This Week in Sunday school:
The students will be studying “The Birth of Jesus,” through several verses in Luke (New Testament 1 - Lesson 6 of “Growing In Christ”). PACK MEALS FOR THE HUNGRY through the Feed My Starving Children Organization Join volunteers from the South Metro in packing meals for starving children around the world. They would like to pack 4 million meals during the dates of February 1-6, 2016. The packing will be done at the old Rainbow Food building, 15125 Cedar Ave (Cedar Avenue and County Road 42) in Apple Valley. Each shift is two hours long. For Your Information At the Voter’s Meeting last Sunday January 17th, a motion was presented and passed granting a $10,000 gift to Larry Johnson for his 10 years of service in the church and a $4,000 gift to Deaconess Kris Hansen for her 4 years of service in the church. Important National Youth Gathering Meeting There will be a meeting for all those who have registered to attend the National Youth Gathering and their parent/parents at 7pm on Wednesday, January 27th in the Youth Room. Preschool Registration: for the 2016-2017 academic year is open, for returning families and families of Christ Lutheran Church. Please see the January Newsletter or the Church website for a description and cost of the classes. Our very own Hannah Hartog: will be taking a mission trip to Budapest, Hungary with Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent, June 30-July 8, 2016. Hannah is the daughter of Curt and Karra Hartog and is a junior at Concordia University, St. Paul. Hannah is asking for donations to help fund her trip. Upcoming Meetings and Events Confirmation Family Activity Night: This Wednesday, January 27th, from 6-7pm, the 6th-8th Grade Confirmation Class will be having a Family Activity Night. This means that parents and siblings of the Confirmation Class are encouraged to participate. We will begin with Pizza at 6pm and an activity to follow. For help in ordering the pizza please let me know how many in your family will be attending by emailing me at pastorhahn.clc@outlook.com. I would greatly appreciate it.
Get Involved Materials Needed: The igloo will be returning to the preschool room. We are in need of empty, clean gallon containers (please rinse any gallon milk or juice containers with bleach water). Please place any donations outside the preschool classroom. Readers wanted: Do you have a favorite childhood story? Do you love to read to children? If so, we would love to have you as one of our Preschool guest readers! Guest readers are needed Thursdays and Fridays at 11:30 am. A sign-up sheet is available in the east hallway on the preschool bulletin board. Please see Michele Lukanen if you have any questions.
