Swim Lessons
Choosing the appropriate level... Children should be registered for a level based on their age and ability. Please read the descriptions of skills in each level. Typically, children repeat a level two or three times before mastering skills and moving on to the next. Register for lessons by the week or Saturday sessions. Make-up sessions are not available.
Tiny Tots (3-5 yrs) with Parent
Advanced Beginner (7-14 yrs)
Class ratio 1:4
Class ratio 1:8 This class emphasizes stroke refinement. Successful completion of Beginner level (or equivalent) is required to enroll in this class. Using a variety of drills, students will learn to freestyle stroke the width of the pool, full stroke and side breathing, backstroke with straight arm recovery, tread water using various kicks for two minutes, standing and surface in-water dives, under-water swimming and breast stroke kick with kickboard.
***Please Note: To comply with Santa Clara County Public Health Orders, Tiny Tot swim classes will require a parent or guardian (18 yrs+) in the water with your child throughout the lesson. Emphasis on submerging face, bobbing, bubble blowing, basic floating skills with support, water entry and exit, kicking with support and personal safety skills. Children will progress to holding breath and to fully submerge their head for three seconds, retrieve items from bottom of platform, float and glide unsupported for five seconds. Arm strokes and safety skills will also be taught.
All lessons are held at:
Campbell Community Center Pool 1 W. Campbell Ave., Campbell, 95008, near the Campbell Avenue parking lot. Cancellations or transfers must be requested in writing five (5) business days prior to the start date (visit www.cityofcampbell.com/recreation). A $10 cancellation fee per person per class will be deducted from each refund given with at least a five (5) business day notice. No refunds given for cancellations less than five (5) business days. Make-up sessions are not available.
Swimmer (8-14 yrs) Class ratio 1:10 Emphasizes stroke efficiency and endurance. Successful completion of Advanced Beginner level (or equivalent) is required to enroll in this class. Instruction and drills will teach proper side-breathing and progression of freestyle stroke, full breast stroke and back stroke for 20 yards, open handed turns, standing dives, as well as tread water for five minutes. The class will also progress to focus on speed and efficiency in the water. Students will learn competitive skills, including starts and turns, endurance swimming, timed continuous swims in all four competitive strokes, as well as treading water for 5 minutes, survival float for two minutes and retrieval of a diving brick from the deep end of the pool.
**Please remember to take your child to the restroom before lessons. “Accidents” in the pool are a major disruption and require complete closure of the pool. Children under the age of 3 are required to wear a swim diaper.
About Our Pool The Campbell Community Center features one 25-yard outdoor pool. The depth of the pool ranges from 3½ feet at the shallow end to 9½ feet in the deep end. Heated by both solar and gas, the pool is maintained at a comfortable 80 degrees year-round. Please remember to bring your own towel. If using a locker, please bring a lock to secure your belongings.

Online reservations will be required to reserve a private lane in advance, up to 2 weeks prior. One (1) person per lane, per the Santa Clara County Public Health Order. 1-hour session - $15; 30-minute session - $7.50 All 1-hr sessions will be held in middle lanes 3,4,5, and 6. All 30-minute sessions will be held in outside lanes 1,2,7, and 8. Please see pool diagram. Only one lane can be reserved per person per day. Please follow all social distancing protocol while attending. Signage will be posted. Each swimmer’s temperature will be checked prior to swimming, using a no-touch forehead thermometer. Locker Rooms will not be available. Public restrooms adjacent to the pool area will be available for use. Fitness passes will be not valid for Lap Swim during this time. During the month of June, Lap Swim Sessions will be offered during the following times: 7:15 am - 8:15 am, Monday - Friday 11:00 am - 1:15 pm, Monday - Friday Reserve your lane online at: https://apm.activecommunities.com/campbellrecreation/Home

