A note from Pastor

Lead Like Jesus These last few months have been rather taxing on many of us as we have been focusing on reconciliation and restoring relationships. We have been learning a great deal about this process. Reconciliation is not something that is fully restored with the snap of a finger. It will take time and effort to move toward a preferred future. It will take time on our knees in prayer. It will take time as we are fed and strengthened by God's Word and Sacraments. Our focus needs to be on Christ. As we are just beginning reconciliation a Bible study is a good place to start. The study "Lead Like Jesus" will hopefully help us to experience Jesus in a new and different way, to grow to trust Him as the perfect One to follow as we seek to lead others. This will involve surrendering our lives and leadership to Him. The real secret to leading like Jesus is found in Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." Jesus is clear about how He wants us to lead: He asks us to make a difference in the world by being effective servant leaders. It is my prayer and desire that "Lead Like Jesus" will be the beginning of a new and exciting chapter in our journey to becoming effective servant leaders here at Christ Lutheran Church. We will begin this study by asking the questions: Are you a leader? Who will you follow? and How will you lead? Then we will go on to discuss the Heart, Head, Hands, and Habits of a servant leader. The concepts in this study are not complex but they are challenging. They can be applied at any level of leadership. I strongly encourage everyone to take part in this Church building effort as we gather together to be fed and strengthened through God's Word and teachings. Now is not the time to turn away and run. Now is the time to pull together and draw near to God and to bask in the gracious gifts He has given us at Christ Lutheran Church. To God Be The Glory! Pastor Hahn

Preschool News

It is hard to believe that as I write this, there are only 6 weeks left of this school year. The children have grown so much both physically and spiritually since September! There are still a couple fun activities before the end of the school year. On May 17th the Minnesota Children’s Museum will be coming to the preschool to present Dino Dig. The children will learn all about dinosaurs and participate in fun dinosaur-themed activities. On Wednesday, May 25th the preschool will have an end-of-the-year program at 6:00 pm. The program will once again be in the main church. The children will sing a few songs and then enjoy a PowerPoint presentation of the school year. After the program everyone is invited to come into the Fellowship Hall for cookies and punch. Christ Lutheran Church congregation is invited to join us for the evening. The last days of preschool are May 26th and May 27th. The Tuesday/Thursday class has been changed from a 3’s class to a mixed age class. Since our Monday, Wednesday, Friday class filled so fast we wanted to make room for more 4 year olds. The enrollment in the Tuesday/Thursday class is 6 as I write this in mid-April. Thank you to everyone who has supported the preschool this year! We truly appreciate everything that you do!

VBS News Basic Information: Vacation Bible School this year will be led by Camp Omega camp counselors. The dates for VBS will be June 27-July 1, 2016. Children going into 1st grade through 5th grade will be staying all day (9 am through 3 pm). Children who are preschool age through going into kindergarten will be staying half day (9 am through 12 pm). The cost for full day will be $25 per child with a $50 maximum for a family. The cost for half day will be $20 per child. How can you help? Camp Omega will be providing 4 counselors for the week. We are in need of volunteers to house a volunteer or two for the week. If you are able and willing, please contact Michele Lukanen (michele.clc@live.com). We are in need of more adult volunteers. Camp Omega requires a staff to child ratio of 1:10 for elementary age and 1:5 for preschool age. They intend to have one of their counselors dedicated to the preschool age group. The other three will be with the elementary age. Thus, we are in need of adults (18 years or older, as required by Camp Omega) to help with the preschool age especially. If you are willing and able to help, even if it is for one day, please contact Michele Lukanen (michele.clc@live.com). We are in need of youth volunteers. While youth cannot be considered leaders, they are very important to the overall program. They have the ability to really connect with the campers. Their enthusiasm can help a shy child come out of his/her shell and really enjoy the program. Youth volunteers can be anyone who is going into 6 th grade through going into 12th grade. If you are able and willing to help, please contact Michele Lukanen (michele.clc@live.com). Camp Omega is bringing all supplies for art and games. However, snack is the responsibility of the hosting congregation. A list of snack supplies will be coming in early June. Please consider helping through a donation. How do I register my child/grandchild? A registration form will be available in May both in print at church or online at www.christlutheraneagan.org. For more information, please contact Michele Lukanen at 651-454-4091 or michele.clc@live.com.

