Rolene Strauss was crowned Miss World at the weekend and now features in a long list of remarka ble women who continue to make a difference to the countries they live in and the world. South Africans also took time through out the year to remember Nelson Mandela and do their bit to fulfill his legacy. It’s been a year since his death and many ques tioned the stability and patriotism of South Afri cans. The good news is, it seems as if communities are now more united than ever. Many believe his spirit still lives on calling it a sprinkling of ‘Madiba magic’. Clearly South Africans will continue to make great strides despite the negative news that some times comes to the fore. The Fever would like to wish all our fantastic cli ents and readers a wonderfully happy festive sea son and here’s to welcoming 2015 in style.

WINTER FAIR 2016

CHILD WELFARE SA: KWADUKUZA

Fair director’s message T

HE Winter Fair is a highly anticipated event on KwaDukuza's social and entertainment calen-

dar. It is a time when the community comes together to enjoy fun filled activities and at the same time support a worthy cause. We are facing difficult economic times that has resulted in financial constraints for Child Welfare. The Winter Fair is held annually to raise much needed funds to sustain the organisation and to render social work services to the community. The management and staff face many challenges to ensure that efficient and effective services are rendered to the community. The Winter Fair gives the community an opportunity

to partner with us to build a better KwaDukuza. Patrons can enjoy a good entertainment programme that caters for all age groups, an explosive fireworks display, Car Show and Shine with a Sound Off, a spectacular funfair and an array of stalls for an exciting shopping experience.Sumptuous food will be available at our food stalls. This year we have created the Kids Corner for more children's entertainment. Thank you to the management committee and staff for the collective effort in the planning of the winter fair. A big thank you goes to the community of KwaDukuza for their continued support. Join us for a fun filled weekend at Winter Fair 2016 from 1-3 July.

LEMBE District Municipality handed over the Macambini Water Supply Scheme – phase 3B to the community at Sishi Sports Ground in the Macambini area, Mandeni, last Wednesday. When completed, the scheme will serve approximately 798 households in the area. Construction of the scheme entailed providing 22km of bulk pipelines and 90km of water reticulation pipelines at a cost of R34 364 539.31. Work on the scheme commenced on 9 March 2015 and was completed on 25 April 2016 managing to remain within budget, and making a saving of R17 797. 89. Furthermore, the labour intensive construction work created 130 jobs for locals at a cost of R3. 5 million, with 20 individuals receiving accredited technical training. As part of empowering local Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), the services of two locally based subcontractors were acquired at a cost of R2. 1 million. One of the residents, Mrs. Sishi, a

pensioner living with her children and grandchildren, said she is happy that community members will now have water piped into their yards. She said before this, and in light of the drought crisis that has gripped areas within the district – and province, the community depended on water tankers provided by the district municipality. The handover was part of the iLembe District’s leg of the provincial government’s programme to celebrate 16 years since the establishment of local government. The celebrations entail lighting the local government flame which has, and will continue to, travel throughout the province. The handover was attended by iLembe District mayor Welcome Mdabe and Mandeni deputy mayor Phindile Sishi. PHOTO: MAKHOSANDILE ZULU

THE Mandeni Municipality will spend just over R16 million to provide homes in the Sikhonyane and Vutha areas with electric power, announced Mayor Siphe sihle Zulu recently at Vutha Sports Field. The Mayor was speaking at the launch of the electrification project where the contractors tasked with car rying it out were also introduced to the community. Zulu said about 122 households from the Sikhonyane area will be provided with electric power at a cost of R3, 5 mil lion. This project, he said, should take

three months to complete. At a cost of R13 million, 604 house holds will be provided with electricity in the Vutha area and that project should take five months to complete, said the mayor. “I would like to thank the Mhlon go Traditional Council for playing a part in making sure this project be comes possible. “I would also like to thank the community and Eskom for being able to persevere after a series of meetings we held regarding the project,” he said. Zulu urged members of the com munity to be wary of criminals who

MAKHOSANDILE ZULU ZAMANI Ndlangathi (25), who was arrested for being an accomplice in the murder of Zakhele Medical Gumbi, was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for the crime. Ndlangathi was sentenced on 15 June after he pleaded guilty to murder. His co-accused Mbeko Gumbi (20), the son of the deceased, remains in custody and is due back in court on 11 July. The two accused – who are reportedly friends – allegedly murdered Zakhele on 29 May in the Thembeni area, in KwaDukuza. According to a source, the deceased was with his two sons, the accused and a younger one aged 10, at the time of the incident and that the father and the suspect “had a sour relationship”.

