Celebrating our MAYC Volunteers
National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize and thank volunteers who lend their time, talent, voice, and support to causes they care about. All volunteer stories serve to inspire others to take action, to realize the impact volunteering can have for others. The Mary Ann Young Center will be celebrating volunteers with tributes to the giving spirit.
Honor MAYC Volunteers - Wednesday, April 16, 11am Help us honor those MAYC volunteers who have recorded 20 hours or more of service time. Everyone is welcome to attend and thank our volunteers for their gift of time and talent. Entertainment starts at 11AM with the Folk Revival of Minnesota.
Socialize with Volunteers- Thursday, April 24, 11am Socialize with current volunteers, have some snacks, and learn how you can get involved in volunteering to help make MAYC the best it can be.
The Power of Volunteerism
Volunteerism, at its core, embodies a spirit of selflessness and service. It is a cornerstone of the Mary Ann Young Center, driven by individuals who willingly contribute their time, skills, and resources to support all our programs and events.
Dawn is MAYC’s newest volunteer who joined the team last month. Dawn retired from her research career and just knew her time would be well spent volunteering for others. All the fun activities at the Mary Ann Young Center piqued her interest. Starting out during a special holiday luncheon got her in the door, but it was due to the enthusiasm and kindness of long-time staff member Ann that kept her coming back. It was then that Dawn decided to make volunteering more consistent.

Dawn was mentored by other veteran volunteers, Vern and Jeff, who showed her the ropes. They provided detailed instruction which gave her the confidence she needed. With the warm-hearted people, excellent programs, and the truly beautiful facility, it is easy to contribute to such an important community all focused on engaging and enriching the lives of our area seniors. Dawn says her experience prompts her to encourage others she meets along the way to visit the Mary Ann Young Center and get involved. You will not be disappointed. Thanks Dawn!
Long time Volunteers Marsha and Fran
