CIS Security Limited are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted in the Employer of the Year category in the BeLambeth Awards 2024! For recognising innovative projects, driving social change, and providing support and opportunities for employment to individuals who have been in the care system. We are passionate about helping individuals not just with finding a job, but a career they enjoy in the security industry.

ONE CROWN PLACE - BEHAVIOURAL DETECTION TRAINING

In April, CIS Security Limited Specialist Behavioural Detection Trainer, Simon Riley BA (Hons) conducted Behavioural Detection training at One Crown Place.

This course included security personnel, concierge, and cleaners from eight different CIS premises. This demonstrates great collaboration across different locations and shows how we can bring service providers together using the power of hello to benefit residents, occupiers and visitors to One Crown Place.

CIS’s Security Manager, Andrew Gough, expressed his gratitude to LRM Residential Manager, Caroline Decleves for collaborating and supporting the drive to ensure customer service excellence.

TEAM WORK

Last month, our security team at Regent’s Place was again joined by both The Metropolitan Police and Camden Community Presence Officers. This demonstrates our continued partnership and collaboration, at this wonderful location. Security Officers Xhevatt, Modou and M certainly enjoyed the experience.

Head of Security, John Reynolds said,

“Working closely with all our partners, the Metropolitan Police, British Transport Police, and London Borough of Camden is part of our ongoing strategy to keep the campus spaces secure. Our joint approach to patrolling and sharing information enables the very best service for our customers, the occupiers, visitors, and residents, keeping everyone safe.”

ENGAGING WITH OUR OCCUPIERS

Last month, the CIS Security Limited team at Regent’s Place were engaging with all our occupiers, customers and visitors across the campus providing reassurance and crime prevention advice. We know incidents and crime levels are low on the campus, but everyone needs to be aware of their surroundings as they leave Regent’s Place on their way to our local transport hubs and stations or visiting local shops, bars and restaurants. Situational awareness and being alert are key to avoid becoming victims of crime.

We have deployed additional security personnel on high visibility patrols. It was great to see the team in action, even if the weather proved a challenge.

On 23rd May 2024, CIS Security and our security partners on campus, Wilson James, held a police and security drop in at the Santander European HQ on the plaza. Our neighbourhood policing team and security teams were able to give further crime prevention advice, discuss local issues, show offences of mobile phone theft being committed

in London and advise how to stay safe. Free merchandise and leaflets were available to all, the panic alarms provided were certainly popular.

Our Loading Bay team have also been training in the use of under vehicle search mirrors across the week.

John Reynolds, Head of Security at Regent’s Place, stated.

“I am proud to lead a team who take security seriously. We have all worked hard over the last 18 months building a strong collaborative partnership with our local neighbourhood policing teams, specialist officers from other departments within The Metropolitan Police and our partner security teams across the campus from Wilson James Security. We all come together as one to ensure the very safest environment possible for our customers, occupiers and visitors. It is going to be a busy summer with some great events planned.”

A huge thank you to everyone involved!

SECURITY MANAGERS FORUM

Regent’s Place held its latest Security Managers Forum. CIS Security working with our security colleagues from Wilson James META and DENTSU as well as Elexon.

Special thanks to the team from British Land, as well as the Metropolitan Police. Pc Michael O’Grady, Pc Satoshi Kaneyasu and PCSO Tom Vincent gave a great overview of crime and ASB including the issue of homelessness.

We are particularly appreciative of our guest speakers from ‘Employers Initiative’ on Domestic Abuse, Susan Bright and Sally Benatar who held all our attention on the issue of domestic abuse. A moving and brave story from Sally. We are stronger together. Working in partnership is key to delivering a robust security regime.

John Reynolds, Head of Security at Regent’s Place said.

“Thank you to all of my colleagues, customer and partners on the campus who again supported this forum. Partnership is key in intelligence sharing, incident management and post incident review. The forum demonstrates how we all make Regent’s Place safer for everyone.”

