This is the summary of the EJB team’s midway meeting in Paris, September 2016. These are the topics we covered: - Chapter development - IJBC Recap - Blog strategy overview - EJBM/BEAM 2017 - Educational content: human rights - Neighbourhood workshops updates - Neighbourhood updates - Thank you
As the EJB Team we wish to address the topic: “Chapter Development and JB: how can we create a long-lasting relationship between the JB and the Chapter? We met with Iris to go through all of EJB countries with the hope of gaining insights on the chapters from her perspective. Iris is responsible for the PAs that are currently in the developmental stages of becoming NAs. Lotta is responsible for being in contact with the NAs regarding their development and what they might need. Our most interesting discovery (although not completely unexpected) was to see the impact a JB can have on their NA / PA. Goal of our cooperation: Map the region to find out where we as JB can help the sustainable development of the region as a whole.
From the four members on the EJB Team, three of them attended IJBC 2016 (yes, Pipa was feeling left out). Although the heat in Colombia was one of the perks of having the conference in a tropical country, the sessions planned by the fantastic content staff were the best part. A big thank you goes out to the facilitators, the candidates and the IJRs for a very successful conference! Going forward we should all think about the most inspirational moment at IJBC 2016 for us personally and our JBs. What ideas has it inspired for this year’s workshops, trainings, meetings?
We are all very happy with the progress we’ve made with our blog over the last year (check it out here: europeanjb.wordpress.com) however we need to make sure everyone is as happy with it as we are. Have JBers been reading the blog? What motivates JBers to write inspiring blog posts? How can we help JBers feel ownership of the blog? We have reached the conclusion that we will have a ‘’Blog Day’’. Weekly on a Thursday night we will be posting a new blog post. Each neighborhood will be in charge of producing one article per month; it all depends on you! Whether you have ran an inspirational session, assisted with an interesting lecture in school or university, or have experienced something related to CISVs values, please send us a message!
After some discussion on EJBM logistics including starting the schedule for the meeting and the timeline leading up to the meeting, we started discussing EJBM facilitators. We have decided to continue to have sessions run by facilitators for next years EJBM. We will release details such as how many facilitators we are going to have, and how we’ll organise the session topics, at a later date. We met with the Italian NJRs represented by Silvia and Bianca to go over some early details.
We are currently working on our project for next year’s Neighborhood Workshops. Some interesting topics are being reflected on: -Who has to uphold Human Rights? -Are some rights more important than others? -Is there progress on Human Rights? -Why are some people’s right more protected than others?

The secret to knowing what is happening in every neighborhood is open communication. We summarized what we think are the great things that our neighborhoods are doing and planning, and what still needs to be worked on. We are looking forward to ending the summer break with everyone's favourite: Neighbourhood Skype Meetings! Are neighborhoods the core of EJB’s development? What do you think could still be improved in our neighborhood system? How can we ensure our neighborhood’s growth? Send us your comments!
“Thank you for all who viewed our live minutes and engaged with us during our midway meeting. We hope this gave you an insight into the work EJB Team does and that you are getting as excited as we are for what this new year will bring us Pipa | Andrew | Farida | Mia
