margin. Under a pressure situation WB Dol-
phins’playmaker, Seelan Pillay’s ‘dink’ went straight into the net to give Delfos/TWR a much needed 15-12 victory. In a hard hitting 2nd set for the defending champions Rowen Valliatham and Philip Ighomor made their intentions quite clear that the Masters title will remain in Durban. At a heart stopping 12-12 the match could have gone either way had it not been for the brilliance of setter Matthew Govender who skilfully used his twin attackers Wheatley and Louw to close proceedings at 15-12 and march to the podium as the new Masters champions. At the post final presentation sponsor Sunil Geness from the Geness Foundation committed himself to making the Masters event a bigger and better one in 2017.

>> Aiming to reduce vehicle emissions
S
ULPHUR occurs naturally in crude oil and the Sulphur content can range anywhere between 100 and 33,000 parts per million (ppm). If the Sulphur is not removed during the refining process it will contaminate the diesel fuel. Depending on the crude oil used, as well as the refinery configuration, sulphur levels in diesel fuel it can be as low as 10ppm or higher than 10,000ppm. In South Africa, since Jan 2006, 2 grades of Diesel fuel have been available: Standard Grade diesel – 500ppm Sulphur (max) Standard Diesel 500ppm Low Sulphur grade diesel – 50ppm Sulphur (max) Low-Sulphur diesel 50ppm The major concerns with regard to the presence of Sulphur in fuels are: Health effects: Sulphur is the most important fuel parameter affecting exhaust emissions and it contributes significantly to fine particulate matter (PM) emissions, through the formation of sulphates both in the exhaust stream and later in the atmosphere. LowSulphur fuels burn cleaner and reduce engine particulate emissions. Low-Sulphur diesel is thus required primarily to reduce engine particulate emissions. Reductions in diesel fuel Sulphur will provide particulate emission reductions in all engines, regardless of the emission hardware installed. The latest generation of common rail engines emit 60% less particulate matter than their immediate pre-chamber predecessors, and when combined with a DPF system, reduce the number of particulates in the exhaust gases to the level of ambient air, and completely eliminates black smoke.
The lower the Sulphur level in the diesel fuel, the lower the risk of internal engine corrosion. The Sulphur contained in Diesel fuel is likely to be transformed into gaseous Sulphur compounds in the oxidation catalyst contained in the DPF system, and may be transformed through secondary sulphate particulates in the atmosphere. Therefore the use of Sulphur-free fuels in vehicles with DPF systems is highly recommended to avoid this phenomenon. Technological limitation: Another reason for introducing lower Sulphur fuels is to allow for the introduction of emissions control devises that can significantly reduce vehicle emissions. These technologies are already in place and are continuous being improved to further control vehicle emissions. However, these technologies generally require specific fuel qualities, often including low Sulphur levels. The presence of Sulphur in fuels restricts the possibilities to use or introduce emissions control technologies. Furthermore the efficiency of some exhaust after-treatment systems is reduced as fuel Sulphur content increases, while others are rendered permanently ineffective through Sulphur poisoning. Oxidation catalysts are widely used on diesel passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in South Africa since 2006 to help meet emission requirements. They are effective in reducing unburnt hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide from the exhaust, but they are not able to burn soot particles in the exhaust. The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) allows vehicles to achieve extremely low values of particulate emissions through the filtration of solid particles from the exhaust gas. They can be very efficient, removing more than 90% of the PM from the exhaust, and have been successfully used both for HD diesel vehicles and for diesel passenger cars. The latest generation of common
rail diesel engines have electronic injection strategies for increasing exhaust gas temperatures, so combusting the trapped particulate and thus making it possible to regenerate the DPF while in service in the vehicle. Vehicle effect: The presence of Sulphur in diesel fuel can lead to the corrosion and wear of engine components and this can have a significant effect on engine life. As the Sulphur level decreases, the relative engine life increases. During combustion, the formation of Sulphur oxides and water vapour combine resulting in Sulphur acids (sulphuric and sulphurous acids). During combustion, nitrogen from the air is also oxidised, forming nitrogen oxides (NOx) which in turn become nitric and nitrous acids. These acids are extremely corrosive to engine components, so good quality engine oil fortified with appropriate levels of neutralising agents are necessary to protect the engine components from damage. Exhaust Gas Re-circulation (EGR), is now widely used in Light Duty and Passenger vehicles and to a lesser extent also in heavy duty engines. EGR effectively returns a portion of the exhaust gas back to the engine under part-load operating conditions. Since NOx formation is extremely sensitive to temperature, by replacing some of the intake air with inert exhaust gas, the flame temperature can be reduced by a small amount and the NOx emissions can be reduced without seriously affecting the combustion efficiency. The exhaust gas is usually cooled before returning it to the engine via the intake manifold and the small amount of sulfuric acid in the exhaust may condense, and this presents a risk of internal engine corrosion. The lower the Sulphur level in the diesel fuel, the lower the risk of internal engine corrosion.

