How We Welcomed The Year of the Pig

Mario Botta. The Space Beyond

A Note from the Editor Dear Members, If the start of the year is any indication of the months to come, the Year of the Porker promises to be a corker. (Sorry, I couldn’t resist that feeble rhyme.) The Chinese New Year celebrations were sensational, the Valentine’s Dinner was lovely, and the Pool Party was a splashing success. Of course the big news around the Club is the closing of a chapter that I will always think of as ‘the Carsten Kjeldmann era’. Not just because I am half-Danish (yet all I know of the language is a nursery rhyme my late father taught me on his knee), but also because he was a key decision-maker in the appointment of my small company to produce your Club magazine, I will be forever grateful to Carsten. My gratitude, not to mention my respect and genuine affection for Carsten, does not stop there. Over the years, he has extended endless professional courtesies to my colleagues and I. He has never made us feel like mere suppliers, but always treated us as valued partners. When we have occasionally slipped up and allowed errors to find their way into print, he has been stern but forgiving. On behalf of SPEcial, the company that produces this magazine, I would like to personally thank Carsten for his years of support, his treasured friendship and above all, his faith in us. Carsten – you will be missed. We wish you and your beautiful young family all the very best of everything this life, and this wonderful little gem of a country called Singapore, has to offer. Meanwhile, dear Members, please embrace and enjoy all that your wonderful Club has to offer. Happy Easter! Yours,

A Word from the

Committee

We wish Carsten and his family all the best for the future, whether it is in Singapore or elsewhere, and thank him once again for his accomplishments.

Dear Members and Friends of the Swiss Club, It is with regret that we inform you that Carsten Kjeldmann, our General Manager of four years, has left the Club to spend more time with his 7-month-old son and with his Japanese wife, who recently relocated to Singapore. The Committee appreciates Carsten’s personal wish for a ‘sabbatical’ and has therefore accepted Carsten’s decision. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Carsten for his time and his contributions to the Swiss Club. Carsten was a strong believer in customer satisfaction and was willing to change things for the better. This, we believe, can be witnessed in the various upgrades and offerings made to our Members over the years. Some of these accomplishments – big and small – have left a positive impact on the Club. The Committee and the Management team are committed to continue on this path with similar activities and results. We wish Carsten and his family all the best for the future, whether it is in Singapore or elsewhere, and thank him once again for his accomplishments, some of which we would like to specially mention here, as it is not always apparent how much work goes on behind the scenes to make our Club a better place. In 2015 the now annual Christmas Tree lighting was introduced for the enjoyment of kids and adults alike to add a real Christmas feel with snow machines, mulled wine and cookies. Could it be that Carsten had a special connection to Santa himself due to his Danish origin? Arbenz was voted twice ‘Best Restaurant’ in 2015 and 2016 by the esteemed Beefsteak & Burgundy Club (Chapter 253) introduced to the Club via Carsten’s strong Food & Beverage network. 2016 also saw the innovation and introduction of the tagged towels and the towel machine, which has helped to substantially reduce missing towels, labour cost and the disorganisation we experienced at times during a busy weekend. This was also the time when Aveda Spa and Hair Salon were introduced for added membership offerings. In 2017 the pool furniture and the children’s playgrounds were upgraded, followed by the introduction of the Summerfest in 2018.

Reciprocal membership arrangements with the Singapore Cricket Club and ONE°15 in Sentosa were added to the benefits of our Members. More such reciprocal membership arrangements with overseas Clubs are in the offing. For the past four years, under Carsten’s leadership with the team, the best Oktoberfest net profits for the Club were recorded. On a smaller, yet equally important note with regards to the environment, the change of plastic take-away boxes and straws to recycled paper was Carsten’s initiative. Last but not least, Carsten worked tirelessly on the initiation and Masterplan project for the Clubhouse renovation, which was approved at the last AGM and which is scheduled to commence this year. New activities such as Murder Mystery Nights in March and Opera Nights in May, exclusively organised for Members and Guests, are to follow. Furthermore, a new outdoor fitness area will be created for fitness enthusiasts to exercise outdoors amidst the lush greenery of the Club. Installation is scheduled to commence end of March. The Gym will see new and upgraded equipment as of April, such as cardio equipment, treadmills, exercise bikes, ellipticals and rowers. The Committee together with the entire Management Team will ensure the continuation of improvements to our Club and will support the Deputy General Manager Aaron Lim, who has succeeded Carsten on an interim basis, to keep the Club running in the best possible way – and throughout the renovation. Yours sincerely,

Rolf Gerber President president@swissclub.org.sg

Adrian Jacklowsky Deputy President deputypres@swissclub.org.sg

A Word from

Carsten

Dear Members, Committee and Colleagues,

I would like to thank everyone whom I have had the pleasure of meeting and sharing Club moments with over the past four years. I value the many new friendships formed. As Rolf and Adrian mentioned, my priorities simply changed. After much consideration, the conclusion is – family comes first!

