STAND TOGETHER ........................................................................................................................ by Jim
Papoulis
Jim Papoulis wrote this song as part of his series Songs For A Better World. The lyrics encourage us to strive toward our goals and to celebrate our unique strengths. This song was influenced by the Celtic singing of Noirin ni Riain, as well as the classical, jazz and world rhythms that are a signature of Papoulis’ compositional style.
COUNT ON ME ....................................... by Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, Bruno Mars, Arr. Janet Day
Pop superstar Bruno Mars wrote “Count On Me” for his debut album in 2010, Doo-Wops and Hooligans. The laid-back groove of this song has a tropical vibe that is reminiscent of Mars’ Hawaiian roots. The lyrics remind us of the power of friendship and the importance of being present for those that are important in your life.
SISI NI MOJA .............................................................................................................................. by
Jacob Narverud
Composed by Jacob Narverud, the Swahili title means “We are one.” We can celebrate our differences in culture, language, and personal stories and know we are one in our needs and wants: to experience the joy of connection while “we stand here together and lift our hearts in song!”
THIS IS ME (from The Greatest Showman) .....................
by Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, Arr. Mac Huff
“This is Me” is a beautiful ballad written for the musical The Greatest Showman. Its message of becoming who we are meant to be, often in the face of challenge and adversity, is an especially powerful one as we find our voices post-pandemic.