McGregor and Furby storm to Dolphin Coast title Despite a mishap that cost them the opening stage vic tory Euro Steel/EPic Kayak’s Hank McGregor and Lee Furby dominated day two to win the Gara Dolphin Coast Challenge from Suncoast Pi rates to Zinkwazi over the two days from Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 August.
W
ITH a tough overnight deficit to overturn the pair of Hank McGregor and Lee Furby paddled like men possessed as they stormed to overall victory on the second stage of the Gara Dolphin Coast Challenge from Salt Rock to Zinkwazi on Sunday. The opening stage took paddlers 42kms from Suncoast Pirates Surf Lifesaving Club to Salt Rock and the mild conditions gave the pair of Matt Bouman and Wade Krieger the edge as they pipped Euro Steel/Epic Kayak’s McGregor and partner Furby to the opening day honours. The Epic Kayak’s pair of Bouman and Krieger were in the pound seats following the opening stanza and went into the second 32km leg of the race with a 40 second advantage over the chasing McGregor and Furby whilst Fenn Kayak's Luke Nisbet and REVO Kayak's/Bay Union's Gene Prato were three minutes back in third. The opening day of the race was not without drama as the final sprint ended in a win for Bouman and Krieger after a mishap from McGregor and Furby which cost them the stage win. "We were hoping to win both days but we had a little altercation with a surfer and we fell off our ski on the sprint to the beach on Saturday," McGregor mentioned after their overall win. "That error definitely made us more hungry to win the second stage and I am stoked that myself and Lee were able to put in the performance we did today to claim the Dolphin Coast title. "Being part of the race from a sponsorship point of view just made it that much better to win - it was a great stage for us to be on and win on." The race was an exciting one heading into final stage and all the contenders decided to take varying lines in the benign conditions on Sunday with McGregor and Furby's tactics proving to be the difference on the day. "We decided to not go too deep today

and rather remain in the shallower water whilst Matt and Wade went deep which made quite a big difference at the end of the race. "Steve (Woods) and Bevan (Manson) used a similar tactic to us and they managed to get second on the stage today. "The conditions were tough today with an off shore wind blowing and I think that the fitter pairs were able to benefit from it," added McGregor. The 40 second deficit that McGregor and Furby had to overturn on the second day was going to be a tough ask however they made a push heading into the final half of the day and never looked back after that until they were over the line. "We got to Blythdale and I told Lee that we needed to stretch the guys, and we did that. "Making up the time was the first goal and then we pushed as hard as we could to Zinkwazi and we are just really happy to have got the win!" a satisfied McGregor commented. Despite a barnstorming second day, which saw them finish second, the pair of Woods and Manson ended outside the top three with Nisbet and Prato taking the final podium spot. One of the stand out results was the Carbonology mixed duo of Bailey de