Mother’s Day Flower Sale: The Mother’s Day flower sale will be on Saturday May 7th in the church parking lot. The sale goes from 10am-1pm or until the flowers sell out! Constitution and By-Laws Committee: The Church Council is seeking volunteers to be part of a committee to examine and propose changes to the Constitution and ByLaws. This informal group will report to the Church Council recommendations for changes to both the Constitution and the By-Laws. After Church Council consideration, the changes recommended may proceed through the approval process as outlined in the Constitution and By-Laws. If you would like to participate on the committee or have suggestions, please contact Kelly Callahan or let Pastor Hahn know. The Trustees: are looking for volunteers to help mow the church grounds. With enough helpers, each person may only have to mow about 4 times during the season. Most of the mowing is done with a large lawn tractor. Contact Jeff Aldinger for more info or to sign up to help. Rev. Dr. Mark Noren, has announced his retirement, effective June 3, 2016. Pastor Noren’s service to the church-at-large and to our District has been a blessing to many! For this reason, a dinner to celebrate his 30+ years of pastoral ministry is planned for Sunday, May 15, 2016, 6:00 pm, at St. Michael’s Lutheran Church (9201 Normandale Blvd. 55437; www.smlcb.org; 952.831.5276) in Bloomington, MN. To reserve places for the dinner please call Debra Connolly at 952-2232158 by no later than Friday, May 6. There is no charge for the banquet; a free will offering will be received to defray expenses. A second way you can participate in this event is to write a letter highlighting Mark’s (please include his wife, Gail, if you wish…) impact on your life. We invite you to send a one-page letter which will be included in a book of letters to be presented to both of them at the retirement dinner. Your letter may be sent to President’s Office/Debra Connolly, MN South District – LCMS, 14301 Grand Avenue South, Burnsville, MN 55306.

Psalm 9:18 reads “For the needy shall not always be forgotten and the hope of the poor shall not perish forever.” On Saturday, May 14th, at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall we will have the opportunity to hear about the work Dakota Woodlands (located in Eagan) does in providing shelter and supportive services to homeless women and families. We hope you can join us for this presentation. In addition to this presentation we are asking for donations to their Wish List: Currently there is a real need for the following: Baby Wipes; Diapers (especially sizes 3-6); Paper Towels; and Disinfecting wipes. Other items are Towel sets; Toilet paper; Paper napkins, 13 gallon trash bags, Baby oil, powder, wash and shampoo; Shampoo/Conditioner; Liquid Hand Soap; Toothbrushes; Bacitracin, Women’s deodorant, Laundry baskets, Brooms/dustpans; shower curtains, and pillow covers. Let us pray: Dear Father, thank you for your abundant blessings. Please give us generous hearts so we gladly share what You have given us with the women and children at Dakota Woodlands. L.I.F.E Groups

Our LIFE groups will soon be ending another year. They have been meeting to study God’s word, fellowshipping ,praying and serving. It has been a busy year with studies in Ephesians , Colossians, Revelations, a book titled ‘Bless These Lips’ and other topics. The Wednesday Ladies LIFE group has served at church for several funerals with the help of CLC members as well. Lately for Carl Kruggel. and Marlan Moldenhauer funerals. Donations have been sent to Paralized Veterans . The Monday night LIFE group moved to Eagan Pointe last fall. It has been a good move and several of the residents have joined us from time to time. It is also good when our “sno-birds” return in the spring. We break for summer as so many activities develop for families. We urge all to stay in God’s word during this time and plan to return for fall. We are also praying for new people to join us and fill our OPEN CHAIR. As I thought of our goals for Living in Faith Everyday , being in Gods word is our foundation. John 3:16 is one of the things we build on. Possibly best known of scripture. It pops up even at sporting games. Max Lucado shares some thoughts on this verse: “ The heart of the human problem is the heart of the human. And God’s treatment is prescribed in John 3:16 He loves. He gave. We believe. We live. Could you ponder the words of Christ and never immerse yourself into John 3:16? The verse is an alphabet of grace, a table of contents to the Christian hope, each word a safe-deposit box of jewels. Read it again, slowly and aloud, and note the word that snatches your attention ….. “ God so loved the world….” We expect an anger–fueled God. One who punches the world, recycles the world, forsakes the world….BUT loves the world? The world? This world? Heartbreakers, hope snatchers. And dream dousers prowl this orb. Dictators rage, Abusers inflict. But God loves. And he loves the world so much he gave his: Declarations? Rules? Edicts? NO. The heart-stilling, mind-bending dealmaking-or- breaking claim of John 3:16 : God gave his Son…his only Son . No abstract ideas, but a flesh wrapped divinity. Scripture equates Jesus with God. God, then gave himself. Why? So that “whoever believes in him shall not perish.” This is what Living In Faith Everyday means when we embrace the very words of the Bible. God had a plan from the time of creation. Make a plan now to be in God’s word as you enjoy this summer. God may have something special in His word you won’t want to miss. PSALM 40:5 MANY, O LORD MY GOD ARE THE WONDERS YOU HAVE DONE. THE THINGS YOU PLANNED FOR US NO ONE CAN RECOUNT TO YOU; WERE I TO SPEAK AND TELL OF THEM THEY WOULD BE TOO MANY TO DECLARE. God’s blessings to all, Sharonlee
