May is Senior Awareness Month Eden Prairie celebrates Senior Awareness Month, a time to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions and accomplishments of older adults, recognize organizations that serve older adults, and enhance community involvement across generations. The City of Eden Prairie has celebrated Senior Awareness Month since 1993. Look for the Senior Awareness logo throughout this newsletter to find a variety of events throughout May dedicated to senior awareness.
Our eight weeks of renovations have gone smoothly and we plan to open April 4. Thank you for all your patience! It's looking great!
Advisory Council Results Congratulations to our 2022 Advisory Council: Ken Berg and Bob Shurson, and new members Beth Lapp and Harvey Weiss. We look forward to their next two years of hard work serving the Senior Center. Thank you to outgoing members Sylvia Peterson and Judy Weigel for your dedicated service during the past several years.

FITNESS Senior Center Fitness Classes Get active with fitness classes designed specifically for older adults. All classes are held in the Senior Center Community Room and are free for Community Center members. Nonmembers pay $7 per class at the door.

Beginner to intermediate fitness level
Beginner to intermediate fitness level
Move through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and skills required during activities for daily living. Some exercises are performed in a seated position and some are standing, using a chair for balance.
SilverSneakers® Yoga moves your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation promote stress reduction and mental clarity.

Biking Club Season Kickoff Welcome back to outdoor biking! The kickoff event features demonstrations on the most upto-date biking “must-haves.” Leaders show how to change a tire and discuss safety tips. Attendees learn the benefits of stretching and exercise before and after biking. We hold the event indoors if there is inclement weather. New riders are welcome! Registration deadline May 10.

Investment Group (Virtual)
This fully-equipped community resource is available to anyone to use during regular business hours (and some evenings). All participants must take a 2-hour safety course before using equipment. Pay $60 for the required course and $35 per quarter or $7 per visit. Most regular shop equipment is available and group rentals can be arranged. Another person must be present if using equipment in the shop.