Day Camps
Campbell Recreation Summer Day Camps Campbell Recreation offers quality programs for children and teens ages 4 to 12 providing a fun, safe place to play during the summer. These experiences nurture creativity, build self-esteem, improve social interaction, and increase physical stamina. Day campers will enjoy arts and crafts, games, camp singing, and other exciting activities while exploring their outdoor environment, expanding their imagination, and learning team building skills. Food is not provided. Camps run the weeks of June 15 through August 7. The City continues to follow the guidance of the Santa Clara County Public Health Department in response to coronavirus (COVID-19). Based on the latest recommendations, we’ve modified the Campbell Recreation Summer Day Camps. Please note that this is a fluid situation, and as new information arises, the City may make further adjustments. For current Camp Guidelines before registering and attending camp, visit www.campbellca.gov/daycamp June 15-July 2nd Day Camps • In compliance with the current Order of the Health Officer of the County of Santa Clara, campers are required to remain in groups of 12 children or less, and remain in the same groups for 3 consecutive weeks. Campers must be registered for all three weeks in order to participate. July 6th-August 7th Camps • We will have updates the week of June 22nd on whether campers will be able to attend one week at a time or if they will be required to attend 3 consecutive weeks. Teeter Totters has been canceled for June 15th - July 2nd. It is still undetermined if we will offer the camp for July 6th - August 7th. Visit www.campbellca.gov/daycamp for more information and updates.
*** All field trips and special guests have been canceled due to the current Order of the Health Officer of the County of Santa Clara. Recreation swim is still to be determined for the upcoming weeks of camp. Parents will be notified if and when we campers can participate in recreation swim.
DAY CAMP LOCATION John D. Morgan Park: 540 W. Ricon Ave (Ricon Ave side of Park) Campers can be dropped off and picked up at the circular drop-off area in the main parking lot on Ricon Ave. Parents or guardians must remain in their vehicles during drop off and pick up. Temperature checks will be done for all registered campers. Before registering and attending camp, please read current Camp Guidelines at: www.campbellca.gov/daycamp.

REFUND/CANCELLATION AND TRANSFER POLICY All refund/cancellation or transfer requests must be submitted in writing at least five (5) business days prior to start date of camp or activity. Please use the online request forms located on the right side of the page at www.campbellca.gov/recreation. A $10 cancellation fee per activity per person will be deducted from the refund. There is no fee if we are able to provide a transfer for the participant. Cancellations or transfers with less than five (5) business days notice will NOT receive a refund or transfer.

Skyhawks Multi-Sport Camp (7-12 Yrs)
Skyhawks Basketball Camp (7-12 Yrs) This camp will focus on the whole player by teaching your child the skills needed for both on and off the court. Emphasis is placed on life skills such as respect, good sportsmanship, and responsibility, along with stressing the importance of teamwork. Skyhawks camp will start with a skill of the day and progress into drills and games, making an unforgettable camp experience for your young athlete. After a week of passing, shooting, dribbling, and rebounding, you will see why this is one of our most popular programs. The camp will also include optional recreational swimming on Thursdays, team-building activities, and various other fun camp games. Campers must bring a sack lunch, water and two snacks each day. Our Multi-Sport camp introduces young athletes to a variety of sports and skills in one setting. We combine soccer, baseball, and flag football into one fun-filled week. Athletes will learn the rules and essentials of each sport through skill-based games and scrimmages. Your child will walk away with vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork, and selfdiscipline. The camp will also include optional recreational swimming on Thursdays, team-building activities, and various other fun camp games. Campers must bring a sack lunch, water and two snacks each day. Don’t miss out on our new weekly themes: Water Games 7/13 - 7/17 Olympic Games 7/27 - 7/31 All participants will receive a Skyhawks sports ball, t-shirt, and merit award. This multi-sport program was developed to give children a positive first step into athletics. The essentials of baseball, basketball, and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment with lots of encouragement, and a big focus on fun. Our Mini-Hawk games and activities are designed to allow campers to explore balance, movement, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace. Campers need to bring two snacks and water each day. All participants will receive a Skyhawks sports ball, t-shirt, and merit award. Sports Camp: Soccer Classic Skills (7-9 yrs) Sports Camp: Soccer U6 Fussball Academy (5-6 yrs) Camps focus on basic soccer skills and team concepts in a fun and nurturing atmosphere. Mornings are dedicated to playful games that teach all the fundamentals of soccer, and the afternoons focus on matches that instill fun, passion, and the team concept. Half-day or full-day camps are available. Campers need shin guards, cleats, soccer ball, sunscreen, water, and snack each day. Full-day campers also need to bring lunch. Sports Camp: Soccer Advanced Players (10-13 yrs) Most Advanced Players campers have been playing soccer for at least 2-3 years. This camp’s format dedicates the morning session to technique training and developing skills that will help an experienced player perform at the next level. Art Camp: Ultimate Art Camp (5-12 yrs) Join us for our ‘Ultimate Art Camp’! Your child will learn a little of everything we teach here: from clay to painting with acrylic paints and oil pastels. Your child will have fun playing and learning at the same time. A $60 material fee is due at the camp. Location: Art Beat, 68 E Campbell Ave.
Cheerleading Camp (5-10 yrs) Students will learn all the fundamentals and skills of cheerleading. No Contact Cheerleading lessons focus on proper technique, cheer positions, cheer jumps, chants and cheers. Fun pom-pom drill team dance routines will be taught to popular, age-appropriate music. Seasonal cheers and chants will be taught for sports. Beginning stunting and gymnastics tumbling will NOT be taught at this time. Cheerleading skills are taught based on readiness, physical ability and age-appropriateness of each student. Attire: Wear comfortable movable clothing, pull hair back into a ponytail and wear tennis shoes. *GymKids USA signed waiver is required at first day of camp. Observation Policy: Only registered students will be allowed in the classroom during lessons. NO observation of any class. *Please bring a small snack and personal water bottle every day to camp. Cheer Camp Covid-19 Health Notes: A limited amount of 12 students will be accepted per camp/class. Students will be spaced out to the proper distance to adhere to new health guidelines. Each student will have their own designated space and mat for their lessons, pompoms and personal belongings. Equipment will not be shared. All rooms, tables, equipment and mats have been disinfected prior to student use. Students will be given hand sanitizer to use before, during and after class is over. Masks: Instructor will be wearing a mask. Children under the age of 12 do not need to wear a mask according to the CDC. Masks are optional for students. Youth Virtual Classes Music Together Virtual Now more than ever, we need music! Join the teachers you know and love from the MusicalMe, Inc. for our newest program: Music Together Online. Your whole family will have a blast singing, dancing, and jamming along to new songs during weekly live online/ interactive classes. Music Together Online is a package of online music experiences and resources that create a comprehensive music learning program with the same high quality you’re used to with the Music Together program. With our online format we can now offer you more than ever before! Classes begin the week of July 6th and end the week of August 24th.

