WELCOME! Hello everyone and welcome to IJBC 2022! For the first time in 3 years, we will be seeing each other in person and we couldn’t be more excited! Even though our last two virtual IJBCs were a success and a blast, it was clear to us that the next edition of the conference would have to take place, if at all possible, in person. And after a lot of work, IJBC 2022 is finally here. The transition back to in-person conferences and content will not be an easy one. There are NJRs who passed their entire term online and a lot of participants that have never attended an in-person JB workshop. Instead of seeing this as a disadvantage, we chose to see it as an opportunity. This is what we kept in mind when planning every step of IJBC. The schedule is more spaced than the usual IJBC to allow for longer breaks, a decision meant to ease all of you back to the face-to-face format. The sessions this year are more reflective and place a heavier emphasis on self- and JB development. We cannot wait to show you what we came up with — we are going to be having a lot of fun together, building our community and making the most out of this in-person conference! All in all, we are hoping to facilitate not just your transition back to inperson content on a personal level, but also your JB’s transition. WHAT IS IJBC? The International Junior Branch Conference is the annual conference designed and delivered by the International Junior Branch (IJB). With around 100 participants and more than 30 countries represented, IJBC aims at providing methods and tools for Junior Branches to apply at the local and national level while also creating space to dive into the strategic future of Junior Branch. Planned around the Junior Branch goals and statement of purpose, IJBC relies on the involvement and participation of highly involved volunteers to provide leadership opportunities and relevant content that can later be applied in their own national context.
INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR BRANCH International Junior Branch is made up of a lot of different hard-working JBers. We have people working on the regional level as well as the international level to improve Junior Branch on the international level and also support JBers nationally and locally. We are made up of three main groups: our Regional Junior Branch Teams, our International Junior Branch Team (IJB Team) and our International Junior Representatives (IJRs).
REGIONAL JUNIOR BRANCH TEAMS
Americas Junior Branch Team (AJB), Europe, Middle East and Africa Junior Branch Team (EMEAJB), Asia Pacific Junior Branch Team (APJB) We have three Regional Junior. Branch Teams working with National Junior Representatives (NJRs) and Local JBers to support their JBs. Each region is divided into smaller neighborhoods that are a group of National Junior Branches. Responsibilities of the regional team include coordinating neighborhoods and plan the regional Junior Branch meetings such as AJBM, EJBM and Jasparc that happen around Easter each year.
INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR BRANCH TEAM The International Junior Branch also known as IJB TEAM is made up of JBers from across the world who are either working in specific areas of Junior Branch or representing Junior Branch in CISV . The IJB Team is responsible for representing JB on different CISV committees, creating projects to support JB and helping lead Junior Branch as a whole. Right now we have 13 people on the IJB Team.
There are 2 different roles someone can hold on the IJB Team: Committee Member and Specialist. Committee Members are JBers who sit on CISV International Committees in (Chapter Development, Resources & Infrastructure, Educational Programmes and GSRDI Working group), bringing their experience and providing a JB Perspective. They work with CISV Members to improve the organization as a whole and liaise back to the IJB Team. Specialists each focus on one skill, working on ways to support JBers and improve our current practices such as Resources, IT, Evaluation, Projects & Events and Communication. They are responsible for working with IJRs, Regional Teams ad NJRs to bring information to Junior Branch. Both roles on the IJB Team often find opportunities to collaborate and work together. Often our projects have pieces that overlap or members have specific knowledge that benefits a project. We are working to become more efficient in what we do and improve and develop what we have done and what is two come.
INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVES
There are always two IJRs, a junior and a senior, who are responsible for coordinating and advising the IJB team, coordinating Regional Teams, representing Junior Branch and organizing IJBC. The IJRs also represent Junior Branch and have one vote each as members of CISV International. This includes voting for the new Governing Board members and voting on motions. New committees or working groups also often ask for a JB Representativ, so the IJRs work with them for someone to fit the role.

Hello, JB World! I’m Lianna from the Philippines. A few things about me: I’m finishing my degree in Development Studies, I love curating Spotify playlists, and I share a birthday with Edward Cullen (except he’s 99 years older). I’m also on the last few months of my term as NJR of CISV Philippines. I’m so excited to share this first IJBC-in-person-again with you all! I’ll be running the morning sessions in the conference as well as sessions on creating social impact with the JB as a platform and JB sustainability and transformation as we enter this “new normal” in CISV :) See you all soon! Hey there IJB! I’m Belle from the Philippines! I’m currently an APJB Team member taking up Diplomacy and International Relations and am in my last year at UNI. I’ve been in CISV for more than a decade, but this will be my first in-person IJBC! A little bit about me— I love being out in nature, baking chocolate chip cookies, and doing development with NGOs. Que onda, familia! I love to be called Mar. Yeah, like ‘sea’ in Spanish. And since it is short for something else, I would love to see you try and guess what it is short for. I come all the way from Mexico, I’m an LJR in Queretaro. If there is something you need to know about me is that I have a hippie spirit (but I do shower): I eat mostly a vegan diet, love to walk around barefoot and have an immense love for mushrooms. Hello JB Habibis! I'm Omar, one of the two Junior Communication Specialists on the IJB Team that will be present at this year's IJBC. I'm also the NJR of JB Egypt and have been in CISV since 2016. Besides CISV which is something I truly believe in I'm really passionate about music especially singing and have done gigs and participated in competitions internationally. See you all soon! VY (she/her) Hey slays, my name is Vy, I'm from Hanoi, Vietnam, and I'm the junior International Junior Representative! I explore the Dublin cafe scene in my free time, make half-hearted Spotify playlists, detest half of my majors (Economics and Statistics, take a guess which one), and go thrifting just to look at pretty overpriced clothes. 2021-2022 has been an incredible ride of both ups and downs, and I’m so honored to have been able to learn, grow, make mistakes and enjoy small victories with everyone in the IJB community this year. I cannot wait to meet with you all as we wrap this wonderful journey up and get ready for another great year together! LEXI (she/her) Hello hello, my name is Lexi, I’m from Vienna, Austria and I’m the current Senior International Junior Representative. It feels like my journey in JB started decades ago, and this IJBC it is finally coming to an end after having held positions on all levels of Junior Branch. Outside of CISV I am getting a Masters degree in Translation. Other than that, I read a lot, I sew a little bit and I like to go swimming or spend time in the park, especially in the summer. I am super excited to be able to facilitate one last IJBC and I can’t wait to show you all what we planned for you! SESSION 2: Back to JBasics TWO-PART ACTIVITY: Get-to-know-you activities that will transition into an interactive presentation of all things Junior Branch— mission, vision, goals, regions, etc.
