Taking a step back, doesn’t that mean my business will stop growing? Not necessarily.

Messes with your head doesn’t it. How could taking a step back and switching off from business help you move forward? Well, I’m about to teach you and it’s something that I encourage every woman to do on a regular basis. In this article, I’m going to take you through some simple, very basic ways to help you step back so you can keep moving forward. A great reminder for all those feeling overwhelmed and tired from a big year at the office.

Knocking on Heaven’s Door:

The beautiful thing about God is, that He doesn’t work like the world does. In fact, the bible shows us that many times God works the opposite. Let’s take a look at Jesus. The Jews thought Jesus was going to be born from royalty at the time that He would be this great loud, in your face, mighty hero figure probably a bit like Hercules (I’m thinking Arnold Schwarzanegger hitting a camel in the head in the late 90’s movie) but how far wrong were they.

Instead, Jesus is born from a virgin, in a stable, with no help (ouch!) and He became a carpenter, He looked like and average guy and died the MOST terrible, most humiliating death at that time. Hollywood let down, I think. But why would God send something that the world thought it needed? After all He is the Almighty, and after creating the whole universe I think we can trust Him to know what’s best for us.

The world tells you that to succeed in business you need to go harder and longer, more hours, more pressure, more tools, more more more and only then will you be successful!

When you’re a daughter of God most high you can put a stop to all that nonsense. Yes, there are times when you have to roll your sleeves up and get dirty, sitting on Netlfix everyday thinking your business is going to build itself - not going to happen. We can, however do business with a different mindset from a worldly one.

What does this mean?

It means everything you do in your business, you can now do from a place of rest. We sit next to our father in heaven and we keep our eyes on Him. Spending time with Him on a weekly basis in our businesses taking time away from the emails and “the doing”, completely immerse ourselves in His word and in prayer & worship. Trust me when I say, when you take this time out and God will look after you. He is your source not your business. Your business is just a channel for you to make wealth to do your thing, God is the one who provides the “oil” and He can decide which channel you get the oil from. If God is your source and He never runs out of oil wouldn’t you want to spend more time with Him in your business over doing the actual work? I know I would and do. Every time I spend this time with God, the more oil He gives me to burn, the more customers and members we get, the more I can do business in Jesus’ rest.

Remember that great idea that came when you were washing

the dishes?: Have you ever felt like you’ve been sitting at the computer for hours, working away at an idea and it feels like forever and you’re not getting anywhere? Or a time where you’ve been away from the computer maybe on holidays, doing the washing up or even in the grocery store and suddenly the best idea EVER pops into your head, or God drops a golden nugget with instructions and you’re like, holy cow that makes so much sense, lol.

This my friend is your subconscious actually having time to process things. When we’re constantly at it, grinding day in day out, we don’t give our subconscious time to process things, it’s only when we step into the outdoors or take ourselves out of the “office” we give our mind time to breathe. We clear our heads and focus on something else then BAM! The million dollar idea strikes, like a lightning strike. “Why didn’t I think of that before?” You ask yourself. My answer, because you’re not giving yourself enough time away from the screen. This will not only make you a better person, but you’ll be a better business owner, with solutions to your problems flowing through like a river in the tropics. This will also open your head space up to hear God’s sweet voice.

How Do I Do This?

Mainly having boundaries and setting healthy working hours. Along with your God time (which from what we’ve learnt, amplifies anything that you’re doing in your business, He’s your source) you then need to work out when you’re actually working in your business. I know solo business owners and those who run multimillion dollar businesses that when Friday hits, laptop and phones are turned off. Guess what, their businesses are still there on Monday and they had that dedicated time with their families over the weekend and the head space to go back in on Monday. You may wish to only work four days or three days in your business and dedicate the other days to your family and lifestyle. Either way, making sure you have those set working times at the screen means when you’re at work you can be at work. When you’re not a work you turn off from it, you might even choose to go on a lunch time walk without your phone. This one is one of my favorites. I do this when I go out with hubby too. I leave my phone at home… It’s pure bliss, nothing to check, nothing to distract me. Just Hubby and I talking and enjoying whatever is that we’re doing. What activity (though you may need to be disciplined to do to start off with) can you do that’s away from your screen that you can do in your day? That’s nothing to do with your business. Book it in, hold it tight and allow your brain to process things and your brain to switch “off”. Same on the weekends and on your days off. What is it you can do that gets you in the outside and sunshine with your loved ones? Away from the screens.

There you have it, two simple things to do in your business that will help you take a step back to be able to move forward in a more “restful” way. Time with Jesus and time away from the screen and your business. Giving yourself and your body the time it needs to process and switch off while having a ball with the people you love. See how you and your business grows.
