Find your community with Eugene Rec Nothing lights up the room like the smile of someone who just won a game of bingo. But Campbell Community Center is more than that. Yes, we provide patrons with a well-rounded offering of activities and groups beyond the cliché senior centers of yesteryear. Eugene Rec does as well, taking its role as a community builder seriously because we know these social connections are key. Studies show people who have satisfying relationships with family, friends and their community are happier, have fewer health problems and live longer. Within the pages of this Rec Guide anyone can discover new communities to join, no matter their passion. Take, for instance, a recent trip a group of seniors made to Portland to go indoor skydiving. One 82-year-old participant grinned like a 12-year-old boy when the indoor wind tunnel lifted him off his feet. The smiling was infectious for the entire group
Senior indoor skydiving trip. with spontaneous bouts of clapping and cheering breaking out as each senior experienced what it was like to fly. That trip showcases the breadth of experience one can have participating in a Eugene Rec activity. This guide is your key for finding the right community for you this winter and spring. Who

knows, maybe, like us, you’ll learn Wednesday Penny Bingo at Campbell is an event full of laughter and competitiveness or that the Grumpy Old Men Bridge group is actually filled with smiles. If they’ve had their coffee, of course.

“We are a foster family and use the scholarships for our kids. Our 16-year-old started at the pool at 13 with little confidence. He worked his way up to lifeguard training, being hired as a lifeguard and is in his second year of varsity water polo. His success story is incredible and a big part is due to his access to the pool. Thank you!” To support scholarships visit GetRec.org/recdonate
