China Resource Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital is a renovation project of CR’s existing hotel which is closed for business and seek for new life with brand new function of rehab hospital. This project is consisted of 1 existing hotel structure to be remodeled as the patient tower and 3 smaller new structures to accomodate outpatient department and administration office. The biggest challenge is to convert existing shear wall structure without enough space and height in order to fit fully functional rehab tower inside.

1.Inpatients are brought to Patient Holding Areas at floors 2 and 3 in Building A, using the main elevators, with privacy for holding patients in wheelchairs. Stretcher patients are not generally brought to the central therapy areas but receive therapy at the Inpatient Nursing Floors.

2. Outpatients use the two new Outpatient ElevaAdult Therapy tors from theServices Central Concourse to reach floors 2 or 3, where they go to a central Reception/ Main Waiting area. All visits are scheduled appointments to minimize waiting time.

2. First-time outpatients register at the outpatient Registration Center at Building B Ground Floor. After registration, on subsequent visits outpatients have scheduled appointments and go directly to their point of care. 3. Using the Building B elevators, patients go to floors 2-8 as needed for services. Each service area has a Reception and Sub Waiting area for short term waiting. 4.After receiving services, patients make payment arrangements at the Reception/ Collections desk in that service.

Outpatient Pharmacy, located in Buildings B and C. 1.Outpatients enter Building B either from the Ground Floor lobby and the Central Concourse or by using the bridge at floor 3 from Building A. Patients who have arrived by private car can enter the Building B elevators from the parking levels.

Medea Wuxi Obstetric Hospital is a renovation project for healthcare interior, consisting of two major departments: gynecology and obstetrics. Renovated hospital will have 35-bed, including 15-bed of LDRP suite. Maternity Center is the feature service located at the center of the hospital. Each floor houses one major function of hospital: ambulatory care, diagnostic and treatment, maternity center, and inpatient service; to correspond to the function, each floor has themed with natural features and color.

Concordia International School Shanghai is renovating their elementary school library and seek new idea to store over 1500 books with lecture and reading space. The scheme has been set with multiple concentric circles while book shafts pointing toward the center of circles that can host study activity for a group of students. Little corner spaces have also been created in between radial layout of book shafts and bigger corner of common space has been defined. Circulation desk occupying one corner along circles can overlook the whole library to provide service and security.

The design concept is derived from the combinations of traditional Chinese music instrument and symbol for music note, which provide variety of spatial arrangement to accommodate the functional needs for either an extension of main campus heart or a brand new higher education campus.

Shandong University Qingdao campus is a design competition hold in 2010 with 4 international notable firms in the finalist and Perkins Eastman won the competition in two rounds. Carrying the project into the constructible master plan phase, master plan clearly divide to 4 major areas linked by major axis running north-south through the whole site. With main academic area located at the heart of campus, living area flank on north and south end of campus with convention center and sports area adjacent to them. At the north and south end of main axis, there is performing arts center on the north and museum on the south; while at the end of cross axis cutting twhrough the center of campus, there is library and administration center. Taking advantage of sea shore location, campus own a long coverage of beach and marina, which bring this campus very unique character stand on top of other higher education universities in China.

Brooklyn School of Music is seeking ideas to renovate their existing facility that need to accomodate more programs while historical building shall be preserved as much possible. Considering multiple design constraints, such as municiple code for building setback, facade preservation, program requirements, as well as their preferred operation model for multiple type of users: students, performers, and public. Design starts with diagrammatic approach and aim to resolve every issue with diagrammatic approach. With this quite experimental way, solution of spatial arrangment to accomodate all requirements has been suggested. A series of transformation gradually shape the functional program from number to 3D space. By setting back volume, cut and divide space to accomodate different functions of

Originally planned as a high-end private villa residential neighborhood in the rural area of Shanghai city, Greenland Group, one of top chinese developer, completedly convert them to senior living complex with active adult on 2/3 of site on the west and 1/3 of CCRC on the east. By utilizing existing site condition, canal has been introduced to connect river and creek on two side of site. 4 gardens have been further developed as urban garden, green garde, water garden. and CCRC living garden. To create warm and cozy living environment, as well as coordinate with the existing building style and color tones, beige stone, orange terra-cotta, and grey tile have been further applied, along with approaches that reducing building massiveness by re-scaling proportion and applying frame over building envelope.

Changsha notable healthcare provider Xiangya would like to develop a large campus with general hospital, senior living/ CCRC, commercial complex, club center, convention center, and research center near the downtown of Changsha. Hilly site condition with power line easement separate the site to two part while north site contain hotel, retail, club center, hospital, and research center, and south site accomodate CCRC and residential program. Commercial program has been placed as the center of site development and rest of programs sitting along the main road connecting north and south parcel.

Following the previous masterplan of Xiangya Health Valley, project scope has been revised and programs have been split to two parcels; one site has 126 mu with town center, research center, senior living, hospital, and school, while the other site has 39 mu with CCRC program. 39 mu site is a highly restricted site that only one small corner of site adjacent to public road and at the center of site there is a unconstructible water area occupying over 50% of the site area. Preserving the water and plan program along the lake shore will be feasible and access better view and orientation. Vehicular circulation will surround the buildings and lake to avoid traffic crossing.

Capland Care City Shopping Center is a project of facade renovation with colorful scheme to revitalize the original monotone skin in order to bring in energetic and happy tone into the mall. Color as a coding to indicate programs creates a lively and cozy elevation by mixing different color of programs and multiple rainbow ribbon wrapping all the way around building. Layering of color further emphasize the horizontal appearance of facade to extend reading of spreading outward.

Lotte Intime Department Store is a facade renovation of existing department store in Wangfujing district in downtown Beijing. New facade study soon establish a floating mass strategy to create a more transparent base for anchor store front. As shown in facade study below, major entrances to the department store has recognizable height of transparency to emphasize and differentiate from boutique store front. To revert the original heavy feeling of old facade, a more welcoming layer of space flow has been created by floating mass strategy.