I have enjoyed every minute at the beautiful Swiss Club. Since it takes energy and commitment to ensure progress, as it does to raise a family, I made a decision to take a sabbatical for an unspecified period of time and let my successor focus on the Club’s redevelopment and future.

Singapore will, for the time being, still be called home. Feel free to ask any of the staff or Committee Members for my contact details, and drop me a text or email if you would like to stay in touch. Yours Sincerely,

C. Kjeldmann

$65 per bottle $14 per 150ml glass

The right choice for a hot summer day. A beautiful and pure bouquet of tropical fruit, citrus and hints of white flowers is followed by a fresh and lively taste. A solid and well integrated acidity balances the 13.5 alcohol and together with nice and long lasting fruit this brings a lot of drinking pleasure.

Dark colour with violet hues. A very intense bouquet with scents of fresh flowers, red berries and a hint of Asian spices. A tasty, fruit driven red with a soft structure, fine concentration, a fresh and juicy feeling and a pleasant fruit taste on the end.

$65 per bottle $14 per 150ml glass

The 2015 Blanc gives up lovely scents of lemongrass and fresh grapefruit with hints of chalk dust, lime blossoms and mandarin peel. Medium-bodied, very citrusy and fresh in the mouth, it’s seriously minerally with chalky and saline notes, finishing with great persistence. Recommended for drinking from 2018 to 2024.

The 2015 Grand Village is deep garnet-purple in colour with a nose of warm plums, black forest cake and spice box with notions of anise and tilled soil. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy with nice freshness and plenty of juicy/earth-laced fruit to pave the long finish. Recommended for drinking from 2018 to 2030.

A Chat with Our Chef Given his towering height, you really can’t miss our Executive Chef, Adrian Vogt. However, you may not have spoken to this man of few words but many talents. We were lucky enough to catch him in a rare chatty mood. SWISS-BORN AND TRAINED A youthful looking 38-year-old, Adrian spent three years training as a chef in Davos, Switzerland before working in various Swiss fine dining restaurants. His employers included the restaurant in the FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) headquarters, where he cooked for many of football’s luminaries. He also undertook a 4-year programme in F&B management. At the Swiss Club, Adrian is in charge of all food-related matters, from menu planning and costing to special events. He relishes the challenge of catering to many Members of differing nationalities and expectations, and takes pride in Arbenz winning the title of Best Restaurant from the Beef Steak & Burgundy Club, two years in a row. “But every triumph is teamwork. No chef will survive alone,” said Adrian, acknowledging the hard work of his colleagues in the kitchen and on the restaurant floors. ADRIAN AFTER HOURS A little known fact about Adrian is that he is a keen tennis player, and plays at least two or three times a week. In his younger days, he competed in tournaments in Switzerland. Another little known aspect of Adrian’s life is his local Singapore-Chinese girlfriend. When she was flying with Singapore Airlines, their schedules often clashed and

dating was difficult. Now she’s changed jobs, Adrian gets to see her more often. “Since she is a well-travelled gourmand, we often enjoy nice dinners. We have also established a little wine ‘cellar’ together,” shared Adrian. ON FOOD AND FITNESS We were keen to get Adrian’s take on healthy eating, given that he is both a chef and a sportsman. “Try to listen to your body. Do not follow every food trends. Eat small portions throughout the day, and try to tailor your intake to your daily schedule. For example, if you have a gym session, eat light protein-rich foods,” advised Adrian. As for favourite foods, Adrian loves simple pasta dishes, salads and fresh fruits. Though he enjoys a good steak, he is not into so ‘high end’ foods, preferring simplicity and quality over snob value and novelty. MUST-TRY MENU ITEMS Before ending our conversation, we asked Adrian to cite a ‘must-try’ dish from the Club’s menus. He promptly replied – Chef Mark’s Uni Pasta, Chef Jacky’s Beef Noodle Soup and my Veal Zurich. “I often hear Members say that our Veal Zurich is better here than back in Zurich. Our new Tandoori chef has added some tasty new dishes to the Tandoori menu, too. Give them a try!”

