Attachment Case Study Narrative: Luanna grew up with a single mother who struggled to make ends meet. As a child, she was raised in a series of homes belonging to her mother’s various boyfriends. Eventually, Luanna was lured into prostitution once she turned 16. She soon became addicted to cocaine given to her by her employer and became pregnant. Her boss began beating Luanna because of her pregnancy, and eventually she escaped to the streets. Within a week, she delivered the baby 3 weeks early. Luanna didn’t receive prenatal care but still loved her baby. However, without breastfeeding support, her baby struggled to latch. The stress began to catch up with Luanna and one day after hours of crying, Luanna found herself shaking her baby. It was at this point she knew this pattern wasn’t safe and decided to leave her baby outside of a hospital. Karla was found - sickly, malnourished, and alone.