Music Together Virtual (0-6 yrs) This Eight week program includes two 25 minute classes, broadcast in Zoom meetings. Sign up for two class times each week. Along with fun short videos (including lullabies, story times, craft ideas, etc.), you will have access to full length class videos by each of our beloved online teachers. Further, I am aware that this activity may involve certain risks or possible dangers, including death, & that equipment provided for my protection may be inadequate to prevent serious injury. I am voluntarily participating in this activity with knowledge of the danger involved and hereby agree to accept any and all inherent risks of property damage, personal injury, or death. I further agree to indemnify and hold harmless the City of Campbell & others listed above for any & all claims arising as a result of my engaging in this activity. I understand that this waiver will continue in full legal force and effect. I further agree the venue for any legal proceedings shall be in California. I affirm I am of legal age and am freely signing this document. I have read this form and fully understand that by signing this form, I am giving up legal rights and/or remedies which shall be available to me against the City of Campbell or any of the parties listed above. The City is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Refunds, less a $10.00 admin. fee, will be given to registered participants who cancel up to five (5) business days in advance of a class start date. Cancellations less than 5 business days notice will not receive a refund. Registration Fees “R/NR Fee” throughout the Activity Guide refers to Resident of Campbell / Non-Resident Fee. To receive the resident fee, residency must be proven as stated under “Resident Status”. All fees are due at the time of registration. Fees will not be prorated for missed class(es), and make-ups are not available.
Resident Status A resident is anyone living within the Campbell city limits (zip code 95008). P.O. boxes and school districts are not considered residences. Those living within Campbell’s incorporated city limits, but having a zip code other than 95008, should contact the Recreation Office to verify resident status. Proof of residency may be provided by a current California Driver’s License, pre-printed personal check, or recent residential utility bill with the customer’s name and address printed on it. If registering online, the billing address for your credit card must match your Campbell home address on file.
Refund and Transfer Policy All cancellation or transfer written requests must be made to the Recreation Office with at least a 5 business days’ notice prior to the start date of the activity. A $10 cancellation fee per activity per person will be deducted from the refund. Cancellations or transfers with less than 5 business days’ notice will NOT receive a refund or transfer. Online request forms available at www.campbellca.gov/recreation. Medical emergencies are exempt from this policy; however, a signed and dated statement from your doctor is required, and must be provided within six (6) weeks of the activity start date. Separate policies apply to fitness passes, sports leagues, trips, facility reservations, Campbell Recreation Pre-school, Wave Swim Team, and Heritage Theatre events. Please inquire before registering or purchasing tickets for these activities and events. A minimum number of participants is required to hold a class. When enrollment is low, the Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel a program. Full refunds are given when a class or program is cancelled by the Recreation Department.
Waiting Lists Waiting lists are established once a class is filled. If a vacancy occurs more than two working days prior to the start of the class, waiting list names will be called and/or emailed and given a limited time to register for the vacancy. Less than two business days before class starts, openings may be filled on a first come, first serve basis.
Age Requirements The participant must be the indicated age by the starting date of the class. Proof of age may be required for some programs (i.e. preschool, 50+ classes).
Campbell Recreation’s Satisfaction Guarantee The staff and the instructors of the Recreation and Community Services Department are confident that they can provide the best quality recreation experience available. If a customer is not satisfied, and notifies the Recreation Office by the second class date, a refund can be issued or a transfer made, to allow the customer to try something different. Customers must submit a Satisfaction Guarantee form available at www.campbellca.gov/recreation. Fitness passes, adult sports leagues, trips, and Heritage Theatre tickets/shows are not included. Other restrictions may apply.