SESSION 3: First rule of Fight Club A skit-based session on developing communication skills in two main domains, inner thoughts and interpersonal words
SESSION 4: DEI master A skills building workshop on diversity, equity, and inclusion to better equip the JBs on these values that should be championed in the organization
SESSION 5&9: Show us what you got! A surprise session ran by the IJR Candidates!
SESSION 6: Can we fix it? & SESSION 7: Yes we can! A two-part activity aims to reimagine Junior Branch and help us build it better!
SESSION 8: Open Space #1 An open space on advocacy and purpose to allow JBers to better understand ourselves and our situatedness in our communities!
SESSION 10: Knock Knock, Let's Talk! A session on processing who we are throughout the pandemic, and retaining our identity as we move forward. Tw: emotional vulnerability
SESSION 11: JBeyond: Social Impact A panel and interactive activity on participating and creating social impact within and with the JB!
SESSION 12: Regional Space Regions/neigborhoods come together to plan and strategize for the coming term. Afterwhich, each region will share some of the ideas they came up with for quick presentation and feedbacking.
SESSION 13: Open Space #2 A platform where JBers can host a focused discussion on any topic they are passionate about. The process is simple – each open space will last for around 30 minutes and the groups are rotated so participants can fully enjoy as many open discussions as they’re interested in.
SESSION 14: So you think you can be a JB leader A session on leadership development in the IJB. Understanding capabilities and limitations, while being able to best maximize these!
SESSION 15: Closing Session The final session of IJBC with the final zoom out session as well.
MEET YOUR IJR CANDIDATES BIANCA (she/her) Hi! My name is Bianca Sihleanu and this year I am one of the five IJR candidates. I am 19 years old and soon I’ll be starting a new university to try to pursue my dream job (working in Formula 1). I’m a friendly person, that will certainly make you laugh, with a huge smile on my face and the warmest hugs. I am really excited to meet you all and have fun at IJBC!! Hey! This is Jose from Peru :) I currently live in Lima, but I’m moving soon to Boston for college! I love animals, everything related to the sea and volunteering. I joined the JB in 2019 and since then I’ve had multiple national and international roles such as NJR and IJBT member, and facilitated conferences like Andinos and AJBM. GEORGIA (she/her) Hey B) it’s Georgia. I am one of your IJR Candidates and am from the East Coast of Canada. I just graduated from my business degree in Sustainability Management and International Management and am in the process of making a big move to the other coast of Canada. I’ve been in CISV since 2009 and JB since 2013. In my spare time I like to check things off lists, to acquire a new crafty skill and do an elaborate project then never use that skill again, and to eat bagels. HANA (she/her) Hey besties <3 I’m Hana from Thailand, I’m currently 18 turning 19 this year. I just graduated from a French high school in Bangkok after coming back from an exchange year in 2019/2020 in France. I’m off to Osaka University in September to study Human Sciences (very CISV of me). My first CISV experience was in 2015 at Village in Portugal then I did an interchange in 2017 in Italy. I found out about JB through a Facebook post about JASPARC 2021 online and since then I’ve been very active with JB. I’ve facilitated events with JB Japan and even joined the IJB team as the JB representative for the GSRDI working group. Asides from my passion for CISV and JB, I love learning languages and I’m currently fluent in English, Japanese, Thai and French with Chinese and Spanish in the beginners level. I’m also a big traveler and I love getting lost in a country and meeting new people. My current obsession is watching Grey’s Anatomy and making fruity Tiktoks (I spent way too much time on them). Hey everyone! This is Said from Lebanon! I’ve been a member of the IJB Team, CISV Standing Committees, the CISV Finance Committee, served as the Lebanese NJR, and am now an IJR candidate! I wish I could be in Austria with you all in person, but I’m currently moving across the Atlantic to Boston for my studies! IJBC 2022 will be my fourth IJBC, and I’m beyond excited to share all the big ideas I’d want to implement if I were elected as IJR with you all (www.tinyurl.com/SAIDO-IJR) - my main “agenda item” would be an IJB Fund that NJRs can tap into for financial resources!
