If you continue to use the kitchen pail the City distributed when the program was introduced, that’s fantastic! Many folks, however, have discovered other convenient ways to collect food scraps.
Collect food scraps and soiled paper in the pail or a convenient container of your choosing. No plastic bags please.
Empty the pail or a container’s contents into your green yard waste cart. If the collection container itself is paper, simply drop the container into the cart.
Set Out your yard waste cart at the curb for weekly collection and take pride in doing your part to help the environment and to help Union City meet its recycling goals.

The Fun Workout for Anyone, Any Age, Any Ability! The creative geniuses at Zumba have introduced Zumba Gold. This program was designed for the older, active adult, a person who hasn't been exercising in a long time or individuals who may be physically limited. The biggest difference between Zumba Gold and Zumba basic is that Zumba Gold is done at a much lower intensity. It's just as much fun, just not as fast! Zumba Gold utilizes the same great Latin styles of music and dance that are used in the Zumba basic program. To get more information, please call (510) 675-5495. Smoking and Tobacco Regulations !!!
Did you know that smoking regulations have been adopted by the City of Union City? Union City promotes a healthy living environment & protects non-smokers from exposure to secondhand smoke where they live, work, & play. In November, 2010, the City Council restricted smoking in rental complex units, unenclosed common areas, & outdoor dining spaces. Tobacco retailers also need to obtain a local Tobacco Retailer License.
Key Requirements:
• Smoking is prohibited in all rental complexes (2+ units) common areas (enclosed & open). • As of Feb. 23, 2012, smoking in any rental complex, including balconies & patios, is prohibited. • Smoking is prohibited in all outdoor dining areas of restaurants & surrounding 25 feet. • Smoking is prohibited in parks, public events, and service areas (i.e., bus stops, ATMs). • Clear, conspicuous, and unambiguous “NO SMOKING” or “SMOKE FREE” signs are required in places where smoking is not permitted. For more information, please refer to Municipal Code Chapters 5.42 and 7.13 or contact Avalon Schultz, Associate Planner, at (510) 675-5321 or ASchultz@unioncity.org
No alcohol is allowed at any of our parks!
There is no exclusive use of any Union City park. Park permits only reserve picnic areas and BBQ units. There may be other events going on at the parks simultaneously.
Sports Fields!!
Union City has several sporting fields available for reservation. Fields can be used for a variety of sports. You need to have a permit in order to use the field for any type of organized game or practice. For more information, please contact the sports field staff at the Sports Center at (510) 675-5805.
Inflatable Bounce Houses!
They are only allowed in designated areas and require a generator. You may not have a bounce house at any Union City park without a park reservation.