After the Club renovations, Members can look forward to more healthy and fresh food offerings. There will also be more traditional Swiss delicacies on the menu, only presented in a new, modern way. F&B FORECAST: HEALTHY WITH A DASH OF SWISSNESS

As for Adrian and his team, they are all looking forward to working in a new kitchen. Meanwhile, they are committed to upholding the same stellar standards that you have been enjoying at the Swiss Club.

Fun! On the sunny Sunday afternoon of 20 January, our Pool Party commenced with a splash. FROM FLOATS TO FLOSS Young and old got to ride in a fabulous flotilla comprising a mega-inflatable float and fancy unicorn and flamingo floats. Some energetic souls joined in a water fitness class with noodle floats, while kids got in the swim with friendly games and races organised by aquaDucks. As you can imagine, all that fun worked up quite an appetite. Sizzling sausages and burgers really hit the spot while candy floss provided a sugar rush. All in all, a super Sunday was had by all!

HOW WE

YEAR We ushered in the Year of the Pig in fitting style, with a sumptuous reunion dinner and a lively lion dance. Here is the pig torial evidence.

Yusheng – Its Meaningful Ingredients

A ROUSING REUNION DINNER

Ingredient #2: Pepper & Cinnamon Powder (胡椒粉, Hu Jiao Fen) Phrase: 招财进宝 (Zhao Cai Jin Bao) Meaning: ‘Attract wealth and treasures’

Once again, Arbenz played host to the yearly Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner on Monday 4 February, the eve of Chinese New Year’s Day. Adorned with pussy willows, mandarin oranges and all things oriental, it set the scene for some high-spirited and high-flying gatherings. Members of Chinese and non-Chinese origins tossed up good fortune with the traditional auspicious salad known as yusheng, which was prepared by Arbenz staff and collectively tossed into the air by the chopstick-wielding diners at each table. A succession of delicious and authentic Chinese dishes followed. Guests left replete with an abundance of good food and great memories.

Ingredient #1: Raw Fish (生鱼, Sheng Yu) Phrase: 年 年有余 (Nian Nian You Yu) Meaning: ‘Abundance throughout the year’

Ingredient #3: Oil (油, You) Phrase: 一本万利 (Yi Ben Wan Li) and 财源广进 (Cai Yuan Guang Jin) Meaning: ‘Make 10,000 times profit with your capital’ and ‘Numerous sources of wealth’ Ingredient #4: Peanut Crumbs (花生粉, Hua Sheng Fen) Phrase: 金银满屋 (Jin Yin Man Wu) Meaning: ‘Household filled with gold and silver’ Ingredient #5: Sesame Seeds (芝麻, Zhi Ma) Phrase: 生意兴隆 (Sheng Yi Xing Long) Meaning: ‘Prosperity for the business’ Ingredient #6: Golden Crackers (薄脆饼干, Bo Cui Bing Gan) Phrase: 满地黄金 (Man Di Huang Jin) Meaning: ‘Floor full of gold’ Ingredient #7: Plum Sauce (酸梅奖, Suan Mei Jiang) Phrase: 甜甜蜜蜜 (Tian Tian Mi Mi) Meaning: ‘Sweet and loving relationship’

WELCOMED THE

OF THE P G THE LION RETURNS

On Sunday 9 February, the annual lion dance started promptly at 10.30am outside the Clubhouse. A group of excited kids had assembled ahead of time to ensure a good view of the prancing lions, and were joined by well-wishers of all ages, races and nationalities. In total, a healthy turnout of around 40 spectators witnessed the spectacle.

The duo of lions and their trailing musicians put on a show of dancing, plucking the leaves of the auspicious lettuce and volunteering four lucky digits for the crowd. They proceeded to the Management offices to bestow their blessings on the team, then ascended the stairs to Arbenz before proceeding to Pergola and the Guesthouse, via the tennis courts and swimming pool. We applaud the entourage of enthusiastic and energetic children who tirelessly trailed the lions from stop to stop. Let’s hope you’ve stockpiled plenty of good luck for the year ahead!