Treating constant neck, head and shoulder pain with acupuncture

INSIGHT VISION IN VERULAM:

CONSTANT neck pain is a common problem and is quite difficult to deal with and can be very troublesome since it impacts negatively on all aspect of one’s life and health. WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CAUSES OF NECK PAIN? Damaged nerve (pinching of nerve), degenerative disc disease, injury, whiplash, constant exposer to cold wind, stress, holding the neck in the same position for a long time, im-

proper or quick movement. SYMPTOM OF NECK PAIN ARE: Constant headache and neck pain - especially pain at the back of the head - stiffness, back pain along with neck pain, shoulder and arm pain, swallowing problems, dizziness, poor concentration, depression, feeling light headed, irritability, anxiety, eye pain and glandular swelling. TREATMENT FOR NECK PAIN: We, at Holistic Wellness Centre, use

acupuncture, therapeutic massage, cupping, electro therapy and heat therapy to improve the flow of blood in and around the affected area. Thus, nerve function are restored and symptoms related to neck pain start subsiding. Patients respond fantastically and almost immediate relief is felt, since we are treating the root cause of the problem and not just the symptom, thus enabling you to live a pain free life.

For all of us, stiffness and pain are a way of life to which we have become habituated and it is not often until we receive acupuncture cupping and therapeutic massage that we realise our muscles are tight or how much of our energy is consumed by stress. If you or someone you know is suffering from neck pain, consult with these qualified and registered acupuncturists so that you get the relief you deserve.

We can help you lead a pain free life naturally without any side effects. To make appointment, call Doctor Of Chinese Medicine, Dr. Meena Kasim MD(Acu) on 032 944 2761 or 082 786 4127. 100 beats per minute or lower than 60 beats per minute does not always mean you are at risk. For example, people experience a faster heartbeat when exercising and a slower than normal heartbeat when sleeping. If you are physically fit, your normal resting heartbeat may be lower than 60 beats a minute.

What is arrhythmia? Arrhythmia is a condition in which the heart beats abnormally. The heart could either be beating rapidly or chaotically, slower or faster than normal or some beats could be triggered too early.

What causes arrhythmia? Causes include disease of the heart muscle, coronary arteries or valves, disease of the electrical system of the heart or damage from a heart attack. High blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, excessive alcohol intake, stress and some medications can also result in arrhythmia.

Are arrhythmias life threatening? Arrhythmias can be harmless, serious or life threatening.

WEEKLY

weeklywheels Black is the new ‘in’ colour for Tata >> The Evolve is very competitively priced with a significantly different exterior and interior appearance

T

HE Tata Evolve limited edition, which is based on the Xenon XT model, has found favour with many buyers looking for higher specification double cab pick-ups at a reasonable price, so an additional limited exterior colour choice has been made available. When this model was introduced, earlier this year, it was offered only in white. Now Accordian Investments, which markets Tata cars and light commercials in South Africa, has listened to input from customers and potential customers and added black as a limited exterior colour. The Evolve is very competitively priced with a significantly different exterior and interior appearance to distinguish it from the other models in the Xenon range. The Evolve is offered as a 4x2 model and the retail price (including VAT) of the limited edition Evolve models is unchanged since introduction at R269 995. A 4x4 model is also available, but only by special order. The exterior of the Evolve Special Edition has a number of important, added value features including a rollover bar behind the cab, side steps, a front nudge bar and a tow bar as well as unique badging and a special decal package. The alloy wheels have been revised as an additional distinguishing feature. The big change to the interior is luxury leather trim for the seats, while the Evolve logo also appears on the interi-

or floor mats. The Xenon range blends modern styling, comprehensive safety features, including ABS and dual front airbags, as well as a host of convenience features such as GPS navigation and Bluetooth compatibility. Other items of standard equipment are electric windows, power steering, an audio system with an MP3 player and a tilt-adjustable steering column. The Evolve is powered by a new generation 2.2-litre turbo Tata diesel engine with variable valve timing, variable turbine technology and direct injection with a common fuel rail. It develops 110kW of power at 4 000r/min with peak torque of 320N.m available between 1 500-3 000/min. Power goes to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission, with the option of four-wheel drive models for harsh off-road driving. The double cab models have lockable rear differentials to aid traction in loose or slippery conditions. “The Tata Xenon Evolve special edition model has proved to be an excellent example of the way in which Tata listens to input from its customers and dealers,” said Kyri Michael, the CEO of Accordian Investments. “This has resulted in us now offering the Evolve in black in addition to the well received and well sought after white for the growing market of South Africans using double cab bakkies, to even better suit their business and leisure needs.”
