Verse of the Week: 2 Corinthians 4:5

I want to walk as a child of the light. I want to follow Jesus. God set the stars to give light to the world. The star of my life is Jesus. In Him there is no darkness at all. The night and the day are both alike. The Lamb is the light of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus. I want to see the brightness of God. I want to look at Jesus. Clear Sun of Righteousness, shine on my path, And show me the way to the Father. In Him there is no darkness at all. The night and the day are both alike. The Lamb is the light of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus. I’m looking for the coming of Christ. I want to be with Jesus. When we have run with patience the race, We shall know the joy of Jesus. In Him there is no darkness at all. The night and the day are both alike. The Lamb is the light of the city of God. Shine in my heart, Lord Jesus. LSB 411; Š 1970, 1975 Celebration. Sunday Morning Bible Class We’ll beginning a new 6-week Bible study with the Lenten theme “Thy Will Be Done.” As we look at the Biblical characters of Abraham, Moses, David, Mary, Paul, and Lydia, we see how God’s will for them stood in sharp contrast to their own dreams, ambitions, worldviews, and identities. The call of God through the Gospel changed everything for them, and it has changed everything for us.

The Bible Story for this Sunday, February 11th, is "Ahab Covets Naboth's Vineyard." The story will remind the children that they need to be content with what they have, and that God provides all we need in this life.

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE, FEBRUARY 14th, 7:00 PM The theme of our Lenten services this year is “Thy Will Be Done." This Wednesday, we will be led to remember that by faith, Abraham trusted the will of God when He promised that a son would be born to him. God’s will was done when that son, Isaac, was born, and God’s will was done when His Son, Jesus, came into the world to redeem His people.

New Cradle Roll Person Needed! Christ Lutheran Church cares for infants up to 3 years on our Cradle Roll. We need someone to take this over. It’s a very meaningful ministry of encouragement to the parents and the little ones. Please consider if you would be the right person to take this over. Call the church office if you want to know more!

Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday! On February 14, many of us will not only open a Valentines card but also receive ashes on our forehead. Certainly Valentines Day has its Christian overtones. Traditionally the holiday observes the martyrdom of St. Valentine, about whom we know little. It’s not too long of a leap, therefore, to suggest that being marked with a cross of ashes reminds us that, like St. Valentine, to bear the cross of Christ is to risk persecution and even death. One who experienced the connection between ashes and martyrdom on April 1, 1945, was Dietrich Bonhoeffer. He was martyred eight days later. He said it well in The Cost of Discipleship: “The cross is laid on every Christian. . .When Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.” Ashes certainly symbolize Baptism, death, rebirth, and repentance. They also mark us as those who bear the cross of Christ even unto death. (From an article by Rev. Dean Nadasdy, President of the MN South District, LCMS)
