Within a developing high-tech park and adjacent to a university, this international school campus locating in suburb area of metropolitan city of Wuhan will provide K-12 study environment to 3 international schools: 1 English school and 2 French schools. Schools will have their own teaching building and share a small size theatre and a sports facility, as well as a academic size of soccer field acting as a buffer to isolate campus from outside. To accomodate 3 schools inside a tiny site with only one side adjacent to public road bring us first challenge of campus circulation.

History of Campus Development In many respects, the UNIS Hanoi campus in Tay Ho District is young compared to many of their international school counterparts of similar caliber and reputation. While other well-regarded international schools have steadily grown for several decades and developed reactively in short bursts of unplanned growth and decline, UNIS Hanoi’s current campus was planned just 5 years after its founding as a purpose-built campus

Located at the northern edge of the site and serving as the first point of focus for visitors, the research and development zone consists of three major portions: research labs and offices, conference center / health services management, and the multinational corporation future expansion zone. Organized around the slightly curvilinear form of the adjacent municipal road, the research labs and offices form a rhythmic procession which directs visitors towards the locus of the site delineated by an iconic structure which is the convention center/HSM combination. Parking and future expansion are masked by this screen of buildings, providing visitors with a seamless introduction to the entire zone.

XIANGYA HEALTH VALLEY II DUSK VIEW OF CCRC COMMUNITY

Following the previous masterplan of Xiangya Health Valley, project scope has been revised and programs have been split to two parcels; one site has 126 mu with town center, research center, senior living, hospital, and school, while the other site has 39 mu with CCRC program. 39 mu site is a highly restricted site that only one small corner of site adjacent to public road and at the center of site there is a unconstructible water area occupying over 50% of the site area. Preserving the water and plan program along the lake shore will be feasible and access better view and orientation. Vehicular circulation will surround the buildings and lake to avoid traffic crossing.

126 mu is relatively flat site to accomodate more programs for research, health management/ hospital, and senior living. Three major program components can be identified and generate three phases of construction accordingly. Research and health management will be in the first phase prior to senior living in order to have service in place to serve residents later. Town center and school come after phase 1 to complete the daily and urgent service needed by senior. The rest of 4 towers of senior housing will complete the whole planning on this site.

This is a residential interior remodeling project for a single person, and potentially can accomodate a couple as a small family. Originally built in 1980’s, this is a two bedroom unit with only kitchen and bathroom. To convert old unit type to accomodate modern household space such as formal living and dining space, south facing master bedroom has its partition wall in between it and kitchen removed and to create a large open space with functions of kitchen, dining, living, and study. Introducing small bedroom concept from Frank Lloyd Wright, space has been traded from preserved bedroom to bathroom to create confortable size for basin area, while shirnked bedroom only keep function for sleeping.