Meanwhile, the ladies’ STA team, capably led by captain Corinna, will valiantly vie for the title. KIDS COME OUT TO PLAY In January, we held the first Junior tournament of the year. The level of the children’s abilities increases at an amazing pace. Kudos to the kids, who are very committed to their training and very focused in match situations. Passionate About Padel As we ushered in the Year of the Pig, The Swiss Club also welcomed a new padel and tennis coach, Alan Douglas. FROM TENNIS TO PADEL Alan is British and a former professional tennis player and coach. He learned to play padel in Dubai and taught at the Real Racquet Academy in 2016 and 2017. Alan’s passion for padel is palpable and infectious. He explained how his relatively recent familiarisation with the sport helps him empathise with padel newbies. “Having come to padel after tennis, with no background in squash or padel, I find myself able to relate really well to new padel explorers who are coming from a tennis background and faced with all the challenges of an abbreviated technique, lower knee bending and letting the ball go past you, which is surely the biggest challenge of all,” shared Alan. SOCIABLE AND EGALITARIAN Alan claims that padel is much more forgiving than ‘big tennis’, and being a doubles game it is naturally very sociable. He cites the fact that players of differing standards are able to come together and enjoy a game of padel far more easily than they could play tennis together. It’s sociable and egalitarian! “They say padel is the fastest growing sport in the world, and it may well be. In my few years of exposure to it, I’ve seen it rapidly expand in both the UAE and the UK, where courts and clubs are popping up out of nowhere,” said Alan. “A friend even opened a padel club in Las Vegas last year and an outdoor court in Stirling, Scotland, where the sun occasionally shines!”

They say padel is the fastest growing sport in the world, and it may well be. In my few years of exposure to it, I’ve seen it rapidly expand in both the UAE and the UK, where courts and clubs are popping up out of nowhere.

PADEL PLANS At the Swiss Club, Alan plans to promote the padel club spirit and share his passion for the sport while encouraging more participation and social integration as well as offering coaching. Pop by the padel court and say hi to Alan. Better still, give padel a go!

Getting Fit and Keeping Fit After the New Year’s Hoorah…

See visible results after just a few months of regular workouts

So, your resolution was to get fit this year? You kicked off January with your first few runs. Bought a new gym membership, signed up for some classes. Might have even got a new pair of trainers to go along with the resolution. Sounds like you? Read on. TYPICAL TIMELINE Week 1… You’re full of motivation. Week 2… Somehow getting that run in seems to become harder with work piling in and obligations to fulfil taking priority. Week 3… It’s been a few days since you last put those new shoes on. In fact, the only shoes that have seen any action are your dancing ones. Week 4… In a bid to not fail on your new year’s resolution, you vow to not fall into the same pitfalls from the year before. You re-muster the mental strength you need to put those shoes back on and head out for whatever physical activity you can do. Then comes the CNY holiday! A week of lunches, dinners, tossing of yusheng, boozy parties and/or travels.

Getting fit hinges on you being prepared to make physical exercise, healthier eating habits and getting sufficient rest a key priority in your life. If you like socialising, join a group class. Having motivational factors around you will ease your pathway towards achieving a healthier you. It has been said that you are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with. Find a social circle who are interested in healthy living – or influence the people around you to adopt a positive change. The key factors that allow you to successfully attain your physical fitness goals are right under your nose. Over the years of training people at the Club, we have developed many programmes that have successfully paved the way for your peers to become healthier and fitter. Why not join them on the path to fitness? A SAMPLER OF OUR PROGRAMMES

At the end of the week you realise your clothes still feel tight, you’re demotivated and you think – why even bother?

Indoor Cycling

Tuesdays, 8.30am

Aquabiking

Wednesdays, 7pm and Saturdays, 9am

Here’s the kicker. Even you do stay on track, the hardest part is to remain consistent after six months.

Personal Training

Mondays to Saturdays, by appointment, from 7am

MIND YOUR BODY Working out and staying in shape is one of the most easiest yet hardest things for people to do. Getting fit and healthy is more of a mental challenge than a physical one. In order to successfully make that switch to a healthier you, you must first mentally prepare yourself to make a lifestyle change. Article courtesy of Timothy Felix, Active Fitness Director

Mario Botta. The Space Beyond A Documentary by Loretta Dalpozzo and Michèle Volontè

