Mona Shiraz, born in Iran in 1975, is an artist whose recent works serve as a profound autobiographical exploration. She delves into the intricate emotional connections between poetry and painting, using her creative process as a means to distill bitterness into personal refinement. Shiraz draws inspiration from her own feelings, allowing her art to become a canvas for the expression of her hopes, failures, gains, and losses in life. Her artistic journey began in her youth through art classes and continued with formal education in fine art at the University of Art in Tehran. Over the years, Mona Shiraz has exhibited her paintings several times in Iran, marking significant milestones in her artistic career. In 2001, she embarked on a new chapter, relocating to London, where she pursued studies in interior design at Central Saint Martins, a decision that has led to a plethora of accomplishments in her artistic endeavors ever since.

“Painting, for me, is a driving force of emotion, and I enjoy using color in relating that emotion. As I layer thin glazes of paint and let it develop as my “inner vision” dictates, expressing strength, gentleness, rhythm, and color, my subject develops. I then emphasize and strengthen my subject with controlled and free strokes to keep the painting loose and energetic. Many times, I add hidden images to keep the painting interesting in expressing my thought or emotion.”

“My elaborate acrylic and watercolor drawings take shape instinctively. My process is a spiritual experience guided by my heart and intuition. When I create, I shut out the rational side of my brain and let the subconscious and intuitive voice speak through my hand and onto the paper.