SITUATIONAL AWARENESS TRAINING

Earlier this month, teams from The Gilbert, One Crown Place, HYLO, and Alphabeta gathered for an insightful training session led by CIS Head of Colleague Development, Phil Thomas. Phil expertly delved into Tuckman’s stages of team development to enhance our understanding of team dynamics, followed by a discussion on leadership styles and strategies for effective support and leadership.

The session also included critical situational awareness training. Phil made the content highly relevant by using examples from our sites, which kept everyone engaged and prompted honest reflections on various scenarios. We were tasked with describing individuals, areas, and vehicles, emphasizing the importance of noting minute details for effective communication.

Security Manager, John Salthouse stated,

“The highlight of the day was the high level of engagement from all participants, fostering a deeper recognition that every situation holds potential. It was an enriching experience that prepared everyone better to handle diverse challenges. It was a pleasure to host this training, and I look forward to hosting more sessions in the future.”

Site Manager, Andrew Gough added,

“This bespoke training package created by Phil Thomas is designed not just for security teams but all service providers. Last Friday saw representatives from security, engineering, cleaning, and building management teams come together from four CIS sites all located around the edge of Finsbury Square. This gave them all the opportunity to learn not just from Phil but from each other, about how each building operates and handles situations differently.”

This was another great example of how CIS aims to bring teams together, adding strength and resilience to the sites it manages.

HI VIS NIGHT COLLABORATION WITH THE CITY SECURITY COUNCIL

CIS were proud to take part in the first nighttime Hi Vis event. CIS and City Security Council partners shared patrols with the City Police to liaise with the public and door supervisors as part of the nighttime economy.

The teams engaged with the public to increase safety awareness, provided security advice, assisted vulnerable people, and improved crime prevention. Visits were made to all CSC member company buildings in the target area, and every effort was made to liaise with licensed premises and corporate security providers.

Working in partnership with the City of London Op Unify teams, taxi Marshalls, Corporation of London and City Security Council members, we had a great response from our teams.

Thank you to everyone involved, what a great night!

SUPER RECOGNISERS

Super Recognisers are people with an extraordinary ability to recognise faces. Only 1% – 2% of the population is estimated to have this ability. The average person can only remember a very limited amount of faces, but Super Recognisers can successfully identify significantly more. Super Recognisers have also proved superior to computerised facial recognition software.

Regent’s Place Security Manager Alec Forrester was identified as having this unique ability and took numerous tests at the University of Greenwich, successfully completing his course earlier this year. He is the first person in CIS Security to be awarded this qualification. Well done Alec!

John Reynolds, Head of Security for CIS-Security at Regent’s Place, said,

“This unique skill will be used across our campus reviewing CCTV, identifying offenders and vulnerable persons. We are in the process of testing our entire team to see who else may have this skill. We are grateful for the continued support and friendship of Super Recogniser International CEO Mike Neville.”

THE SECURITY EVENT

Team CIS Innovative Solutions were at the NEC Birmingham for The Security Event. We had a fantastic day meeting some of our existing supply partners, customers, colleagues, and potential new partnerships. It was great catching up on the latest innovations, making new acquaintances and engaging with subject matter experts from the world of security. It was a thoroughly good event with a high volume of suppliers and manufacturers sharing their latest products and technology.

We are excited to be able to share some of the new products and services we discovered with our colleagues and customers over the next few months.

MERCEDES BENZ WORLD

Earlier this month, the Innovative Solutions team attended the “How to Drive Improved People Performance in an Ever-Changing Workspace” event at Mercedes-Benz World with the MyTag team and Luke Armstrong from Definitive Security Solutions.

We were fortunate to gain insights from Keynotes on improving efficiency and adaptability within the workplace from former McLaren F1 Pit Crew mechanic Marc Priestly and Simone Fenton-Jarvis, Fellow and NonExecutive Director of IWFM and Author of ‘The Human Centric Workplace’; as well as engaging in a Q&A with a panel of industry experts.

The afternoon featured a thrilling passenger lap on the historic Brooklands circuit in an AMG Mercedes, and fierce competition on the racing simulators, in which David and Luke placed 1st and 2nd!

Thank you to MyTag for inviting us and event organizer VPOD Smart Solutions for hosting a brilliant and thought-provoking day!