In October last year, the Embassy of Switzerland was pleased to present the Swiss documentary ‘Mario Botta. The Space Beyond’ (‘Mario Botta. Oltre lo spazio’) as the opening film of Archifest 2018 in Singapore. Those who missed the screenings will get another chance to see this enthralling and thought-provoking film in April, when Botta himself visits Singapore. TWO SUCCESSFUL SCREENINGS The first screening of the documentary took place on 5 October, followed by a second screening on 28 October, preceded by a Q&A session with film director Loretta Dalpozzo and Archifest Festival Director Yann Follain. The healthy attendance at both sessions contributed to a record number of visitors to this year’s Archifest film programme at The Projector. CELEBRATING A SWISS ARCHITECT The documentary is an artistic and personal journey into the work of internationally acclaimed Swiss architect Mario Botta. It asks the question why a globalised society feels the urge to build sacred spaces – and why Botta feels the need to tackle the issue now more than ever. Passionate and tireless at 75 years old, Botta is one of the few architects who has built places of prayer for the three main monotheistic religions. The documentary draws on some recent projects of Mario Botta in South Korea, where he designed a church in Namyang, and in China, where he designed a mosque in Yinchuan. Swiss film director and producer Loretta Dalpozzo, who hails from Mendrisio in Ticino, comes from the same town as Mario Botta. As an experienced freelancer journalist and correspondent for Swiss TV, Loretta and her co-director Michèle Volontè embarked on a global pilgrimage to make this documentary. Their documentary subsequently showcases Botta’s great architectural works in Europe, Israel and Asia. ABOUT BOTTA Growing up in Mendrisio, Mario Botta already knew as a child that he wanted to become an architect. He designed

his first building when he was just 16 years old. After studying in Venice, he launched his career with his own architectural practice in Ticino. Mario Botta had the opportunity to learn from architectural geniuses including Carlo Scarpa, Le Corbusier, Louis I. Kahn and Luigi Snozzi, whose influence can be seen in many of his buildings. He often works with solid building materials such as natural stone, brick and concrete, and cultivates a strictly geometrical and plain formal language. He also likes to play with light and shadows. This combination gives his solid buildings a light and elegant appearance. Botta always uses the same architectural elements from an inexhaustibly broad spectrum of forms when designing his inimitable works. Many of his works can be found in his homeland, Ticino. In addition, Mario Botta is active worldwide and has many admirers far beyond the borders of Switzerland. Examples include the Cathedral of Évry in France (1990), the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (1995), the Cymbalista Synagogue in Tel Aviv (1998), the Watari Museum in Tokyo (1988) and the Kyobo Tower in Seoul (1997). ENCORE! The Embassy is pleased to welcome Mario Botta during this year’s Swiss Week from the 15 to 16 April 2019 for a talk and discussion about his work, together with a screening of ‘Mario Botta. The Space Beyond’. If you missed last year’s screenings, make sure you seize this second chance to view the documentary.

Swiss School Supports Local Makers

NEWS FROM THE

Christmas is a time to count one’s blessings and be thankful for what we have. Last year, the Swiss School in Singapore decided to give back to the local community. THANK YOU, SINGAPORE On behalf of the entire community of the Swiss School in Singapore, we would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation for the support that we have received from the local community to date. We have been very fortunate to have enjoyed Singapore’s warm hospitality for the past 53 years, and hope to enjoy it for many more years to come.

SETTING UP SHOP As part of our Advent celebrations, we invited ten different vendors to take part in a mini Christmas Market. Many of them were Singaporean entrepreneurs who started their businesses in the recent past. All of them were thrilled to take part in the bazaar. Local vendors included florist Sparrow Studio, yarn necklace maker Woven For Eve, handmade clay earrings maker Clayvage, and waterproof child-safe necklace maker Tarakette. We were particularly impressed by the remarkable startup Paper Houses, which was started by two 15-year-old schoolgirls.

I M P R E S S I O N S

Glad to Meet the Eves-Glardons We had the pleasure of first meeting Nancy Eves-Glardon at the 2018 Oktoberfest. Join us as we get to know her and her family a little better.

A MULTI-CULTURAL FAMILY A Swiss citizen, 48-year-old Nancy is of African descent and is happily married to her British husband Michael, who originally hails from London. The couple have a 15-year-old son named Noah. Nancy speaks of Switzerland with great fondness. She loves the co-existence of four languages in a small country, and the enriching effect it has upon the culture. Cultural riches aside, she also appreciates the wealth of scenery in Switzerland. In particular, she loves the beauty of the Alps not only for their breathtaking scenery but also because she enjoys skiing, hiking and alpine runs. In Switzerland, Nancy worked for a reinsurance company. Upon moving to Singapore at the beginning of 2018, she decided to dedicate her life to making a new home for her family and helping them adapt to their new environment. When we asked her to share her personal philosophy of life, she shared a gem of an insight. “Don’t let yesterday use up too much of today,” advised Nancy. LIFE IN SINGAPORE Given her admiration for the multi-cultural society of Switzerland, it’s not surprising that Nancy loves Singapore. “Singapore is full of energy and culture, with everyone living together peacefully. It is an inspiring place to stay,” said Nancy. She also admires its well-documented efficiency, cleanness, safety and modernity. Since moving to Singapore, Nancy has been no slouch. She’s had intensive Mandarin lessons for six months, and has learned to love the language. She also plays golf with her husband and takes part in many sporting activities.

9 THINGS NANCY LOVES ABOUT THE SWISS CLUB 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

Wide range of sporting activities, especially tennis Lovely location Family-friendly atmosphere Ease of making new friends Vibrant diversity of a multi-cultural membership base Friendly restaurant staff and management Uber-yummy brätwurst and schnitzel Great coffee and fresh juices Awesome annual Oktoberfest

WILD ABOUT SPORTS Nancy and her family joined the Swiss Club after joining the Singapore Cricket Club. The wide range of sporting activities and facilities on offer were a strong drawcard. “The Swiss club is situated in a lovely location, and provides a great balance to our city lives. We love lots of sports activities and you will often find us on the tennis courts,” said Nancy. Nancy divulged that she had recently had some personal training at the gym with Jason, who, we quote, “… is a lovely instructor but very tough.” (You’ve been warned.) In the months to come, Nancy looks forward to learning new sports at the Swiss Club. She hopes to improve her tennis and join a Club team. She also looks forward to meeting new and interesting people. “Everyone in Singapore has their own story to tell,” said Nancy. Case in point – we loved hearing Nancy’s story. Be sure to swap your stories with Nancy and other new Members at the Swiss Club!

I N T E R E S T

Last Word

ANOTHER WONDERFUL EVENING Hi Christine, As I mentioned before, we’ve held our events at the Swiss Club a number of times in the past, and have always enjoyed it. This year I received many comments about how nicely the Club was decorated, and how delicious the food was (our thanks to the chef and the cooking staff). Your team did a wonderful job. I’d also like to commend your event staff there for the evening. They kept things running smoothly, and were a great help. We will certainly keep the Swiss Club at the top of our list for events in the future. Have a great holiday season! Best regards, Steven

HIGH PRAISE FROM A LEGENDARY HOSPITALITY BRAND Dear Aaron, I would like to convey for my sincere thanks to you and your team for yet another successful Christmas party for our team. I am sure you could tell that everyone really enjoyed themselves! From the start of the process, Christine has been very flexible and responsive, which made planning this event at the Swiss Club extremely easy for me.

RAVE RACLETTE REVIEW

Yusri too was beyond amazing and he deserves a commendation as well. There were many things that were requested at the last minute but he was always so willing to assist. He really went the extra mile to help us with the preparation of the tequila shots, a request that we only conveyed to him on the actual day itself. His can-do spirit was truly the best.

Dear Carsten, Aaron and Christine,

Once again, thank you for helping us to create a night to remember!

We were very happy with your service and the two events. Your team is very organised and the service is outstanding. The Raclette was especially nice.

Best regards, Charlene Chue Sales Administrator, Mandarin Oriental Singapore

THE DATES SUMMERFEST

Join us for a day-long celebration of summer. There’ll be carnival games, stage performances, face painting for the kids, food stations including a sizzling barbecue, copious cold beer and wine… A perfect day out for the whole family!

Don’t miss the three ‘biggies’ on the Swiss Club calendar…

SWISS NATIONAL DAY

Indulge all evening long with a sumptuous buffet including ever-popular raclette stations. Dance the night away to live music, possibly pick up a prize in the lucky draw, and let your little ones join in the lampion parade to the big bonfire!

20TH SWISS CLUB OKTOBERFEST

This legendary Bavarian-inspired beerfest needs no introduction. Widely regarded as ‘Singapore’s party of the year’, it features rousing performances from a Munich-based brass band, a feast fit for kings and more fun than you’ve had since high school. Sunday is family day Frühschoppen.
